THE DETAILS
Feeling Strong is an exciting Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health and wellbeing challenges by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. Our services are designed by young people, delivered by young people for the benefit of young people, and we believe that this youth-led/peer-led approach is our biggest asset in tackling issues around mental health and wellbeing. We support stable recovery journeys for young people, lead campaigns to tackle societal issues, develop quality resources based on our own research, and tackle the disparity they face in unemployment, underemployment and accessing opportunities like further and higher education.
YOUR COMMITMENT
Whilst the Trustee Board meets for formal meetings 6 times a year, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the organisation more widely, taking part in fundraisers, external events, strategic planning and advising the staff team when needed. The average contribution expected of Trustees is around one - two hours per month.
Work-related travel costs will be reimbursed.

St Leonards Youth & Community Centre are looking for someone with accounting experience to join the Board as a Trustee to advise on financial matters, ensure we meet our financial obligations, and help us build a sound financial strategy.
What will you be doing?
As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the charity and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable. The Treasurer leads the financial affairs of the charity and ensures that they are conducted within required legal and accounting best practice. It is also the responsibility of the Treasurer to work in partnership with the Chairperson and other trustees to ensure the financial viability and development of the organisation.
Key tasks:
- ensure the board fulfils its financial responsibilities
- ensure that the Charity has proper systems for budgeting, financial control, insurance and reporting
- inform the trustee board members of the finances of the Charity by written report, at least on a quarterly basis ensuring that the board have a clear picture of the financial health of the food bank
- ensure that financial reports: are comprehensible and properly discussed at trustee board meetings; are provided in the proper format and at the proper time, as required by the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales); have properly appointed auditors or independent examiners, as our income is over £25K
Other responsibilities, along with the board of trustees, include:
- to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives

Brent Foodbank are looking for someone with to join the board as its new Secretary of Trustees to lead on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees.
Key tasks
Secretary of Trustees Responsibilities:
- To ensure that there is a record of all Trustee board correspondence
- To ensure that arrangements for Trustee meetings are communicated to the rest of the board, including when and where, inviting trustees to send agenda items and providing to the board with previous meeting minutes in good time prior to the meeting.
- To ensure decisions and policy creation/adaption are clearly recorded in formal minutes, with who will do what and when as agreed by the Trustee board.
- Ensure formal minutes are taken, produced and distributed to the rest of the trustees in good time, as well as ensuring previous meeting minutes are signed by the chair once approved by the trustee board.
- To check that actions have been taken following decisions at previous meetings.

From Dartmouth to Dawlish, our teams provide comfort, support and a range of specialist services to care for 2500 patients with life limiting illnesses every year across South Devon. The charity is at an exciting stage of its development and has recently commenced an ambitious and challenging business plan to secure its future sustainability, ensuring it meets the changing demographic needs of the local community. Our care is provided at home, in the community and at our Inpatient Unit in Torquay. We’re committed to supporting families and carers for as long as they need us.
The present Board includes retired and working-age people with a range of clinical and business skills as well as rich life experiences. Board meetings are held four times per year with an additional small number of meetings in sub-committees.
You will represent the Hospice within the community and be an active participant in the building of strategy for the Hospice’s future development. The role of the Board is one of governance and strategic guidance, not executive management.

What will you be doing?

- To ensure the charity is accountable, actively complying with statutory accounting and reporting requirements and the law.
- To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place for future budget allocations as well as looking after contractual agreements with external partners that award money for core costs and additional projects.
- To help promote the organisation to a wide audience of potential funders and beneficiaries and community stakeholders.
- To ensure the food bank has appropriate procedures to: comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding & GDPR compliance/data protection etc.
- To act with reasonable care and skill, giving your time, thought and energy to your role.
- To prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.
- To provide ad hoc support to the staff team and volunteers from time to time.

About Newlife
As one of the UK’s leading charities providing essential specialist equipment to children with disabilities, Newlife is dedicated to making life better - for the families we serve, and for the people who help us to make that happen.
Through grants and emergency equipment loans, we ensure children get the vital equipment they need, when they need it, while our free nurse helpline offers crucial support and information – as well as a listening ear. Our campaigns help to give children with disabilities and their families a voice, advocating for change to benefit the families we serve. And we support adults with additional needs with volunteering and employment opportunities, providing an introduction to the workplace and a means for career development.

We’re now seeking new Trustees to strengthen our Board and help shape the future of our vital work.
Who we’re looking for
We welcome applications from individuals with a strong commitment to inclusion, equity, and our mission. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Retail & Commercial – helping us grow and develop our network of charity shops and enterprise initiatives.
- Digital Systems & Infrastructure – supporting digital transformation, data management, and IT governance.
- Disability – lived or professional experience of disability, access and inclusion.
- Children’s Services – knowledge of child development, safeguarding, or children’s policy.
Previous trustee or governance experience is welcome but not essential. We offer support and induction for all new trustees.
Trustee responsibilities
- Attend and contribute to quarterly Board meetings (hybrid format, with at least one in-person meeting in Cannock annually)
- Provide strategic direction and oversight
- Uphold good governance and regulatory compliance
- Contribute to committees or working groups aligned with your expertise
- Act as an ambassador for Newlife, upholding our values and promoting our work
- Trustees are expected to dedicate time to meeting preparation, email communications, and occasional events, equating to roughly 1–2 hours per month outside of meetings.

Jak’s World is a UK-based mental health charity working to prevent suicide in the community. We honour the legacy of Jakub Halani — a creative, kind, and deeply loved teenager — by ensuring that no young person feels alone, hopeless, or without a future.
Our mission is to prevent suicide by fostering hope, connection, and resilience-ensuring that no one faces their darkest moments alone.
We do this by:
· Promoting mental health awareness through creative community engagement, programmes and events.
· Providing suicide prevention resources and support, including Suicide First Aid Training

Becoming a trustee

Location: Nottinghamshire - we hope our Trustees have a deep understanding of local people. Our Board meetings and AGM take place in person (with the exception of the January meeting which is online).
Responsibilities within the role:

What is the time commitment?
The charity holds four full board meetings per year in Nottingham, with each meeting lasting around 2 hours. Meetings take place quarterly on the third Thursday of October, January, April and July.
In addition, Trustees need to set aside a minimum of 2 hours reading time before each board meeting.
. The AGM follows the board meeting on the third Thursday of October, with the meeting lasting around 1.5 hours. In addition, a minimum of 1 hour reading time is required prior to the AGM.
• There may be specific occasions when a Trustee is required to attend an event to open/close it, such as our annual staff conference
• Get to know the charity’s services and infrastructure within the first 3 years/initial tenure of the post and continue to have contact with relevant departments during subsequent 3-year tenures. Feedback on service/infrastructure visits is a standard Board agenda item.
. The charity board also has a Finance & Audit Committee which has its own Terms of Reference and has meetings separate from the Full Board Meetings. The membership of this committee is determined by the Board
• Trustees serve a three-year term of office and can be re-elected to serve additional three-year terms
What training will you be given?
We offer a full induction programme and ongoing support from the charity, other Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team plus occasional external development.
Who we're looking for:
The Trustee role is open to all those who are either a trained lawyer or who has a strong legal background and in addition, the Board of Trustees particularly welcomes experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Issues relating to work with, and for, older people or lived experience and potentially any of the following skills.
- Legal Skills
- Fundraising
- Public Relations and Marketing
- Campaigning
- Education and Learning
- Digital Strategy
- HR
- Strategy and planning skills and performance monitoring in commercial and/or not-for-profit organisations
- Developing and monitoring budgets
