About The Role

We’re seeking a dynamic individual to support Medair UK’s engagement with trusts and foundations in the United Kingdom. Over the last 5 years income from trusts and foundations has gone from strength to strength increasing by 230% and the successful candidate will be part of the small team responsible for increasing this key area of funding. You will be an integral part of this growing Christian charity. You will enable support for the life-saving work Medair delivers to some of the world’s most vulnerable people by driving forward our relationships with UK trusts and foundations.

About You 

You will be a positive and solution focused fundraiser, ready to take initiative and embrace challenging targets. Ideally you will have experience in growing income from trust and foundations from both longstanding and new potential partners, or be able to demonstrate highly relevant transferable experience. You will be capable of compiling strong fundraising proposals; produce high quality reports; partner with financial colleagues in preparing complex budgets and financial reports. A compelling written communicator, you will have a keen understanding of the humanitarian sector, and of what motivates trusts and foundations to support this work. 

Key Activity Areas  

Lead Generation  

• Be responsible for account management of caseload of mid-range Trusts & Foundations.

• Work collaboratively with the Engagement Manager, Engagement Support Officer and volunteers in the identification, approach and management of UK Trusts and Foundations.  

• Regularly research and review opportunities for building potential relationships with prospective Trusts and Foundations and progressing relationships and applications with them through compelling communications. 

• Work with existing networks and contacts to identify and approach potential trusts and foundations and develop relationships with key decision makers there 

• Identify and pursue opportunities to increase income from existing Trust and Foundation relationships 

Communications and Management  

• Work towards an agreed target each year of engaged trusts and related income, both restricted project and unrestricted funds.

• Write compelling cases for support and proposals in order to secure grants 

• Effectively work with internal contacts throughout the global Medair organisation in the preparation of approved proposals, reports and supporting financial and impact information 

• Manage Medair’s engagement plan, initiating and delivering creative touchpoints throughout the year for all of Medair’s trust and foundation partners, as well as building relationships with trustees and representatives through video, online meetings, events and face-2-face opportunities 

Planning, monitoring and pipeline management  

• Maintain a good record of the application pipeline and CRM (salesforce), monitoring application output, income targets, fund allocations and reporting deadlines.

• Ensuring all grants from trusts and foundations are correctly allocated to Medair programmes, with the appropriate grant card on Medair’s project management platform and maintaining good contact with country programmes and finance partners throughout the lifecycle of Medair UK co-funded projects.

Internal Liaison  

• Liaise with Medair’s Heads of Country Programmes, Country Directors and Communications Officers in order to gather information and data for the purposes of applying and reporting to funders 

• Work collaboratively with finance colleagues in the preparation and approval of budgets and reports.

• Foster dynamic and mutually beneficial relationships with other fundraisers within Medair international and the affiliate offices, readily sharing proposals, reports and information.

 About the role

As a Principal Data Analyst in the Improvement Analytics Unit (IAU), you will collaborate with Senior Analytical Managers and Assistant Directors to develop and deliver an ambitious programme of work evaluating major health initiatives. You will lead IAU projects, support team members, and build relationships with key stakeholders at both local and national levels.

Initially the postholder will work predominantly within our growing technology-enabled change (TEC) evaluation programme. The TEC programme involves the causal evaluation of interventions or pathway changes in health and care enabled by innovative technology. The postholder may also work on projects on other programmes of work, including primary care and health system performance. Ideally the postholder will have experience of evaluations of new technologies or technology-enabled service change in health or care.

Managing multiple projects, you will identify, design, and take responsibility for the execution of new projects in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. You will lead and mentor Senior Data Analysts and Data Analysts and support their professional development. You will ensure all analyses and reports are of the highest quality and effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences. You will provide expert advice on causal analytical methods and study design, particularly relating to technology-enabled change.

Thrombosis UK is a small but impactful health charity focused on raising awareness, funding research, and supporting education around venous thromboembolism (VTE). What we want from you

We’re looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment – ideally within a community or events context. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering brilliant supporter experiences, building genuine relationships and stewarding fundraisers through their events. You’ll understand the importance of meeting supporter needs and how to keep them inspired and connected to the cause.

You’ll bring excellent organisational skills and experience of planning and managing projects with multiple stakeholders, making sure we hit our KPIs and maximise fundraising income. With knowledge of how to plan, deliver and evaluate marketing activity, including digital campaigns on Meta, you’ll be comfortable finding ways to engage new supporters and keep them motivated.

The Role

The Active Together Programme is designed to prepare people with cancer for, and recover from, treatment quickly and to assist them to maintain healthy lifestyles after their cancer diagnosis. Further, the research evidence shows that exercise, part of the Active Together Service, can improve survival and quality of life of cancer patients.

The charity will be delivering the Active Together programme through our new Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre at Hornbeam Park, Harrogate. The service is open to patients in Yorkshire. 

Reporting to the Head of Active Together, as Lead Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for establishing and delivering the physical activity component of the Active Together programme; training and managing a team of  Fitness Instructors who deliver the Active Together service; supporting and advising on a range of fitness activities / services to develop and deliver a rehabilitation service for adults with a cancer diagnosis; working collaboratively to deliver a multidisciplinary, inclusive and responsive service, ensuring customer service excellence and responding to service user diversity.

Specifically, you will:

Service delivery and operations

• Lead a team to deliver the Active Together service in the charity’s first bespoke cancer centre in Harrogate.
•  Manage and train the Fitness Instructors delivering the Active Together, Harrogate service.
• Implement evidenced based updates to the Active Together Service as provided by the AWRC to ensure the Active Together Programme is implemented correctly ensuring treatment fidelity and to ensure evaluation data is collected.
• Ensure the Active Together service provides advice, guidance and support to adult service users affected by cancer, adhering to service standards; providing high quality care and support.
• Ensure the services can cater to service users who may have difficulties relating to the complex emotional, psychological and physical aspects of their cancer diagnosis.
• Prepare for and confidently conduct initial appointments / assessments with new members and support the Fitness Instructors to independently deliver initial appointments/assessments.
• Create, evaluate and reassess individualised and group exercise plans to formulate a specialised programme of care for service users.
• Deliver group, and individual, exercise sessions as part of the Active Together Service.
• Provide in-depth guidance and support for a diverse range of queries; maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive issues with appropriate tact and diplomacy.
• Support or lead, where appropriate, specific projects/schemes/areas of work and evaluate the impact and effectiveness.

Communications

•  Assist with communications and the promotion of activities/services following an established set of protocols and principles, in collaboration with other areas delivering the Active Together programme as required.
• Support the development of online and public-facing resources and proactively ensure information is kept up to date and accurate e.g. social media channels, designated websites.

Key working relationships

•  Lead the team of Fitness Instructors by supporting them to develop their skills and knowledge.
• Allocate work and deploy resources to ensure they effectively manage their caseload of Active Together members ensuring staff work within relevant framework and to agreed service standards.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• To have a CIMPSA endorsed Level 4 qualification in Cancer and Exercise Rehabilitation.
• To have evidence of continued professional development relevant to the role purpose and level.
• To have experience of operating as a Lead Fitness Instructor.
• To have experience of confidently and professionally delivering safe and effective exercise classes and individual exercise programmes to people living with cancer.
• To have experience of carrying out risk assessments, exercise assessments and contributing to ongoing evaluation of services. prescribing personalised exercise programmes.
• To have in-depth knowledge of the benefits of exercise rehabilitation for people living with long term conditions including people living with cancer.
• To have outstanding customer service manner and customer service skills.
• To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills for delivering a service and working directly with Active Together members. 
• To be proficient at using Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel with the ability to input and interpret data, to ensure reliable analysis and informed decision making.
•  To have the ability and willingness to regularly travel across the Yorkshire region.
• To have flexibility to deliver weekend and evening classes as required.

What will I be doing?

• Working as a core part of our Cancer Awareness team to engage people face-to-face, providing information on cancer prevention, screening and early detection

• Organising and delivering Cancer Awareness presentations and training to community groups and supporting other public health initiatives in our Nurse-led Cancer Awareness activities

• Collecting and inputting data to evaluate local engagement activities

• Getting involved with other Cancer Awareness outreach activity in the local community

• Managing a team of Health Awareness Volunteers and supporting them to be involved with Cancer Awareness activity where appropriate.

What skills are you looking for?

• Registered Nurse - NMC registration is mandatory for this role and must be maintained at all times

• An interest in or experience of at least one of the following: health promotion, practice nursing, occupational health, health visiting, district/community nursing or other qualification/experience

• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage people in conversation and to use motivational interviewing techniques

• Proven experience in delivering public-facing work, and a good understanding of the challenges associated with engaging hard to reach groups and addressing health inequalities

• Ability to work flexibly and autonomously

• Responsible for aligning legacy acquisition and retention marketing to the individual giving programme, to maximise uptake and engagement. In conjunction with their manager, work together to develop new ideas and best practices to improve the number of legacy pledges and the income from In Memory fundraising to increase annual gift amounts
• Achieve income targets that support the delivery of fundraising goals aimed at delivering in excess of £3m+ per annum
• Campaign Management: Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, and social media, to maximize giving. Keep track of results and flag under or over performance in a timely manner

About the role

Funded by the Department for Education, the National Peer Support Service for England is a game-changing service that creates a sustainable and life-changing legacy. It builds on Kinship’s 10 years of experience in developing peer support groups and over two years of delivering a national service that has set up 145 new groups.

This role is community-based and focuses on engaging kinship carers, bringing them together to form peer support groups, and supporting them to achieve independence at which point they will receive ongoing support from our national Hub.

You will do this by working with local authorities, schools, other charities and community groups. Arranging information events such as coffee mornings to engage kinship carers. You’ll create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community for kinship carers, building belonging, resilience, and empowerment.

About you

We are seeking a dynamic person located in or close to Greater Manchester, and willing to travel into priority areas across the North West of England who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to: 

• Establish new peer support groups across a diverse range of communities 
• Supervise a small team of Peer Support Development Officers 
• Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to inspire yourself and your team to achieve key targets and objectives 
• Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective support services for the kinship community
• Support the sustainability of existing Peer Support Groups, taking the lead from the Hub (our network support Team)
• Keep precise records to create reports, extract learning, and share key insights throughout Kinship, enabling the organisation to enhance our services and products continuously

In the role of Senior Peer Support Development Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent, and sustainable peer support service that has a significant impact on the lives of kinship carers. 

You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey toward sustainability.

An essential requirement of the role is to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience of team leadership or line management and supervision of a small team and managing performance to deliver targets effectively.
• Proven experience in reaching and establishing strong relationships with hidden or underserved communities in person.
• Experience developing peer support communities.
• Proven experience of recruiting, managing, training and supporting volunteers in community settings with an emphasis on understanding and working with vulnerable volunteers.  
• Proven experience of ensuring outcomes and impacts of services is evidenced through high-quality data collection.  
• Evidence of delivering training/support to volunteers, 
• Strong facilitation skills and essential experience of peer support or user led groups with charity beneficiaries.  
• Understanding of safeguarding particularly around vulnerable families.

Youth Engagement Officer  

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Some nationwide travel expected for Youth Steering Group training days, events and conferences. After passing probation, up to six weeks ‘super remote’ working per year, where you can work anywhere in the world as long as you’re online for four hours of the UK workday.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2026 with the possibility to extend. 

Holidays: 38 days per year, including our 3-day winter shut down and eight flexible bank holidays.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time) Please note as this role works with young people there will be occasions where your working hours will be outside the standard 9-5:30pm. This will typically be a few meetings per month that can last until 7pm and about four weekend days over the year. This is to ensure our activities fit around the young people’s education and work commitments.

The Fair Education Alliance (FEA) unites 300 member organisations under a shared vision that no child’s success is limited by their socioeconomic background.

Our members (charities and social enterprises, think tanks, businesses and foundations, youth organisations, unions, universities and schools) are working collectively to create an inclusive system. We exist to close the gap in educational outcomes between children from low-income households and their wealthier peers. 

This autumn, we’re kicking off our next strategic phase, which will take our work from neighbourhood to national, building a movement for systems change towards a fairer future for children and young people.

You would be joining the organisation at a very exciting time as our youth engagement work is growing and building momentum across the sector. In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in youth engagement across our membership, have supported Ofsted and Department for Education to their youth participation in policy making and our Youth Steering Group hosted our biggest ever Fair Education Youth Summit. This role will play a critical part in the success of taking this work forward. As the Youth Engagement Officer, you will work with our Head of Youth Engagement to ensure our Youth Steering Group can lead their own campaign activities, engage directly with decision makers, and collaborate with other young people to bring about the change they want to see. You will also support and manage the logistics of our Youth Summit, Youth Engagement Working Group and other youth engagement events. 

What we’re asking of you  

Support our Youth Steering Group to feel safe and confident as they co-lead our Alliance and create change

Our Youth Steering Group is made up of 25 brilliant young people, aged 14-24, who draw on their lived experience of the different barriers to accessing a fair education, to campaign for change. You will support the young people to lead their own campaign activity, write their monthly Youth Bulletin and engage directly with policy makers. You will also help the group to participate in FEA decision making, support the design and facilitation of their monthly meetings and training days, help them make progress against their personal development plans. This role will include working directly with young people, session planning and facilitation, policy research and managing logistics.

Ensure the Fair Education Youth Summit is a success and remains truly youth-led  

Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.

Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice  

Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. You will also support the facilitation of the workshops and ensure the attendee data and feedback is correctly logged and actioned. The critical responsibilities of this role are described above. They may be subject to reasonable changes from time to time in line with business need and the decisions of the youth leaders we support.

OUTLINE OF THE ROLE

Work with the Trustees to devise and lead new fundraising initiatives that fulfil the objectives of the Trust's Fundraising Strategy and annual income budget, with particular focus on regular giving across all alumni, gifts from high-net-worth individuals, and legacies. This will involve:

• Developing and delivering improved communications to build a stronger connected donor network.

• Locating, engaging and retaining alumni to support and promote the Trust, focused on ensuring their long-term impact on the Trust and its beneficiaries.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to devise and implement new fundraising initiatives.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to identify and engage new volunteers to support the Trust's activities.

KEY TASKS

Work with the Trustees and Fundraising Committee to devise and implement the following:

• Improve communications

The Trust has a strong, growing, and engaged network of loyal alumni who already support the Trust's beneficiaries through fundraising and volunteering. However, the Trust's communications need to be improved in order to increase the numbers of donors who provide sustained financial support and inspire all donors to raise their level of donations. Continually find opportunities to engage new donors and ensure clear consistent messaging.

• Manage and maintain donor data

The Trust needs to maintain a full and accurate database of all donors and fundraising activities to support long-term tracking and inform future fundraising. This also requires networking among alumni and being vigilant to changes in alumni data.

• Research and approach alumni whose connection with the Trust has lapsed

Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

• Research untapped prospects

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the charity and its overall objectives. For instance, organizing fund-raising specific events in different regions. This position could evolve into a full-time commitment with a support team, but at the present time, support to this role will be provided through the existing network of volunteers.
