Main Responsibilities

Human Resources:

Main Purpose of Role

CFAB is a national charity and the UK-branch of the International Social Service network. Our social work team helps to resolve cases involving child protection, children in care, and vulnerable adults when the case crosses international borders. CFAB social workers offer advice and guidance to individuals and local authorities and help to link social work services between the UK and another country. CFAB social workers engage in direct work with beneficiaries through kinship assessments and risk assessments.

The main purpose of the role is: to manage a caseload of complex cases originating in the UK or overseas which involve child protection issues; to support, advise and quality assure the work of social workers in other countries; to deliver training to professionals on issues related to international social work, and: when needed, to complete kinship assessments of family members who have come forward to care for a child in care.

1. To hold a caseload of allocated cases originating in the UK or overseas

• Quality assuring complex kinship and parenting assessments completed by social workers abroad for court proceedings in the UK.

• Assessing cases referred to CFAB, identifying the intervention required and the resources/agency to undertake it

The Royal College of Anaesthetists is the professional body responsible for the specialty throughout the UK. We are the third largest medical royal college in the UK by membership. With a combined membership of more than 24,000 Fellows and Members, we ensure the quality of patient care by safeguarding standards in the three specialties of anaesthesia, intensive care and pain medicine.

Light Up Learning is a Scottish charity providing bespoke support for high school students. We are dedicated to igniting a love of learning in young people and transforming the nature of education in Scotland.

Our programme aims to address issues of unequal access to education and disengagement in the classroom by creating low-stress, supportive, and playful learning environments for young people who have experienced disadvantage. Through creative, one-to-one mentoring relationships, our team helps young people rediscover their curiosity, build confidence, and imagine a future they genuinely want to work towards.

We currently work in 12 schools in Lothian and Borders and are looking to grow and build new partnerships with other schools across Scotland. We want to reach more students, nurture their curiosity, and provide the resources they need to succeed. To do this, we need further funding and the newly-created role of Head of Fundraising will play a key part in achieving this growth.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to oversee all aspects of high-value income generation, primarily focussing on HNWIs, leading to a doubling of our income by 2030. This role will report directly to the Chair with a dotted line to our Founder, and will manage the relationship with the Consultant we have engaged to write grant applications. The role will be very hands-on, and the right candidate will thrive off working alongside a entrepreneurial and passionate team. You will be a self-starter with the hunger and curiosity to build activity and relationships, and make a strong personal impact.

Main Purpose of the Role (Sole Lead)

• Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate communications, marketing, and engagement strategies.
  • Lead all communications activities, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Monitor and evaluate strategy effectiveness with KPIs and report to the leadership team and Board of Trustees.
  • Stay updated on charity communications trends.

• Content Creation & Storytelling 
  • Social Media: Create and execute dynamic strategies to grow engagement.
  • Reports & Publications: Draft and publish Quarterly board and annual reports, presentations, and other documents.
  • Source and develop compelling stories from stakeholders, ensuring consent.
• Digital Engagement & Management 
  • Website: Develop and update produce high-quality, engaging content.
  • Create SEO Strategy and Website content. 
  • Plan and create engaging newsletters and appeals.
• Media Relations & PR
  • Lead proactive and reactive communications and marketing.
  • Develop relationships with key journalists and media influencers.
  • Prepare charity spokespeople for media appearances.
  • Prepare and submit Charity Award Applications
• Stakeholder Engagement & Events
  • Ensure systematic and sustained stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee and deliver high-quality events, including the annual celebration event. 

Skills Required 

• Ability to think strategically, set goals, and develop and implement Marketing strategies.
• Creative flair and strong communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to draft high-quality documents for a range of audiences
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to form positive relationships with colleagues and school leaders from a range of backgrounds
• Enthusiastic and self-driven, able to think quickly, plan and act independently
