Key Responsibilities
Supporter Services
- Lead the development and delivery of the new supporter services function considering people (capability, capacity and culture), processes, tools and technologies needed to deliver outstanding customer service so new and existing supporters feel valued and connected to the ESU’s mission.
- Design and implement supporter recruitment, development and retention plans including welcome journeys and approaches for reactivating dormant supporters.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to create segmented messaging to highlight the impact and value of the ESU’s work to Alumni, Members and Volunteers in the UK.
- Oversee payment processes and supporter payment journeys on our CRM, Salesforce.
- Work with the Marketing team to design ad hoc impactful events in person and online to convene our global audience.
- Work with the Marketing team to promote our flagship events to our supporter audience to encourage attendance.
Volunteering
- Design and implement a volunteering strategy which includes automating the volunteer experience, recruiting new volunteers and promoting ESU volunteering opportunities to relevant organisations as well as current and future supporters
- Own the volunteer training programme, including reviewing and refreshing training and ensuring all volunteers are appropriately trained.
- Match volunteers to ESU competition heats and resolve queries escalated by the Supporter Engagement Coordinator.
- Form partnerships with relevant organisations to grow the ESU’s pool of volunteers.
- Work with the Education team to create a high quality volunteer experience
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- 5+ years experience working in a partnerships, supporter services, volunteering or account management role
- Demonstrable experience of having delivered successful services to a range of supporters/customers.
- Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering meaningful supporter journeys across multiple channels
- Demonstrable experience of growing and sustaining a pool of high quality volunteers through successful recruitment and development strategies
- Demonstrable experience of using a CRM (preferably Salesforce) to identify trends and drive improvements.
Desirable:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as marketing or communications
- An understanding of the nature and importance of the ESU’s charitable work and a strong commitment to increasing the reach of the organisation’s work.
- Experience of writing volunteer training programmes
- Experience working with international volunteers
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Experience of writing for different audiences.
- Line management experience
- Excellent data management skills and capability in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Mailchimp Survey Monkey.

About the role

Following the success and growth of the sporting and third-party mass participation portfolio (5% increase in income) over the past two years, we want to ensure we are set up to deliver the future growth ambition that will see Sporting Events income grow from £4m in 25/26, up to £8m in 2033, and are introducing this new role into the team. Sporting Events income at Alzheimer’s Research UK consists of third-party partnerships, Own Place in Event and challenge events, whilst bespoke/owned events sit within Sporting, they do not sit in this part of the team.
The Senior Sporting Manager will play a crucial role in the strategy, planning, delivery and development of all third-party and Own place in Event activity across the charity, leading a Sporting Events team of 10, with direct line management of two Sporting Events Managers.
Reporting into the Head of Sporting Events (HOSE) and working with the wider Supporter Led Fundraising department, this role will put the Alzheimer’s Research UK front of mind with supporters taking on mass fundraising third-party events, and with the third-party events companies themselves, making us charity of choice. The role will work closely with teams across the organisation, particularly the Regional Fundraising Team, Corporate Partnerships, Data, Digital and Marketing.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Support the Head of Sporting Events in the overarching third-party mass participation strategy to deliver ambitious growth between 2025 and 2033
· Lead on all day-to-day delivery of third-party sporting events (FY 25/26- £4.8m income stream): taking lead on Paris Marathon COTY and London Marathon COTY worth £2m
· Work with Head of Sporting Events to identify and pitch for opportunities, and maintain the sporting partnership pipeline
· Support Head of Sporting Events in driving efficiencies in ways of working, spotting opportunities, partnerships development, and sector networking
· Inspire and engage colleagues internally and ensure collaboration on any new opportunities, and cross-sell of campaigns and propositions where relevant e.g. TBH or Dementia Aware education
· Alongside the Insight team and fundraising portfolio team lead on all insight measures including impact and LTV

· Act as second in command for any internal ARUK projects that involve Sporting Events
· Lead on ensuring Project Embed Salesforce works for the Sporting Events team, and processes are logged etc.
· Support the SLF leadership in team in driving forward against F&M goals
· Inspire and engage colleagues internally, delivering internal communications to ensure that Sporting Events activity is alive, understood and actively developed.
What we are looking for:
· Demonstrable and relevant experience working at a senior level in mass participation and third-party sporting events and influencing senior leadership teams.
· Experience in managing budgets exceeding £2m
· Experience managing agencies and suppliers and ensuring all contractual requirements are delivered on time and budget.
· Experience in business development- pitching and working through a pipeline of opportunities
· Demonstrable experience in managing a team of mixed levels to achieve goals and maintain a happy culture
· Experience of analysing and monitoring data in a consumer/supporter environment and utilising outputs to advise and drive forward activity.
· Skills in producing evaluations, reporting on objectives and sharing insights.
· Demonstrable ability to work with a variety of different internal and external stakeholders at all levels
· Willingness to travel throughout the UK and to work event weekends including overnight stays when required
Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.
Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Overall purpose
The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. As well as managing relationships with our existing donors there will be a focus on creating new relationships through proactive prospecting and developing a long-term strategic approach to stewardship and relationship development.
You will be an ambitious, enthusiastic, energetic, and autonomous fundraiser with a demonstrable passion for supporting people from a refugee background. You will have a strong track record of high-value relationship management and fundraising, ideally specialising in Trusts, Statutory, Major Donor fundraising or a related area. We are looking for someone who can successfully secure and steward gifts of 5 figures and above – so evidence of stewarding high-value relationships and high-quality written skills are key. You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.
We welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills from other sectors and other areas of fundraising but a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of grant fundraising is essential. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Project Lead to manage and collaborate with an external development/implementation partner and coordinate the smooth adoption of Salesforce within the Charity. Job Purpose
This role sits within our crisis alternative service, Safe Space, which is a core and out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. Our aim of the service is to keep individuals well in the community and prevent readmission into hospital. The service operates 365 days a year from 14:00-22:00pm across all of our boroughs.

1. Brief job description
Role: Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 based on experience
Holiday allowance: 25 days per annum plus UK bank holidays

Hours of work: Core hours are between 10am and 4pm. You will work 7 hours per day (excluding a lunch break) 5 days per week. Start / end times can be flexible, so long as the core hours are worked (or a variation in agreement with your line manager)
Location: Save the Rhino International supports a hybrid work model. For this role, it is anticipated that you will work a minimum of three days a week from our office (Unit 3, Coach House Mews, 217 Long Lane, London, SE1 4PR). Further flexibility can be discussed with your line manager

3. About the Role
This is a brand-new role with the exciting opportunity to help shape and grow Save the Rhino International’s fundraising from high-net-worth individuals, charitable family trusts and foundations, and corporate partners who share our passion for conservation. As Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager, you will lead on building and managing relationships with both new and existing supporters, helping to secure significant funding to support our long-term goals.
You’ll be responsible for the full supporter and partner journey, from identifying and approaching new prospects, to developing tailored proposals, making personal asks, and delivering excellent stewardship. You’ll bring a collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and a flair for building lasting partnerships based on shared values and trust.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role, working closely with colleagues across fundraising and communications. It’s ideal for someone with a strong track record in philanthropy and partnership fundraising who’s ready to take the lead and make a real impact for rhinos in the wild.

4. Key Responsibilities

- Review and refine the philanthropy and partnerships objectives and targets within our 2025–2030 organisational strategy, annual workplans and budgets, with the aim of increasing five- and six-figure donations

- Prospect identification and pipeline development
- Identify new prospects across high-net-worth individuals, family trusts and foundations, and corporate trusts and foundations
- Maintain and develop a robust pipeline of prospects and funders, using data insights and forecasting to inform planning and prioritisation
- Conduct due diligence to ensure alignment with Save the Rhino’s values and ethical fundraising practices
- Relationship building, cultivation and stewardship
- Nurture long-term relationships with existing and prospective high net-worth individuals, charitable family trusts and foundations, corporate supporters, and Donor-Advised Funds
- Proactively build and leverage networks, including through Save the Rhino’s Patrons and Ambassadors programmes, to unlock new opportunities
- Assess and respond to new partnership enquiries (philanthropic or corporate), exploring alignment and developing tailored approaches
- Design and deliver effective stewardship plans for all high-value individuals, charitable family trusts and foundations, and corporates, ensuring timely acknowledgement, reporting, and ongoing engagement
- Collaborate with the communications and marketing team to create tailored materials and supporter journeys for corporate and philanthropic audiences, using automation where appropriate
- Strengthen relationships over time by providing personalised impact updates through reports, conversations, thank-you notes and other meaningful touchpoints

- Develop and present engaging, personalised funding proposals, applications and pitches for philanthropic and corporate audiences
- Manage grant processes related to high net-worth individuals, charitable family trusts and foundations and corporate partners, ensuring all funding requirements, deadlines and expectations are met
- Support the wider fundraising team in managing shared donor or partner relationships as needed
- Data management and compliance
- Ensure all supporter and partner activity is accurately recorded in the CRM and used effectively for relationship management
- Manage administrative tasks, including creating invoices, preparing contracts and memorandums of understanding, and tracking income and expenditure against the budget
- Uphold GDPR, data protection, and fundraising best practice across all philanthropy and corporate partnership activity, ensuring fundraising is ethical, inclusive and legally compliant
5. Person specification
Essential skills and experience
- Proven ability to design and implement fundraising strategies for high value donors, including developing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans
- Minimum 3 years’ fundraising experience with high net-worth individuals, family trusts and foundations and proven track record of securing and managing significant five and six figure donations
- Experience in developing stewardship and recognition strategies that deepen engagement and foster long-term support
- Knowledge of key sector regulations and guidance, including from the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, and Chartered Institute of Fundraising, with a strong understanding of GDPR and data protection
- Experience using CRM systems and fundraising databases, with an understanding of how to apply data mining and segmentation strategies to support donor engagement and income generation
- Experience of developing high-quality funding proposals and narrative and financial reports
- Very strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across geographies and cultures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex issues into compelling content that engages and inspires through storytelling
- Ability to work independently and accurately with attention to detail and meet deadlines as well as collaboratively as a part of cross-cutting teams across organisations
- Financial competence in budgeting, income and expenditure management
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience working within the conservation, wildlife, or environmental sector
- Experience managing partnerships, whether with corporates or other stakeholders, to deliver shared value and long-term impact
- Knowledge of international philanthropy trends and cross-border giving mechanisms
- Experience working with Donor-Advised Funds
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms commonly used in the nonprofit sector
- Understanding of corporate fundraising, CSR trends, or experience applying to corporate trusts and foundations
