About you and the role
The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained.
You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 20 employees and anticipate doubling in size within three years. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance.
You will support and mentor the Finance and Office Manager, ensuring that financial administration is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your role will also encompass ensuring that we operate within legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities:
- Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities
- Reviewing suitability of our current systems: Quickbooks for accountancy, Beacon CRM, PLEO for expenses management, Survey Monkey for data collection etc.
- Where necessary, identifying and implementing new software to ensure all systems and processes are robust, user friendly, deliver useful data analysis, integrate and/or improve automation
- Working closely with the Director of Transformations to translate the annual activity plan into an accurate organisational-level budget
- Advising the Chief Executive, team and Trustees, ensuring that benefits and risks of decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy
- Oversee sound financial management and governance across the organisation
- Provide leadership and guidance to all things finance related, providing mentoring and support to the team
- Accountability for monitoring that the organisation’s services are, and will, run to budget, supporting budget holders and reporting promptly on risks
- Have ultimate oversight of the external audit and production of the statutory accounts, supported in delivery of this by the Finance & Office Manager
- Oversee production of management accounts and bespoke financial reports, including accurate forecasting, incisive analysis and accessible narrative commentary

Skills & experience:
- You have interest and belief in our mission, to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools
- You have full or partial qualification through an accredited accountancy body
- You have some experience in a senior finance role (eg Director, Head of, Management Accountant) in any sector, and some experience within a finance function in the 3rd sector (in particular familiarity with the Charity SORP and experience of administering restricted funds)
- You have experience of audit
- You enjoy a mix of leadership and rolling up sleeves to get hands on when the need arises
- You take a pragmatic and dynamic approach to robust financial management
- You can turn complex and dry data, into clear and engaging narrative
- You have project managed the implementation of new systems (accountancy / CRM / data)

The key duties of the Director of Finance are as follows:
- Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team in developing HET's organisational strategy and plans, ensuring they are financially sustainable.
- Play a key role in the senior management team and attend and present at various Committee and Board meetings.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial data and supporting narrative including strategic plans, budgets, management accounts, and live forecasts, updated monthly or as required.

This is a hybrid role based in London, offering the potential to work from home up to three days per week. Main purpose of the post
We are seeking to appoint a Business Development Coordinator to join a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will enhance the institute’s business development activities by providing administrative and coordination support for business development, contracts, and risk management. Working closely with research groups, central services teams, and the senior management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that RUSI is well-placed to spot and respond to new funding opportunities and that our contracts are high-quality and executed efficiently.
This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and managing competing priorities and deadlines. Key tasks
Tracking, identifying, and sharing new funding opportunities:

Conduct research to identify potential funders and grant opportunities, populate and maintain a prospects tracker. Ensure we have an accurate and current map of relevant funders at all times to draw from.

Manage the Business Development email inbox, ensuring we are registered to all relevant portals and that we are regularly checking funder portals that do not send notifications. Share summaries of relevant opportunities with the BD Director along with suggested dissemination plan, agree next steps and follow up with appropriate Research Groups.

Support research colleagues to identify funders to invite to RUSI events and draft outreach emails.
Providing administrative and coordination support on bids, contracts, and new business activities:

Assist the Bids Manager with compiling information about RUSI as an organisation, its registrations, policies, organisational structure, banking and insurance details, financial information, and other generic details to be included in bid submissions and for due diligence.

Support the Bids Manager/Director of Research Business Development with administration and coordination of specific components on large bids.
Maintaining and improving business development processes and systems:

Ensure the business development team trackers (action log, new funding opportunities etc.) are accurate and up to date.

Work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts and Finance teams to finalise funder contracts and ensure that final copies are saved centrally, and key information is distributed to relevant teams. Ensure that relevant and accurate funder information is tracked by the finance system for ongoing analysis.

Review drafts of subcontractor agreements and work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts team to manage the process for preparing, securing approval, finalising, and sharing sub-contracts.

Act as central point of contact for the research funding pipeline, ensure it is functioning as needed and respond to ad hoc questions.

Manage the team’s Sharepoint page, ensuring that it is useful and relevant for research colleagues, with high-quality templates and guidance.

In coordination with colleagues on the Communications team, update RUSI’s customer relationship management (CRM) system with accurate, relevant and up-to-date funder information and develop and promote best practice for CRM usage for BD.

Update RUSI funders on the website annually, ensuring that they are accurate and that we have appropriate permissions to acknowledge them publicly.

Assist in preparing training materials and internal presentations, including by conducting data analysis.

Schedule regular catch ups with research groups, take and share notes in appropriate formats, update trackers.

Take accurate and useful minutes and share and follow up on action points after Business Development meetings.

Managing the institutional Risk Management process:

The International Organization for Migration in the United Kingdom (IOM UK) delivers a range of programming which includes the provision of immigration advice and casework support to vulnerable migrants to help them to regularise insecure immigration status and maintain their residency rights in the United Kingdom. Under the direct supervision of the Casework Supervisor and the overall guidance of the Project Manager, Senior Programme Coordinator and Chief of Mission of IOM London, the incumbent will provide specialist technical support to IOM’s Immigration Advice unit, will undertake specialist legal counselling, OISC regulated casework and representation. The incumbent will also support the Casework Supervisor and Project Manager in liaising with relevant stakeholders on matters related to policy, project development, implementation, and reporting, as well as participate in external forums and meetings. The caseworker will provide support to Local Authorities and third sector organisations, providing information and technical inputs, second tier support, as well as direct one-to-one casework support to vulnerable individuals to complete applications. About the role
Medact’s Movement Organiser will work alongside our Campaign Leads and Head of Movement Building to grow our movement, developing groups of healthcare workers into confident campaigners who can make a visible difference in the struggle for health justice and peace. You will be working as part of the West Sussex night team providing mobile support to our 24-hour services, ensuring that our transitional properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night. You will be based at the Horsham Y Centre and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures. You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations.
In addition, you will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.
This is a mobile role, requiring all applicants to have a full valid, UK Driving Licence. You will also be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.
