About the role

This is a key role within the Communications team at RUSI, focused on collaborating with colleagues within the team and across the Institute to ensure all research outputs are effectively promoted across various channels. You will be the main communications point of contact for our seven research groups, requiring you to develop a deep understanding of our research portfolio and devise and manage plans to significantly increase the impact of RUSI’s research.

Key tasks

Providing cover for maternity leave, the role will include, but not be limited to:

• Serve as the primary point of coordination for the Communications team, streamlining communications and lines of effort between research and communications teams.
• Lead the management of the Communications team's forward planner. You'll coordinate with other supporting functions including Publications and Events to proactively capture upcoming content, and ensure this information is shared effectively.
•        Lead the development and execution of communications plans for new research reports and activities, overseeing the entire project lifecycle.
•     Manage the plans for upcoming publications by collaborating with the Head of Research Governance and Editorial Publications. Proactively schedule meetings with researchers at key points in the publication timeline.
•        Oversee the logistical and administrative needs for research communication plans, including calendar management for key personnel, preparing post meeting materials, and overseeing project correspondence to ensure seamless communication.
•        Coordinate with the publications team to set strategic release dates for publications, aligning with the institute's overall calendar and major events.
•     Manage the publication of web content for various RUSI outputs, primarily podcasts by overseeing updates and maintenance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and optimal performance.
•        Support the Marketing Manager in the promotion of events across multiple channels, including drafting and scheduling email campaigns, reminders, and follow-ups, as well as contributing to wider promotional activity.
•       Assist the Marketing Manager in coordinating with other teams to prepare newsletters and managing distribution to the appropriate mailing lists.

Person Specification

Essential skills and experience:

•  Able to work independently and as part of a team, quickly forming effective relationships with colleagues and   other teams. The role requires close coordination with our research, publications and events teams and within the communications function
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, track deadlines and coordinate activity across different teams.
•  Ability to take complex topics and be creative in packaging them for different audiences, making them accessible to both experts and non-experts.
•  Experience with CRM Systems: Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools for managing contact databases and segmenting email audiences.

Desirable skills and experience:

•  Direct experience working within a think tank, academic institution, or policy-focused NGO, ideally in a communications capacity, is a significant plus.
•   Email Marketing Experience: Practical knowledge of using Email Service Providers (ESPs, e.g.: Mailchimp), for drafting, scheduling, and deploying email newsletters.
•    Social media management and analytic tool experience: preferably Sprout.
• Basic Design Skills: Competence with design tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) for creating basic visual assets like social media graphics, simple charts, or report covers.

The Communications & Marketing Manager will lead our communications, brand and digital presence, ensuring Cardiomyopathy UK reaches and engages the people who need us most. This is a hands-on role for a skilled communicator who can balance strategic thinking with delivery. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team, clinical experts, fundraisers and our community to tell powerful stories and drive meaningful engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Brand

• Lead the development and delivery of Cardiomyopathy UK’s communications and marketing strategy.
• Manage and maintain the charity’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all channels, publications and partnerships.
• Produce high-quality written content including blogs, newsletters, web copy, reports, press releases, campaign assets and patient stories.
• Support internal colleagues across departments with communications planning, copywriting and brand guidance.

Digital Marketing (Website & Social Media)

• Oversee content, structure and performance of the Cardiomyopathy UK website, working with external developers where required.
• Manage social media channels (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), including planning, creating and scheduling high-quality content.
• Monitor digital analytics and provide insights and recommendations to improve reach, engagement and conversion.
• Lead email marketing activity, including newsletters, segmentation and performance monitoring.

Campaigns & Awareness

• Plan and deliver integrated awareness and marketing campaigns aligned to strategic priorities including early diagnosis, patient support services, fundraising and major events.

• Work with partners, funders and patient contributors to develop compelling stories and campaign assets.

Media & Public Relations

• Act as the first point of contact for media enquiries and support the CEO and spokespeople with interview preparation.
• Build relationships with journalists, sector press and broadcast media to raise awareness of cardiomyopathy and the charity’s work.
• Draft press releases, media lines and Q&A briefs for key announcements and campaigns.

Cross-Organisational & Matrixed Working

About the role

You will lead and manage projects that support on the development and delivery of a pipeline of insightful Musculoskeletal (MSK) and health data analysis and quantitative research, to better understand the UK population with MSK conditions and to inform the direction of our ambitions, strategy, policy and services work. This includes obtaining, analysing, publishing and presenting MSK epidemiological and health data, and working with others to influence improved quality, coverage and use of MSK health data.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Demonstrate sound knowledge of epidemiological research methods and health metrics (such as incidence and prevalence)
• Strong experience using of statistical software e.g. R, Stata, SPSS
• Strong experience using NHS and other national health-based datasets, and a good understanding of UK health and social care systems
• Experience of using multiple sets of health-related data and information systems, and large-scale data sets for policy, quality improvement or research purposes
• Experience of using data to improve the understanding of health inequalities and disparities for public health purposes

The Role 
 
As Deputy Shop Manager at our Ripon Shop you will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. Working within our Policy and Public Affairs team, the Senior Policy Officer will work across the Nuffield Foundation family to enable evidence-based influence among a broad range of stakeholders including Government, parliamentarians, other policymakers at national and regional level and the third sector.

The role of Retail Development Manager is crucial to the income growth and audience reach of The Children’s Trust retail function. About the Role

The Producer: Public Programme (maternity cover) will work on the delivery of artist and curator-led talks, screenings, performance events, workshops and tours. Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT) is looking for a proactive individual with good storytelling skills to produce fundraising applications and reports that inspire. As part of GCT’s Fundraising & Communications team, you will work closely with the Senior Development Manager to secure grant funding from Trusts & Foundations across our programme portfolio (including island restoration, community resilience, ocean protection and plastic pollution topics), with an increasing focus on securing multi-year funding to embed sustainability in our programme delivery.

You will be a great writer, researcher and comfortable working with numbers, enabling you to identify new fundraising opportunities and develop engaging proposals and reports with clear budgets. You will also be an organised individual with great attention to detail, ensuring you can effectively balance your time across competing deadlines and tasks.

• 1-2 years proven experience in Trusts & Foundations fundraising. 

• Experience working with budgets in Excel. 

• Experience of working with a database and managing contact lists and records. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Increasing restricted & unrestricted income from Trusts & Foundations in line with GCT’s fundraising strategy with the Senior Development Manager 

• Supporting keeping our database, internal documents and files up-to-date and GDPR compliant for Trusts & Foundations and external contacts. 

• Producing high quality proposals and reports, ensuring consultation of key GCT team members and partners in their development, and submitting these to meet all deadlines. 

• Support the Senior Development Manager with applications for multi-year grants, such as writing and budget inputs, Theory of Change inputs and organising supplementary materials. 

• Helping to maintain excellent relationships with existing funders via bespoke outreach and thank you letters, project updates as appropriate, and semi-regular communications on GCT materials/events. 

• Proactively researching potential funders and supporting the Senior Development Manager and Senior Leadership Team members on their cultivation. 

• Reviewing fundraising success from Trusts & Foundations and developing annual fundraising plans with the Senior Development Manager. 

• Supporting the Senior Development Manager with Trusts & Foundations income and fundraising pipeline updates to GCT’s Senior Leadership Team and Trustees as required. 

• When grants are successful, lead or support the Senior Development Manager with handover actions to the Programmes team to ensure project budgets, timelines and donor expectations are clear.

You’ll be part of the policy and campaigns team, responsible for ensuring our client maintains its position as a credible, influential stakeholder in the eyes of government, NHS systems and physician members.  

You’ll join the organisation just as it finalises its new strategy and decides its new areas of policy focus for the coming year. You’ll play a critical role in developing and delivering policy work on a range of high-profile topics to ensure we influence healthcare policy and the implementation of the 10 Year Health Plan.

You’ll need a sharp eye for detail and be able to quickly and accurately interpret and communicate complex information. You’ll use your enthusiasm, skills and experience to work with members to explore and turn their views into coherent policy positions. You will have strong experience of analysing policy developments in the external landscape and making recommendations for how to evolve policy positioning in response. You will brief the president, senior officers and senior staff for meetings and play an active role in engaging external stakeholders in NHS systems and the wider sector. You will provide lead support to an advisory group, working closely with the chair to set and deliver a workplan.

For 40 years, NEF has turned big ideas, rigorous research and community power into real-world change. At this critical moment in politics, we’re looking for a talented researcher to join our team.

The late Lord Kerslake was a lifelong advocate for social justice and worked tirelessly in his career and in retirement to promote access to secure, affordable housing for all. At the time of his untimely passing he was Chair of the New Economics Foundation (NEF), the Peabody Trust and the Kerslake Commission on Homelessness and Rough Sleeping hosted by St Mungo’s. These three organisations have come together to honour Bob by creating a Kerslake Fellowship to work on improving outcomes in housing and homelessness, and especially for social housing.

Employed at NEF for a two-year contract initially, this role will help develop policy and practice capable of delivering big shifts in housing policy that will result in genuinely affordable, high quality and secure homes for all. The Kerslake Fellow will produce high-quality research that will help build the evidence base in social housing and homelessness, generate recommendations for actions that will lead to better outcomes, and build relationships with key stakeholders that will help deliver policy change.

We’re looking for someone with a relevant degree (or equivalent experience), a solid understanding of the housing sector and the challenges and opportunities it faces. At least three to five years’ experience in planning, developing and managing multi-stakeholder projects and/​or campaigns. Just as important is the ability to ability to deal with people at all levels, internally and externally, demonstrable organisational and administrative skill and a commitment to building the new, environmentally sustainable economy with redistribution of power and resources at its core.
