About the role

Reporting in to the Director of Organisational Effectiveness, the Head of Health, Safety, Security & Safeguarding is a key role for Christian Aid and will inspire, design and drive Christian Aid's Global Safe strategy, in respect of safety, security, and safeguarding, ensuring that staff in the UK, overseas offices, and partner organisations operate in a safe, secure, and well-supported environment.

The post-holder will be the custodian of a safe culture, ensuring that it aligns with the global culture programme and overall people strategy and be the organisation's safeguarding and security ambassador and expert, acting both internally and externally as a thought leader, challenging appropriately and bringing external expertise to Christian Aid.

Some of the main responsibilities and accountabilities for the role are:

-Monitor and assess security risks in operational locations, providing guidance on crisis response and emergency planning.

-Model a culture of continuous learning through training staff and partners on security awareness, travel safety, and incident response protocols.

-Maximise impact Develop through the development of crisis management plans for security incidents, safeguarding concerns, and emergency situations.

-Foster continuous improvement with legal, HR, and program teams to ensure safety and safeguarding policies align with regulatory and donor requirements.

-Facilitate opportunities with external security, safeguarding, and humanitarian networks to strengthen best practices.

About you

The essential key skills and experience that we are looking for are:

-Significant experience in safety, security, and safeguarding roles, preferably in international NGOs, humanitarian organisation, or development agencies.

-Significant exposure to working in high-risk, conflict, or disaster-affected environments, managing safety and security for field teams.

-Advanced knowledge of global safeguarding frameworks, including protection of vulnerable groups, PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and child safeguarding and how they apply in humanitarian contexts.

-Extensive experience in crisis response, risk assessment, and emergency planning for international staff and partners.

-Leadership experience in developing and delivering training on security awareness, safeguarding, and risk management.

-Proven ability to develop and implement security and safeguarding policies across multiple locations.

-Advanced understanding of global security protocols, crisis management, risk assessment, and incident response, particularly in volatile or conflict zones.

-Expertise in managing security risks, conducting security assessments, and developing crisis management plans.

-Awareness of international legal frameworks, including those related to human rights, security, and safeguarding in field operations.

-Knowledge of staff wellbeing strategies, trauma response, and resilience-building in high-risk or stressful environments.

We’re seeking a Finance Manager to lead robust financial reporting and governance across 80 parish sites, while supporting central operations from our Crawley base.

In this key role, you’ll produce timely and accurate management accounts, oversee cloud-based reporting, and lead on the preparation of annual statutory accounts. You’ll be the primary contact for external auditors and play a central part in reporting to our Trustees and Diocesan Finance Committee.

You’ll also manage cashflow forecasting, tax compliance, treasury and investment activity, and VAT (for one subsidiary). Charity sector experience is highly desirable, but your collaborative, flexible leadership—especially of a diverse network of staff and volunteer finance teams—will be most essential.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll oversee the support of cloud-based reporting for 80 parish sites and the delivery of timely, accurate management accounts for central operations based at our Crawley site. You will have a key role in providing high-quality financial reporting to our Trustees and Diocesan Finance Committee (DFC). You'll also lead the team in producing statutory audited accounts, acting as the principal contact for external auditors.

With additional responsibility for cashflow forecasting, treasury and investment management, tax compliance, VAT (for one subsidiary), and gift aid, this role ensures that the Diocese maintains robust financial governance. While Charity sector experience is a significant advantage in this position, it is your flexible and positive leadership of a diverse staff and volunteer finance community across some 80 sites that will set you apart.

About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school.

Purpose of the role

 

The Community Centre Manager will play a key role in the leadership and smooth running of the Community Centre managing change, growth and performance as agreed with the Board of Trustees.

Working closely with the trustees, employees, consultants, contractors, volunteers and other local organisations, the Manager will work to ensure the Community Centre is a vibrant, well-managed facility that operates within a sustainable framework for the benefit of local residents and organisations. They will also promote the profile, role and impact of the Centre.

 

Principle duties and responsibilities

Management of the Community Centre

 

Manage the operations of the Community Centre and its staff and the development and delivery of activities and facilities in line with the business and strategic plan. Ensure compliance with employment law and that we follow good practice with regard to HR.

Contribute to the planning, development, implementation and delivery of the business and strategic plan and present regular progress updates to the Board.

Oversee the maintenance of the building - including building maintenance and improvement programmes.

Lead on and contribute to identifying and apply for funding from local and national organisations. Role will also lead on ensuring aims are met and reporting of outcomes to funding organisation.

Manage and monitor all aspects of risk assessments, health and safety and security as required by regulation or good practice including, in conjunction with the Trustees, the review and updating of policies and procedure.

Ensure all Community Centre policies and procedures are complied with, including any Government restrictions/guidance.

Lead on General Data Protection Regulation and Safeguarding, maintaining records to ensure the charity fulfils all its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities.

Ensure programme of activities delivered within the Park Centre align with the charitable aims of the organisation and ensure that it is relevant to local community, responding to needs and raising the profile of the Centre.

 

Management of staff and Volunteers

Create a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed, dignity at work is upheld and staff and volunteers can achieve their best.

Ensure effective management of HR including recruitment, supervision and development of employees and volunteers, including carrying out DBS checks as necessary.

Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and best working practices.

Ensure employees, consultants, contractors, volunteers work collaboratively with each other and with users of the facilities, in a safe and constructive way.

Oversee the Community Centre’s complaints procedure, and the proper handling, investigation and resolution of any complaints against the Centre, its staff and volunteers.

Continue developing and maintaining relationships with various local partners to ensure activities at the Community Centre fit with others provided in the area. 

Positively represent the Centre and the community at partner and other meetings/events to raise the profile of the Community Centre and to ensure the views and needs of the community are prioritised and included.

Continue to strengthen the reputation of the Community Centre by giving maximum visibility to its activities and achievements.

Ensure through listening to the community, monitoring and evaluating provision and adapting the service, the Centre meets the needs of the local community.

Prepare reports for and attend all Board and annual general meetings.

 

PR/Marketing and Fundraising

Oversee the development and implementation of an income generation & marketing strategy.  

Develop strategies to promote the use and profile of the Community Centre, maximising use of social media, publicity opportunities and liaison with the local media.  

Identify and secure new funding through grant applications and other means.  

Continue maintaining and developing positive relationships with funders, both grant makers, sponsors and individuals.

Financial management

Liaise with the treasurer and accountant in setting and managing budgets and maintain an overview of the financial position of the Community Centre.

Code invoices to ensure that income and expenditure is allocated to correct projects. 

Ensure completion of reports/returns to statutory bodies and funders and compilation of grant applications. 

Ensure best practice in all financial matters.

 

Project Management 

Support and oversee the continued delivery of high-quality services and activities.

Ensure all project leads are liaised with regularly to ensure compliance with objectives and outcomes.

Devise and implement robust impact monitoring and evaluation strategies for all projects. 

Ensure all projects are correctly risk assessed and supported.

The Park Centre Kingswood has a small team of employees, contractors, volunteers and a wide range of activities. it is expected that the post holder will be flexible in assisting in areas of work which go beyond their main duties. In particular, the holder of this post will be expected to assist with covering frontline reception and administrative duties and attendance at and/or supervision of events outside of normal working hours.

About you

You’ll run day-to-day IT operations while accelerating our cloud-first strategy—managing and optimising Azure, Microsoft 365 and Azure AD, and decommissioning legacy servers in a secure, well-governed way. The remit covers network resilience, backup and disaster recovery, MFA/SSPR and threat protection, along with knowledge management through SharePoint and our intranet. Our Homecare service has a dynamic team of Coordinators and Field Care Supervisors who will look to you to be proactive and fully engaged in managing the team, strengthening our organisational provision and making sure the team can be free to focus on their incredible work with the vulnerable of London.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE

o To provide a high-quality homecare service that support the rights of our clients to live the lives they choose in a person-centred way

o Efficiently manage the day to day running of the Homecare charity including:

· Allocate resources and monitor performance to deliver high quality homecare to clients within budget

· Manage all aspects of the staff team and provide sound leadership to ensure staff are clear about their respective duties and responsibilities and have the support they need to carry out their roles safely and happily

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

o Manage the safety and quality of the service in line with legislative requirements and charity’s policy and procedures

o Undertake training and development to keep up to date with the law, best practice and changes in company policy. Apply this knowledge to day-to-day management and delivery of care

o Understand and monitor health and safety in the workplace and in the field. Act as lead for infection prevention and control

o Maintain full and accurate records and reporting systems in accordance with legal requirements and to ensure the effective running of the service. 

o Implement quality management and improvement systems. Effectively manage complaints and incidents. Carry out investigations relating to the quality of the service and use findings to make improvements

Lead & Manage Staff:

o Manage the effective recruitment, induction and training of the coordinator (s), supervisor (s), care workers and other support staff, ensuring there are sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff allocated appropriately to meet service needs at all times

o Identify ongoing training needs and ensure staff are up to date with current best practice

o Implement company policy and procedures in relation to managing absence, disciplinary, capability and grievance matters

o Provide information, guidance and ongoing supervision to enable staff to effectively and safely carry out their roles

o Carry out appraisals and monitoring of staff performance

o Ensure all emergency on-call issues are dealt with effectively, such as covering calls either directly or indirectly when care workers are sick or absent.

About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school.

Working with the Lead Youth Worker you will: 

Homework Clubs

•Collect up to date consent information for all young people joining Future Foundations

•Support with creating session plans for club nights

•Research and source necessary resources activities 

•Support to plan and run engaging and fun activities/ongoing projects for the young people

•Ensure children’s participation and encourage ownership of and responsibility for the Clubs

As Senior Partnerships and Programmes Officer you will work closely with our SPOs who manage existing partnerships and create opportunities to bring partners together to learn from one another. We are looking for someone with experience supporting peacebuilding, development or humanitarian projects, with a good understanding of peacebuilding approaches, and who can build effective, trust-based relationships with local partners. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

 

About the role:

You will work closely with our regional and country teams to ensure contract delivery in line with objectives, and overall compliance with donor and MAG requirements. Reporting to the Director of Programmes, you will directly support on day-to-day incident management, as well as acting as a focal point ensuring coordinated, timely, and appropriate support to programmes from other departments. You will ensure effective management oversight on business planning objectives, and on occasion on the delivery of strategic projects. You will work closely with our Regional Directors to develop new programme activities, including supporting assessments, planning, and project mobilisation.

 

About you:

You will be a senior humanitarian professional with significant experience working in an NGO with a focus on international programme management and delivery across multiple country contexts. You will be experienced in the critical assessment, development, and implementation of management structures and systems designed to improve overall delivery of activities. You will be an excellent communicator, with significant experience coordinating programme delivery and support functions including human resource management, logistics and procurement, finance and compliance. You will be a strategic leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate and influence to drive change. You will be ready to travel internationally, including to insecure and conflict-affected areas, and have a solid understanding of geopolitical dynamics and their security impact. Ultimately you will be proactive, tenacious, pragmatic, and committed to MAG’s mission, values, and approach.
