This is a London based hybrid role with flexible home working options.

The Role
Deliver the teams business plan and contribute to the achievement of strategic aims and priorities
Lead on raising income through account management of an appropriate portfolio of individuals
Manage three Philanthropy Officers, overseeing performance and development
Lead on building, updating and generating a portfolio of philanthropists and pipeline to raise philanthropy income

The Candidate
Working knowledge of the principles of high value / major gift / philanthropy fundraising
Extensive experience of personally securing five and six figure major gifts from individuals in a charity environment.
Experience of creating successful bespoke proposals or asks for philanthropists or other potential high value donors.
Experience leading and managing fundraising staff.

The Role 
 
As our Deputy Shop Manager you will be responsible for setting up our brand-new shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

You will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Play an active part in running our shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes. 

• Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters. 

 
About You

• To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.

• To have Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

• To have previous retail experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable.

New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.

Job Purpose:

To provide strategic oversight and operational management for Women in Prison services in Surrey. The role will focus on delivering Surrey Women’s CRS probation contract, which involves providing holistic one to one support and advocacy to women serving community orders, and will also focus on development of the Surrey programme.

1. Lead on the operational management and strategic oversight of the Surrey programme, ensuring high quality, trauma responsive services are delivered to women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with, the criminal justice system.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Management Team:

• As part of the Management Team to oversee the function of the organisation and its strategic development, especially in relation to SRS’s advice service

Service Development

• Be responsible for developing the advice service according to organisational needs and strategy

 Team Management:

• To line manage and develop a team of Advice Workers and Reception/Admin Officer, to ensure they are suitably trained and supported to deliver a high-quality advice service across the county
• To line manage the Employment and Training Coordinator to ensure the employment and training team delivers an effective and cohesive service, which complements the work of the advice team

 Management of Advice Service and Direct Service Provision:

• To ensure that the advice service promotes equality of access to all asylum seekers and refugees (clients) seeking advice and that they feel welcome and effectively supported
• To manage the advice team across the following areas:

1. To assess clients’ needs and propose actions to address these needs (e.g. writing letters or emails and/or making telephone calls) in a professional manner
2. To ensure that clients have access to advice about all aspects of living in the UK and to ensure they understand their rights and responsibilities under UK law

• To keep abreast of numbers of new arrivals of asylum seekers into Suffolk
• To facilitate clothing donations to those in most need, ensuring that stocks are maintained
• To ensure that clients in asylum accommodation across Suffolk can access our services
• To develop and oversee positive activities for asylum seekers, such as sports and music groups (in liaison with SRS's Operations Manager)

Immigration support lead

• To develop good relationships with immigration legal services and solicitors to ensure that clients can access the information they require and that clients understand the processes they are going through

 Vulnerable Client & Safeguarding Lead

• To be the support lead for very vulnerable clients or where there are cases with safeguarding concerns

Client representation

• To promote the views and experiences of SRS’s clients at external meetings and advisory boards, by participation in face to face and virtual meetings and in giving occasional presentations, using on-the-ground knowledge

Partnership working

• To develop and maintain good working relationships with external service providers and agencies, and to oversee joint working and services development

Monitoring, Evaluation and Donor Reporting

• To ensure services given and outcomes achieved are recorded on internal monitoring systems and that data protection regulations are adhered to
• To provide monthly summary reports for the Charity Manager and board of trustees
• To compile reports in reference to our funders’ outcomes and targets
• To help with the development & administration of written information produced by SRS for our clients’ benefit

We’re recruiting for an experienced Philanthropy Manager whose area of expertise securing multi-year, six-figure gifts from grant-making organisations; developing and managing a trusts and grants pipeline, including the application and reporting process, in order to build a reliable and sustainable income stream. The postholder will be responsible for all areas of trusts and grants fundraising, including writing compelling applications that solicit funding for Life’s vital work as well as reporting on our service delivery outcomes, maximising the opportunities for renewed funding. 

The Philanthropy Manager (Trusts, Grants and Foundations) will be responsible for delivering a strategic approach to trusts, grants and foundations; working with service delivery areas of the organisation as well as the finance department, in order to create compelling projects, with measurable outcomes that can be reported on. The postholder will be able to articulate these projects into cases for support within written applications, matching projects with appropriate funders and delivering a compelling ask. This role requires the development of a trusts, grants and foundations pipeline, from research through to reporting, ensuring a sustainable and maximised income stream.

• Ethiopia: Grade G - 35,000 - 48,000 USD + 672 USD annual travel allowance
• Rwanda: Grade G - 57,012,937 - 75,368,552 RWF + 18% basic pay in allowances

• Uganda: Grade G - 169,389,199 - 224,440,688 UGX with benefits

About the Team:
The WaterAid Management Accounting team provides country programmes and the regions with professional and technical finance leadership for WaterAid UK's international work.

The International Management Accountants act as a trusted business partner to each region they support. Being involved in strategic conversations and enabling decision making through insights and data analysis.

About the Role:
As an IMA you will support the regions, country programme leadership, and International Programmes Directorate, to deliver effective financial plans and ensure best practice in monitoring and evaluating performance is in place.

You will act as a trusted Business Partner of your stakeholders, providing analysis, robust challenge and strategic advice, to support the delivery of WaterAid's mission.
This will include helping to build the financial management capacity of stakeholders through developing and championing self service reporting and insights that support optimal and cohesive decision making on all levels of International Programmes Directorate: country, regional and director.

You'll also:

• Work with Country Senior Management Team to develop business plans for scale up/innovation/new activities for the country programme.
• Support the country programme to implement appropriate financial processes and procedures for sourcing and managing complex restricted funds
• Review and analyse country programme plan and budgets, requesting clarification where required, to provide support and advice to Country Senior Management Teams, Heads of Region and the Head of Management Accounting.
• Consolidate information from country programmes to produce financial analysis and narrative information for regional management accounts on a monthly basis.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the global finance function to ensure an integrated approach, mutual learning and effective use of resources.
• Collaborate with wider organisation and actively build relationships with others, including, programmes support functions, fundraising teams and other finance colleagues as well as a range of direct senior stakeholders

About You:
Technical Qualifications and Skills

• Degree level education
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
• Experience in the use of Sun, or a similar multi-dimensional accounting system.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
• Working knowledge of Business Intelligence tools
• Knowledge and experience of donor fund management
• Experience of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
• Ability to analyse financial data and provide narrative for range of audiences
• Experience of developing financial policies, processes and systems
• Management accounting expertise, experience and knowledge
• Finance Business Partnering experience of being a trusted partner to stakeholders

What’s in it for you

Working remotely – Like to work from home? No worries, our team is spread out all around the world. However, for this role we are seeking someone who lives in the UK and a commutable distance to London for team meet-ups, client meetings and attending events.

Flexible holiday policy – we believe in the importance of good mental health and family time. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Contributing to tackling the most pressing crises of our time – with a great team.
Part Time, 3 days per week or equivalent, to include either a Monday or Friday. Hours are flexible, as long as the majority is during the working day.
Basic Salary £40k-£42k pro rata (based on experience), plus commission.
