We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the pressures facing our natural world and how citizen science and community action can help address these challenges, using high quality data, knowledge and practical demonstration to influence governments and corporations.

The Advocacy & Government Relations team leads the charity in influencing decision-makers and those whose policies, practices and decisions affect cat welfare across the UK. The small, highly motivated team works to influence legislators (national and devolved governments), professional organisations and corporates. The team has successfully influenced the law on microchipping, pet theft and commercial kitten sales in England and worked with the Scottish Government to regulate cat breeding and rehoming activities. The team also runs digital campaigns as part of its strategy.

- Experience of advocacy, public affairs or influencing work, ideally in Westminster

The development officer supports World Physiotherapy’s global development programmes and initiatives, working closely with the development programme manager and senior development officer. Duties and key responsibilities

The development officer will:

The Southmead Project is seeking an experienced and motivated Fundraiser to support the charity’s long-term financial sustainability.

The postholder will identify, research and secure funding from trusts, foundations, charitable bodies, statutory funders and other appropriate sources. They will lead on developing high-quality, persuasive funding applications and reports that clearly communicate the impact of the Southmead Project’s work and the needs of the people it supports.

Working closely with the CEO, Head of Finance and trustees, the Fundraiser will develop and deliver an annual fundraising plan, maintain a strong funding pipeline, and support the organisation to diversify its income.   Role Overview

The Governance Administration Officer will be an integral member of the Trust’s Governance and Administration Team, supporting the Governance & Compliance Manager to ensure the effective and efficient administration of governance and compliance activities of the Trust as well as providing administration support to the wider team alongside other administration staff.

Primary Responsibilities

 Governance

1. Provide administrative support to enable effective management of The Road Safety Trust’s Governance and Compliance activities.

2. Support co-ordination of RST Board and Committees. This may include timely preparing meeting packs, taking minutes, following up actions and organising logistics for virtual and physical meetings.

3. Maintain accurate Governance and Compliance registers e.g. conflicts of interest, skills matrices, Terms of Office records and end of year governance documents, ensuring accuracy and validity of information.

4. To ensure documentation in relation to RST Trustees is maintained appropriately.

5. Support Trustee recruitment and induction, coordinate Trustee training, and regulatory reporting.

6. Co-ordinate and monitor Policies and Procedures reviews and maintain the Policies register.

7. Provide support for the internal audit programme, coordinating audit meetings, compiling  documentation and assisting with actions and reports.

8. Support risk management information, including risk registers other compliance activities.

9. Provide support for Board and Committee reports and dashboards to demonstrate progress against key actions and service delivery at RST.

Administration

About the Role

This role is primarily based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, with the expectation of occasional travel to other hospital sites.

This post is within the Fundraising Team at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, which is the official charity of Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The purpose of the role is to help build relationships with the public and hospital staff within Queen Elizabeth Hospital, as well as with existing supporters.

The role includes proactively going out to meet people to provide information about the work of the Charity and inspiring people to fundraise for the Charity. It also involves spending time on the hospital wards meeting the clinical staff and supporting them with their fundraising efforts to raise money for their wards and departments and to benefit their patients. 

Working as part of a team, the post holder will have specific responsibility for accurate data inputting of donations, fundraising and Gift Aid claims and correspondence with donors and fundraisers.

This role will involve occasional evening and weekend work at charity events and events organised by our supporters.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

• Proactively helping to drive and increase income from community groups and individuals to advance the Charity's fundraising ambitions both individually and as part of a wider fundraising team.
• Providing excellent stewardship to key supporters and volunteers and build strong relationships with potential new supporters.
• Working alongside the Stewardship Team, ensuring accurate data inputting of donations, fundraising, Gift Aid claims and correspondence, both written and verbal, with supporters
• Building excellent relationships with clinical colleagues to ensure the different wards and departments are working effectively with the charity
• Collecting donations from across the hospital and meeting donors and fundraisers who come to the hospital.
• Working in our Charity Hub, working as part of a team to ensure that it is staffed during opening hours
• Organising and attending cheque presentations, charity stalls and bucket collections both on and off site
• Managing and prioritising unpredictable and frequently interrupted busy workload.
• Working with and deliver clear objectives and key performance indicators.
• Proactively contributing to the achievement of targets and the ongoing fundraising success of the Charity as a whole and to be a supportive, effective and collegiate team member.

COMMUNICATION 

• Relaying accurate and timely information to the fundraising team, communications team, grants team and stewardship team. Communicating with clinical and non-clinical staff within the hospital. Communicating with donors and fundraisers.
• Dealing with enquiries from the general public, disseminating information and ensuring that the appropriate action is taken, whilst maintaining the Charity’s policies and procedures

ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintaining Raiser's Edge donor management system. Accurate data inputting of donations, fundraising, Gift Aid declarations, thank you letters and general archiving, production and upkeep of databases.
• Recording fundraising activity for other members of the team, including amounts raised and events attended.
• To organise with the rest of the team and charity manning levels of the office to ensure a continual service to the public.
• Monitoring and managing stock levels of fundraising materials.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to present oneself in a professional manner as a representative of the hospital and the charity.
• To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of duty, including fundraiser and donor data.
• To maintain an accurate, effective database, recording essential information and providing statistical data in accordance with guidelines and policy using Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Office, Word and Access.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• To represent the Charity in a variety of different contexts and to a variety of different audiences.
• To ensure that a positive image of the hospital and the Charity is projected at all times.
• To hold a flexible approach to working hours (the role will require the post holder to work evenings and weekends as necessary).
• To hold a flexible approach to work when asked to take on other fundraising or admin duties when the team needs to cover holidays or at times of workload pressure.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive fundraiser who enjoys both bid writing and relationship building.

Working closely with the Fundraising Manager, you will play a key role in securing income from trusts and foundations, supporting donor stewardship, and helping to grow community fundraising activity. You will contribute directly to the financial sustainability of the charity while helping more children gain access to books of their own.

The role is ideally suited to someone who is highly organised, a strong writer, and confident managing multiple fundraising activities simultaneously.

In the last four years we have tripled our turnover, moved from delivery at one site to having thirteen outreaches and have doubled the number of clients we are seeing. We are now looking for an enthusiastic, full time Welfare Benefits Worker to build up a much needed Welfare Rights Unit.  We have a small unit of volunteers who support clients with appeals, and our next stage is to build a volunteer based form filling service.  Whilst holding a small caseload of your own, it is the development of this service that would be your principal task.

To be successful you will need to be a qualified Citizens Advice Adviser, preferably with experience of delivering Benefits casework, and to be able to develop and lead volunteers.  If the longer term Welfare Rights Unit project interests you but this post would not be an option for you as it stands, we would also welcome a conversation.

The role

This is a fixed-term parental leave cover post for 1 year. The post holder will step into the co-Executive Director role with co-responsibility for Foxglove's strategy, impact, advocacy, operations, fundraising and public facing work. The post holder will work very closely with Foxglove’s other co-Executive Director and will make all sizable decisions about Foxglove together. UK and international travel (approx. 20%) is required.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategy, Leadership and Impact

1.Serve as a member of Foxglove's leadership team, helping to set direction across the organisation.

2.Work closely with the co-Executive Director and Director of Advocacy to align Foxglove's legal, advocacy and operations work.

3.Represent Foxglove externally: to the press, at events, with funders (trusts, foundations & individual donors), members of parliament and with policymakers and allies.

4.Help ensure communities', workers' and affected individuals' voices are at the centre of all of Foxglove's work.

Advocacy and Campaigns

1.Oversee the work of Foxglove's advocacy team (led by our Director of Advocacy) and shape our overall approach to campaigning across digital, media and grassroots channels.

2.Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of allies – civil society organisations, unions, policymakers, regulators, journalists, academics, and international partners – to strengthen Foxglove's reach and influence.

Length and Salary

This is a fixed-term parental leave cover contract of 12 months. The annual salary is £98,800 per annum pro rata less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. Please note our pay is transparent and non-negotiable.

Our team works remotely; this role must be based in the UK, ideally London. Our team travels every two months for team days and annually for team retreats.

Role Description

The Operations and Finance Manager will play a central role in ensuring the effective day-to-day running of the Foundation. The postholder will lead on governance, administration, finance, compliance and organisational systems, ensuring the charity operates efficiently, meets its regulatory obligations and has the infrastructure required to deliver its strategic objectives.

Working closely with the Executive Director, team, Treasurer, and Trustees, the Operations and Finance Manager will oversee financial management, governance processes, organisational administration and operational planning, while also supporting fundraising activities to ensure the Foundation’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness.

• Proven experience in an operations or administrative management role within a charity, arts, or non-profit organisation.

Job Purpose

Sequence ME & Long Covid is one of the most ambitious whole-genome sequencing studies ever undertaken into ME and Long Covid, co-led by Action for ME. Building on the success of DecodeME, this proposed £20 million study will use large-scale, long-read whole-genome sequencing to analyse the entire genetic code of 9,000 people with ME and 9,000 people with Long Covid - making it the world's largest 'long-read' whole-genome sequencing study of any disease.

Current funding supports project mobilisation, partnership development, and the development of the Long Covid arm of the study, including agreeing case definitions and gathering expressions of interest from people with Long Covid. Phase 2 has recently been confirmed, backed by £4.75m from the UK government and a further £174,414 from the WE&ME Foundation, and will focus on sequencing 6,000 ME/CFS samples previously collected through DecodeME using Oxford Nanopore's long-read sequencing technology, running alongside Phase 1.

You will play a pivotal role supporting the Sequence ME & Long Covid project in several different ways. Working closely with the project's management team and other team members, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of this landmark study, providing administrative support to the various people and partners involved in delivering it.

As a self-starter, you will manage a range of tasks including meeting scheduling, taking meeting minutes, preparing governance documents, event administration, and broader project support - no two days will be the same.

You will need to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, particularly when supporting governance meetings and handling sensitive project documentation.

As a team player, you will provide comprehensive, confidential and organised administrative support, developing a deep understanding of the project and building strong, effective working relationships with colleagues, researchers and external partners.
