Job description

Welcome to Ada!

We are the Government’s National College for Digital Skills and are passionate about educating and empowering the next generation of diverse digital talent through our Sixth Form and our Apprenticeship Programme. We are a growing college with a Sixth Form and Apprenticeship Programme in London Victoria and Manchester. Our student body is diverse and we are committed to using tech as a tool for social mobility. 

All of our students study computer science for at least 70% of their curriculum; our wider curriculum offering affords our learners extensive contact with our industry partners through our skills curriculum, guest speakers, work place visits, exceptional interactions, coaching program and industry projects. 

Our students achieve highly across all subjects and progress to an amazing range of destinations. Our current cohort of Y13 learners have received fantastic offers from a host of Russell Group Universities, as well as employers to join their respective apprenticeship schemes.

Purpose of the Role

You will provide administrative support to our skills curriculum, that we deliver to every learner across Y12 and Y13, as well as support our learners to build their knowledge of their progression options by supporting the many industry and university interactions we curate. This will require meaningful collaboration with our Sixth Form team, our learners, as well as the External Relations Team. You will also be tasked to provide administrative support to our T-level learners when they are on their industry placements. This is an immensely rewarding role for the right candidate and will play a substantial part in a student’s progression during their two years of study in our sixth form. 

Main Responsibilities

To support the delivery of our skills curriculum by providing all administrative support necessary to facilitate:

  • Teaching staff to secure learner engagement in their skills development; 
  • External third parties to contribute to the skills curriculum;
  • Industry volunteers and wider Ada staff to assess learners’ skills.

To provide all administrative support necessary to facilitate, amongst others:

  • In college workshops from universities;
  • Campus visits; 
  • Exceptional higher education interactions.
  • Industry Interactions

To provide all administrative support necessary to facilitate: 

  • Guest speakers
  • Work place visits
  • Exceptional interactions
  • The coaching programme
  • Industry projects

T-Level

To provide all administrative support necessary to support T-level learners on their respective work placements. 

Other Administration and Organisational support

  • To support the organisation and delivery of student recruitment events including Open Evenings and Assessment centres.
  • Provide first aid support, including liaising with or training to become a First Aider.
  • Provide fire safety support, including liaising with or training to become a Fire Warden or Fire Marshall

Essential Experience

  • Evidence of the Ada values: Creativity, Curiosity, Collaboration, Resilience and Rigour
  • Experience working with young adults (14 - 24 years)
  • Experience coordinating events
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships and engagement with young people, parents and carers and colleagues

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting young people
  • Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice
  • Proven track record of effective coordinating and managing of events involving multiple stakeholders 

Personal Qualities, Aptitudes and Skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A passion for supporting young people to realise their potential and progress
  • Strong collaborative working skills
  • High level of proficiency in the use of day to day IT systems
  • Good workplace skills and experience such as written skills, teamwork, project management, communication

Other Requirements

  • Self-starter who enjoys taking ownership of workload
  • Able to undertake some travel, as necessary for the role
  • A commitment to on-going personal development 
  • A willingness to work flexibly and where necessary outside of normal working hours
  • Suitable to work with young people and vulnerable adults in accordance with Government guidelines for safeguarding
