Context and purpose of role

At the heart of the Ramblers lies our community of over 100,000 members and supporters, enabling us to fulfil our charitable mission across the length and breadth of Great Britain.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of excellent supporter service, coaching and empowering the Member and Supporter Experience Officers to meet the needs of our supporters. You will play a key role in fostering a positive experience for supporters, managing relationships with third-party suppliers, and driving continuous improvements across processes and systems. As a key point of contact for internal teams, you will traffic-control workloads, ensure smooth project delivery, and act as a champion for supporters across the organisation.

We are looking for someone with experience in working in high in-bound volume (calls/emails) supporter or customer service environments. The candidate must have experience in handling multiple enquiries across different channels and ideally in coaching, mentoring or supervising others.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Coaching

• Manage the Member and Supporter Experience Officers, providing the skills and knowledge to deliver excellent supporter service through tailored training and coaching.
• Lead regular check-ins and team huddles to review progress, share updates, and address any challenges or blockers.
• Support the monitoring of quality and productivity using satisfaction ratings, and performance measures. Take remedying actions, such as further training or support.
• Co-ordinate key business project delivery within the team, liaising with other teams, coaching the team, and supporting delivery.

Supplier and Project Management

• Manage relationships with key suppliers, including our payment processor, and fulfilment centre. Be responsible for briefing them on new projects and setting up procedures.

• Monitor supplier SLAs and performance measures, ensuring consistently high standards. Manage projects with third-party suppliers to time and budget.

• Proactively identify new solutions or efficiencies to improve working practices.

Operational Oversight

• Act as the first point of contact for incoming requests from other teams and campaign briefings, managing the team’s workload and rota.
• Oversee the scheduling and management of team rotas, ensuring adequate coverage for incoming enquiries, including peak periods and project delivery deadlines.
• Lead the induction and onboarding of new team members, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to excel in their roles.
• Provide KPIs on request from the Head of Member and Supporter Experience. Deliver KPI, SLA and insight reporting that drives better decision-making.

High standard supporter care

• Support the team daily in answering incoming enquiries as part of the role.
• Develop and maintain a framework for monitoring the quality of supporter interactions across all touch points and teams through call monitoring, complaints and compliments reporting, surveys, mystery shopping, satisfaction feedback and other performance measures. Where needed, work with relevant managers in other teams to develop solutions.
• Regularly review the quality of interactions handled by team members (e.g., through spot-checking emails, calls, and case resolutions), offering constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Cross-Team Collaboration and Advocacy

• Work closely with teams across the organisation to build and maintain knowledge bases that can be used by all teams to respond to queries and concerns, and to support teams in ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. 
• Act as an ambassador for members and supporters across the organisation, sharing insights with colleagues.
• Maintain strong relationships across the Ramblers, including Ramblers Cymru and Scotland, ensuring the team delivers a high standard of service aligned with organisational priorities.
• Attend project planning meetings to ensure high-quality supporter care and brief the team on new projects.
• Play an active role in key business projects championing the supporter voice.

Continuous Improvement

• Demonstrate a proactive approach to improving processes, reducing response times and enhancing supporter satisfaction.
• Recommend process improvements for key systems, such as the inbound enquiry system and CRM, in consultation with stakeholders.

Volunteer and Digital Engagement

• Manage office volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and supported to carry out their tasks effectively.
• Input into the development of new digital products (e.g., website and mobile) to enhance membership value and support volunteer-led recruitment and retention efforts.

Other

• Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post.

About Sydenham Garden

Based in Lewisham in South-East London, Sydenham Garden is a unique wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give to our primary beneficiaries).

About the role 

Our Director has been in post since November 2021 and on returning from maternity leave in January 2026 she will be working 3 days a week.  We are seeking a Co-Director to jointly lead the organisation going forwards as we have made a positive decision to move towards a co-director model.  This is an exciting opportunity which can have benefits of increasing capacity, efficiency, and transparency and allow for a broader range of identities both to better reflect the diverse populations they serve and as a way to include more diverse leaders. It is a model that can also reduce burnout, build equity, and support flexible working.

As Co-Director you will be jointly responsible for leading and manage the day-to-day running of Sydenham Garden for the benefit of our co-workers.  This will involve overseeing implementation and regular review of Sydenham Garden’s strategic plan and to ensure all governance arrangements are in place to monitor the work of the organisation and to report to the Board of Trustees and to funders.

You will ensure fundraising and financial plans and processes are in place to deliver the agreed services, including fundraising from Trusts & Foundations, community fundraising and developing contracted services as necessary.

About the role

The Director of Finance will lead the finance team to ensure the effective support for SFCT’s complex requirements across all aspects of finance, investment management, governance, compliance and risk.

This role is a fully functional finance role with multiple entities that require support. You will be an experienced Finance Director (and/or perhaps a CFO of an endowment-funded foundation) with the people skills to lead and develop a large finance team, as well as the skills to manage a complex mix of stakeholders.

As a qualified accountant, you will be someone with knowledge and experience in charity finance, who also has a commercial focus and likely has had a stint in industry. Experience in managing a complex finance function and being proactive when it comes to change is essential, as well as the ability to inspire and develop a team to deliver high performance and continuous improvement.

JOB PURPOSE:

• To lead on the development of a healthy childhood programme for children and young people living in Sparkhill.
• To provide a range of activities for children, young people and their families which promote physical exercise and healthy eating.

Membership & Communications Manager

3-4 days per week

£35,000-£45,000 pro rata and subject to experience

Mainly remote (at least initially), with in-person attendance required at monthly team meetings and in-person membership related events which may take place at differing locations, across the UK.

First-round interviews will be held online on Tuesday 12th August. Second round interviews will be in person in London on Friday 15th August.

Purpose of the Role

The Membership & Communications Manager is a new part time role at the School Partnerships Alliance, reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with our Executive Assistant. You will join us at an exciting time as we develop our new organisational strategy and expand our current school membership offer. As this is a new position this post does not currently have direct reports, but there may be an opportunity to recruit additional team member(s) as the organisation continues to grow over the next 12-18 months. You will be required to work closely with both our CEO and Director of Programmes and Research to lead on the development and delivery of the membership strategy, both stewarding and growing our membership base year on year. You will also be required to manage our new website, provide support with our social media, and ensure that all member communications align with both our brand values and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a new, robust membership strategy that supports the S.P.A.’s key objectives. This will include new member acquisition, current member retention and ensuring that stewardship of school members is effective and fit for purpose. You will work with the Director of Programmes and Research to help deliver a credible school partnerships CPD programme and collaborate with the wider S.P.A. team to create a tangible, attractive membership offer (both on and off-line) that will bring schools together, challenge existing partnership practice and support new thinking.
• Actively identify, solicit and enrol new schools as members, building and maintaining an evolving pipeline of new membership prospects.
• Plan and prepare for meetings with current and potential members and accompany CEO and/or Director of Programmes and Research to cultivation meetings where appropriate.
• Be the first point of call for all members and with the support of the Executive Assistant to the CEO, oversee the processing of all new membership applications, renewals and invoices and ensure all enquiries from existing and prospective members are responded to in a timely manner.
• Work with the wider team to confirm a calendar of membership events across the school year. These will take place both online and/or in locations across the UK, so occasional travel will be required.
• Oversee the membership budget and provide quarterly income forecasts and reports to the CEO and Trustees, monitoring and reporting against income targets.
• Build and maintain partnerships with wider S.P.A. stakeholders to include external school membership organisations, MATs and S.P.A. trustees.
• Empower S.P.A. staff and our trustee board to support membership development, utilising their talents and networks effectively.
• Lead on the preparation of high-quality digital membership communication and related marketing and event materials.
• Oversee the establishment of an appropriate administration system to ensure effective membership tracking, due diligence, and to ensure that the S.P.A. has a robust, professional approach to member stewardship.
• Ensure all membership delivery complies with our internal protocols and all external regulations.
• To attend relevant S.P.A in person events.
• To be an active ambassador for the organisation and carry out any other related duties deemed commensurate with the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Passionate advocate for young people and a commitment to the School Partnerships Alliance’s central mission.
• A minimum of 3 years non-profit membership/communications/fundraising experience in a relevant role would be desirable.
• A proven track record of securing membership subsidies and/or donations from trusts and foundations, corporate partners and major donors.

As Healthcare Professional Education & Engagement Lead at Crohn's & Colitis UK, you will be integral in the development of healthcare professional online education and engagement networks in both primary and secondary care. You will also work on a variety of other healthcare professional projects. This is a role that is both fulfilling and challenging and requires travel to healthcare professional conferences. You will be supporting the Health Services Manager and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, all with a view to improving the quality and the standards of health services for all people affected by Crohn's and Colitis.

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. In this role, there is plenty of scope for doing that, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings and the charity meets four times a year in the office at our mandatory 'All Staff Together' days.
