The Role

You will be a part of the youth service working on the local council sites and a community centre in Wakefield and Bradford, where you will build trusted relationships with young members (age range 5 to 17). Working with families living on site, with some engagement (outreach) of young people living on yards, in houses and potentially roadside. You will get to know them, their goals, talents and challenges and together with them, you will build an ongoing programme of activities.

The youth work programme through weekly group work and regular 1-1 sessions, covers such key issues and topics such as mental health, education, relationships, staying safe, human rights and future hopes. The sessions are planned around building key core skills such as building confidence, leadership and team building skills, positive communication and joint decision making.

The youth service supports young people to be less isolated, have better connections to opportunities, have greater pride and the opportunity to celebrate their ethnicity and pride. Developing partnerships with organisations who can bring their projects to our young people and support them to access opportunities off site.

About You

You will be confident to work in a busy, fast paced, community facing environment that is committed to person-centred working, with active listening skills and an empathetic approach.  You will be resilient and adaptable, and enjoy working in a role with competing priorities and deadlines.

Knowledge and experience;

• Have at least 2 years experience of working with young people, either as an employee, volunteer. 
• Have experience of delivering group work for children and young. (Co-production and involving young people in session design and delivery) 
• Have some experience in keeping records and designing session plans. 
• Good working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding principles, policies and procedures 
• Have skills in building trusted relationships and developing children and young peoples strengths

Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) is looking to engage the services of a results-oriented consultant with great people skills to set up CAP projects in high harm areas.

About Us

CAP sets up and supports local partnerships that aim to reduce alcohol harm in children and young people, improve their health and well-being and enhance their communities. Our mission is to create an alcohol-free childhood for all children and young people.

Role Overview

The successful applicant will have a track record of building effective partnerships, the people and communication skills to involve and engage a wide range of local stakeholders and the leadership and project management skills to support projects through each phase of their lifecycle including baseline evaluation, action plan delivery, post intervention evaluation and maintenance/sustainment. After a short familiarisation period the successful applicant will be expected to oversee fast-track development of new CAPs in priority areas and take responsibility for all aspects of their management with minimal supervision.

A key requisite of the role will be the ability to forge effective public/private sector partnerships between statutory agencies, schools, youth charities and retailers following the CAP model and evaluation framework. The successful applicant may come from a police, public health, education, local authority or other relevant background.

Key Responsibilities

· Proactively identify opportunities for new CAPs and facilitate set up of new CAPs in priority areas.

· Ensure that all new CAP projects carry out appropriate and timely interventions and evaluate all activity in line with the CAP evaluation toolkit – including a baseline and post intervention evaluation.

· Raise the profile of CAPs in Scotland and ensure that their impact is recognised by key stakeholders.

Specific duties to include the following:

o Represent CAP at all operational meetings.

o Ensure that Retail of Alcohol Standards Group (RASG) member companies play a full delivery role in each CAP where they operate as businesses.

o Liaise as appropriate with strategic leads within local enforcement authorities and other partner organisations to initiate and complete agreed actions.

o Encourage all projects to achieve positive local media coverage including via social media and regional news/broadcast media.

o Ensure that all projects carry out as a minimum a baseline (pre-CAP) evaluation and post intervention evaluation following the CAP evaluation framework and project management survey tools.

o Produce a monthly progress report on all schemes and pipeline activity.

o Attend and participate in regular CAP update meetings on Microsoft teams (x12 pa).

o Assist with event planning and profile-raising opportunities such as MSP visits to CAP projects.

Skills, attributes and experience

• Essential to the role will be the ability to persuade key stakeholders at local and national level of the need to address underage drinking problems and to facilitate effective and dynamic local partnerships involving any/all of the following sectors: local authorities, education, child protection, social services, public health, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships, police, retailers and licensing.
• Excellent organisational and sound project management skills.
• Great people skills with the ability to build consensus and motivate partners to play a role in timely delivery of an agreed action plan.
• Act as an ambassador for CAP at meetings and events including parliamentary events.
• Excellent presentation and all-round communication skills.
• Capable administrator with the ability to keep accurate records including data collection around outputs and impact evaluation.

Remuneration: Consultancy fee of £320 per day depending on experience. Work will depend on ability to generate interest in setting up new CAPs but we anticipate as a guideline engaging a minimum of 2.5 days of consultancy per week or around 100 days per annum. All reasonable and agreed travel expenses will be paid in line with invoice arrangements.

About the charity

Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.

Recent fundable projects include a groundbreaking annual Regional Report on cancer and the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region's schools.

Legacy Officer (Maternity Cover)

 

Role Summary:

As part of the Major Gifts and Planned Giving team, this role is responsible for managing a caseload of approximately 80 legacy estates, including pecuniary, specific, residuary and life interest estates. The Legacy Officer will also assist the team with legacy enquiries and pledges, supporting donors on their legacy journey, as well as managing PETA’s free will services.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Augustus Club

• Administer legacies in a professional and approachable manner, to include correspondence with solicitors and other interested parties
• Maintain departmental information, files, and records related to legacy estates
• Act as the point of contact and grow and mature relationships with stakeholders and external groups in order to attain information needed to carry out the role
• Work with various stakeholders on contested legacies, collaborating with other charities where needed
• Be able to communicate to supporters how important and desirable legacies are to PETA
• Respond to enquiries and requests for assistance from Augustus Club members and planned-giving prospects
• Document pertinent information about planned-giving members for the purpose of enhancing and building relationships
• Remain current on estate-planning practices as well as fundraising techniques and methods used in the non-profit sector, attending professional training seminars as needed
• Keep up to date on probate and tax laws, informing the team of any changes

Other

• Maintain a clear understanding of – and the ability to articulate – PETA's objectives as well as details about specific global PETA programmes
• Assist in the training of new major gifts and/or planned giving assistants
• Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant departmental software (e.g. Revolution Online, ResearchPoint, Raiser's Edge, and Convio) in order to improve communication with donors
• Assist with the preparation and proofreading of mailings

Job Description: Training and Events Officer

The Training and Events Officer will play a key role developing and delivering high quality professional development, training, events, workshops to SLA members and wider audiences. The postholder will develop inspirational, insightful and innovative routes to supporting SLA members to deliver on their school library provision remit, enabling children and young people to reach their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about school libraries, education and training.

You will work with the CEO, SLA colleagues and key stakeholders to develop and deliver a comprehensive training offer, including leading on logistics planning and delivery of our flagship annual conference. In addition, you will develop and maintain a calendar of exciting events and opportunities to share knowledge and insight, working with colleagues to ensure the offer is timely and informative. A confident facilitator and coordinator, you will be comfortable leading on training delivery, or recruiting and working with external facilitators in order to achieve specific outcomes.  Creative, with a flair for spotting opportunities for professional development, you will have a keen eye for detail and an ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines. Resource creation will be second-nature to you and you’ll be comfortable writing for adults and children, and young people.

Duties include:

• Logistics planning and delivery of the flagship event, SLA Annual Conference (currently called the Weekend Course) providing high quality professional development and networking opportunities to members 
• With CEO and key stakeholders, supporting the development of a comprehensive, engaging and exciting conference programme and recruit 40 exhibitors, plus event speakers as needed
• Supporting development of the training strategy working with the CEO to define aims and objectives
• Developing and maintaining a calendar of training, workshops and events aligned with the training strategy, working with the CEO and SLA colleagues, in particular the Outreach Support Officer
• Creation of supporting resources, toolkits and lesson plans to increase training engagement and impact

• Delivering and facilitating inspirational and engaging training and events as required (online and in person)

• Developing relationships with partners to produce high quality webinars, training and online events – including SLA members, funders, external stakeholders
• Exploring and evaluating business and funded models for training and events to ensure an income stream
• Working with external facilitators, recruiting them as needed, to deliver training and workshops, ensuring delivery is aligned with SLA requirements and outcomes
• Managing all training and events administration, planning and logistics

• Working with the Marketing and Communications Officer and Sales and Membership Officer, to ensure effective communication and promotion of training and events, providing timely information and updates as needed 
• Monitoring and evaluation of all training and events to ensure a high-quality offer, reach and impact that delivers on the SLA’s mission, applying learnings as needed

• Generating all event reports and updates as needed for internal and external use 
• Contribute to relevant SLA communications including TSL, newsletters and promotional materials

All team members contribute to office admin, maintaining member data and general office support.

To be successful in this role you should ideally demonstrate:

· experience of working in school libraries, the education sector and a strong understanding of the education landscape

· experience developing and delivering inspirational training, to small and large groups, both online and in person

· understanding of what works (and what doesn’t) for different formats and types of training and using evaluation to establish impact

· experience creating training resources, toolkits and teaching and learning resources

· a clear understanding of the curriculum and teaching and learning outcomes

· confidence in developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders

· an ability to manage own workload, prioritise and meet competing deadlines

The salary for this position is £21,945.95 (FTE £29,000) for 28 hours per week, and comes with a 6% employer pension contribution.

About The Azaylia Foundation

The Azaylia Foundation was founded by Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee after the passing of their eight-month old daughter, Azaylia. Childhood cancer is the number one killer of children in the UK, yet it receives less than 3% of cancer research funding. Backed by a large community of supporters, The Azaylia Foundation is committed to reversing this systemic underfunding through advocacy, PhD research grants, and family support for treatments not freely available via the NHS. Job Purpose

Carers Manchester Contact Point (CMCP) is the first point of contact for unpaid carers seeking information, advice and support to help them with their caring role.

The service delivers a free confidential helpline for carers weekdays (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm). These times are subject to change, based on the needs and requirements of carers using the service.

The aim of this role is to be part of a team providing a comprehensive information, advice and support to carers in Manchester. The post holder will work alongside colleagues from Gaddum and potentially other organisations to be the first contact in a busy service providing advice via a telephone advice line and managing referrals made through digital sources. They will provide information and advice and refer more complex issues to the appropriate agencies delivering the Manchester Carers Pathway.

Key responsibilities 

Advice giving

• Answering telephone calls into a central helpline offering support and guidance to unpaid carers in Manchester.
• Provide relevant and meaningful support and information to unpaid carers utilising internal and external resources.
• Inform carers about carers assessments and refer where necessary.
• Inform carers about emergency grants available and refer where necessary.
• Ensure all advice and support given is delivered in a timely manner to suit the needs of carers calling the helpline whilst balancing waiting callers.

Follow-up support

• Refer unpaid carers to local services to access local and culturally appropriate support in their area.
• Refer carers to Adult Social Care for Carers Assessments to discuss and improve their caring situation.
• Signpost carers to relevant services in Manchester suited to their individual need.
• Complete relevant grant applications for carers using the service where needed.
• Use Carers Manchester Contact Point and other reliable and accurate resources to find, interpret and communicate relevant information to carers
• Research and explore options and implications so that carers can make informed decisions.
• Write and maintain detailed case records for all casework completed.
• Collect required data for statistical monitoring and report preparation.
• Complete the required training to comply with quality assurance processes.

The Purpose of the Role

 The External Relations (ER) department includes private fundraising, marketing & communications and advocacy. ER’s goal is to mobilize external audiences to raise funding to meet core organization needs deliver programs that support our clients to recover and gain control of their lives; influence policy changes to improve outcomes for our clients; and build and grow our global brand.

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team plays a vital role in supporting ER to advance our ambitious global strategy. About the Program

The Europe Regional Finance program has evolved out of our Financial Regulation and Policy Program that began in 2019 with a narrow focus on European central banks. Since then, we've expanded to shape financial regulation and policy globally to accelerate clean energy and create lasting systemic change in how public finance addresses climate challenges. Now the Europe Regional Finance program will focus on EU Policy and Finance and UK Policy and Finance. 

About The Role

The purpose of this role is to contribute to achieving the objectives in the EU Financial Policy and Regulation project, specifically the work on public finance, fiscal policy and industrial strategy. Together with partners and allies, this role will help stop the political polarisation of net zero and contribute to building the broader case for public investment by establishing and propagating a narrative linking the opportunities of the clean energy transition with improving conditions for households and communities. This role sees the big picture and can translate it into actionable plans for maximum impact.

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations.

You have experience working on public finance, fiscal policy, or industrial strategy. You understand what it takes to hold the big picture, and translate complicated campaign strategies into actionable steps.
