About the role
We are looking for an excellent and experienced relationship fundraiser, who excels at identifying and building inspiring and genuine connections with high net-worth individual donors, who have the capacity to give six- and seven- figure gifts.
This role requires a motivated, creative and confident individual, who thrives on getting out and about and meeting with supporters. The role will help shape the Business Development and Philanthropy Team’s plans to deliver outstanding donor engagement and stewardship so that our donors are inspired and proud to support us and enjoy their philanthropic giving experience. This role will make a vital contribution to delivering a step change in our philanthropic income growth to support Practical Action’s strategic ambition and mission.
About you
We are seeking a motivated, creative and confident individual, who thrives on getting out and about and meeting with supporters. You will have at least 5 years’ experience of securing gifts from high net-worth individuals making gifts privately or through family trusts, donor advised funds and corporations.
Accountabilities
Lead the process of identifying and cultivating individual donor prospects (UK and international) capable of giving six- and seven- figure gifts, fully understanding their funding preferences, criteria and fit with Practical Action.
Steward a portfolio of loyal and high-quality donors, giving five and six figure annual gifts and ensure our donors receive exceptional stewardship, feel valued for their support and become advocates of Practical Action to their friends, family and networks.
Work with autonomy and represent Practical Action at one-to-one meetings and networking events with high net-worth individuals.
Work with senior colleagues and the Board of Trustees to identify prospects, build relationships and secure gifts from high net-worth individuals.
Distil complex information and messaging into powerful, emotive and high-quality tailored communications (including pitches, cases for support, bespoke proposals and donor reports) that demonstrate impact and inspire giving by individual donors and family trusts.
Person Specification
To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Significant fundraising experience (5 years+) of securing gifts from high net-worth individuals making gifts privately, or through family trusts, donor advised funds and corporations.
Excellent knowledge about philanthropy sector developments, trends and key philanthropic organisations and networks in the UK and internationally.
A strong and proven track record of building new prospect pipelines and of managing a portfolio of donors, including demonstrable experience of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
An experienced and confident networker with a proven ability to build and maintain a diverse group of contacts, at all levels, both internally and externally, and represent Practical Action to inspire, secure commitment and support.
Knowledge of data protection principles, legal requirements, and ethical fundraising practice is essential.
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to summarise and distil complex issues in an inspiring way.
Ability and confidence to influence and manage successful internal relationships including writing reports and donor meeting briefings for senior colleagues.
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment, ensuring our donors receive excellent stewardship throughout their relationship with Practical Action.
Strong project management skills to lead approaches backed up by an appropriate level of research and analysis.
Enthusiasm and willingness to trial, learn and adapt — whether building on existing major giving experience or trialling new ideas and approaches to reach new donors audiences, for example next generation or diaspora giving.

About the Foundation
RNCSF (“SpringBoard”)’s vision is to provide access to a great education for young people facing some of the most complex and challenging circumstances. By harnessing the power of fully funded bursary placements and targeted outreach activities available in the UK’s state and independent boarding schools and independent day schools, we seek to transform individual young lives, and in turn we aim to create a sustained ‘ripple-effect’ of growing aspirations and achievements across under-served communities and marginalised groups.
Since 2012 we have supported more than 1,500 young people to access the life-transforming opportunities provided by fully funded bursary places, working with more than 200 participating boarding and independent schools united under the shared commitment to build more diverse, inclusive and representative school environments. We have ambitious plans to ensure that 2,000 young people are supported by our work by 2025, through extending our Department for Education sponsored work in independent day schools.
Our strategic aims
Our network of schools is at the heart of all that we do. We harness boarding and independent schools’ commitment to using their educational environments as an engine of social mobility, coordinating a sector-wide effort to target schools’ bursary and partnerships schemes for those who most need access to these opportunities.

Identifying children and young people facing complex and challenging home circumstances, for whom a fully funded bursary at an independent or state boarding school or an independent day school represents a life-transforming opportunity

To do so we have a fundraising strategy to secure c.£2 million p/a in donations, used to help to unlock schools’ own efforts to fund as many bursary places and partnership offerings as possible.
The return on the Foundation’s Capital Fund covers the costs of our small team of 14 individuals. We are ably supported in this endeavour by the involvement of our committed Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and an impressive and diverse body of dedicated and enthusiastic Trustees.
Purpose of the role
You will support the Head of SpringForward in managing a growing independent school- local authority partnership mentoring programme. This programme promotes partnerships between independent schools and Local Authorities that ensure that children in care can access opportunities for tailored mentoring by independent schoolteachers to help address some of their achievement and attainment gaps, and be supported to secure offers for a university or apprenticeship route on leaving school.
Key responsibilities
You will work with the Head of SpringForward to support successful management of day-to-day operations of the programme; including but not limited to:

onboarding and engagement of volunteer independent schoolteacher mentors;

liaising with school coordinators and overseeing overall school participation;

liaising with Local Authority partners and updating on pupil engagement;

supporting mentors in delivery of mentoring, quality assurance including monitoring of session reports, updating resources).
You will work with Head of SpringForward to review, implement and refine impact measurement, collecting survey data and feedback, review the outcomes and supporting continuous improvement of programme design and to communicate with new schools and LAs the programme’s benefits.
You will be held accountable for upholding the highest levels of safeguarding practice in implementation of the mentoring programme, including updating and maintaining safeguarding records for volunteers.
You will be responsible for writing reports on progress and outcomes for the charity’s senior leadership, trustees and the wider partnership community.
If seeking additional responsibilities/hours, this role could also include elements of wider communications support - including updating the charity’s website and social media content, collecting impact stories and sharing weekly content on school visits, donor engagement and key newsworthy items relevant to the work of RNCSF.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaising closely with the Orchestra Librarians on orchestrations and editions for repertoire being performed or recorded.
• Supervising the Concerts Coordinators and Assistant in the practical delivery of contracts, PPE letters, technical riders, dressing room and security lists, rehearsal venue bookings, flight and hotel lists etc. • Keeping abreast of all relevant agreements and updates from the Association of British Orchestras and Musicians’ Union concerning touring best practice and regulation.

You will play a central role in ensuring that the voices of local people, especially those most affected by health inequalities, are heard and acted upon.
As the Health Community Engagement Manager, you will lead the delivery of a wide-ranging engagement programme that connects health priorities with community insight and experience.
You will oversee ICB Community Panels, coordinate a small-grants scheme to fund VCFSE-led engagement, and support local organisations to evaluate and share their learning. Make-A-Wish UK is looking for a proactive and organised Individual Giving Officer to help deliver impactful fundraising campaigns that support our mission to grant life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of planning and delivering direct marketing or fundraising campaigns across a range of channels, such as face-to-face, telefundraising, direct mail, email and paid digital.
- Experience managing day-to-day campaign coordination tasks, including developing creative or data briefs, working with suppliers, tracking campaign schedules and reviewing copy or assets.
- Confidence working with external partners and suppliers, such as telefundraising and face-to-face agencies, printers, media buyers or creative agencies.
- Ability to work with internal teams such as data, digital and supporter care to ensure smooth delivery and strong supporter journeys.
- Understanding of the end-to-end campaign process, including briefing, delivery, analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of supporter stewardship and the principles of delivering a strong donor experience across multiple channels.
- Good working knowledge of campaign reporting, including response rates, CPA, ROI and retention metrics.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook, with confidence handling spreadsheets and basic campaign reporting.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements in fundraising, including GDPR, the Fundraising Code of Practice and Gambling Commission guidance.
Core Purpose
The Individual Giving Officer plays a key role in delivering Make-A-Wish UK’s Individual Giving and Legacy fundraising activity. Reporting to the Individual Giving Manager – Committed Giving, the post holder will lead on the development and day-to-day delivery of specific campaigns and projects across Regular Giving, Lottery and Payroll Giving. They will also provide support for activity across cash appeals, legacy and in-memory fundraising, working collaboratively with Senior Officers across the wider team.
The Individual Giving Officer will have responsibility for coordinating and delivering individual giving campaigns, managing day-to-day supplier and stakeholder relationships, supporting the development of supporter journeys, and contributing to income growth through effective campaign management. The post holder is expected to plan, deliver and evaluate their own campaigns with guidance and oversight from the Individual Giving Manager and Senior Officers where required.
We have secured a significant level of long-term investment from the Board to substantially grow the Individual Giving programme, drive sustainable income growth and grow our supporter base. This Officer role will play a vital role in supporting the successful delivery of this programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Campaign planning, delivery and evaluation
- Deliver planned Individual Giving activity across Regular Giving, Lottery and Payroll Giving products, coordinating the end-to-end delivery of assigned campaigns across multiple channels including face-to-face, telefundraising, direct mail, email and paid digital.
- Support the delivery of single gift, in memory and legacy activity under the guidance of the Senior Individual Giving Officer.
- Develop campaign briefs for creative, data, digital and telefundraising teams, ensuring clear objectives, timelines and deliverables.
- Liaise with agencies, printers, media buyers, the internal Telefundraising team, face-to-face fundraising partners, Supporter Care Team, and other suppliers to ensure high-quality and timely campaign delivery.
- Manage day-to-day campaign tasks, ensuring activity is delivered on time, within agreed budgets as set by the Manager and Lead, and adheres to brand and quality standards.
- Contribute to the development of new creative and messaging across channels, applying a test and learn approach to improve response and retention.
- Support the development of paid digital advertising, social and email activity to complement offline campaigns.
- Collate and analyse campaign performance results with the data team, producing wrap up reports, insights and recommendations for future optimisation.
- Maintain accurate and up to date campaign documentation including timelines, data briefs, costs and approvals.
Supporter journeys and stewardship
- Support the development and delivery of supporter journeys that welcome, thank, upgrade, retain and reactivate donors recruited via all channels, including face-to-face, telefundraising, digital and direct mail.
- Coordinate delivery of multi channel communications (email, SMS, print, social) aligned to key supporter touchpoints.
- Work with the Supporter Care and Digital and Tech teams to ensure consistent messaging and experience across channels.
- Maintain journey documentation and ensure updates are applied consistently across face-to-face, telefundraising and digital-led supporters.
- Contribute to the creation and review of fundraising scripts, digital content and creative materials used across channels.
Monitoring and reporting
- Monitor live campaign performance across all channels, including face-to-face and telefundraising volumes, digital engagement and direct mail response, reporting key metrics such as CPA, ROI and retention.
- Support the setup and maintenance of campaign tracking dashboards with the data team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement across channels, using data and insight to inform decisions and campaign optimisation.
- Assist with the implementation of testing across channels (e.g. creative, audience, channel mix) and ensure results are documented and shared.
Collaboration and communication
- Build strong relationships with internal teams including data, digital, supporter care, creative and finance to ensure joined up campaign delivery.
- Work closely with the internal telefundraising team to coordinate campaign activity, provide scripts and FAQs, and align messaging and supporter journeys.
- Support ongoing communication with face-to-face agencies and other suppliers, ensuring clarity on deliverables and performance expectations.
- Participate in campaign meetings, supplier reviews and debriefs, sharing performance insights and key learnings.
- Provide timely updates to the Individual Giving Manager on campaign progress, risks and opportunities across all channels.
Compliance and quality assurance
- Ensure all campaign activity complies with relevant regulation and best practice, including the Fundraising Code of Practice, Gambling Commission and GDPR.
- Support quality monitoring across all channels, including face-to-face and telefundraising (e.g. mystery shopping, call listening, script reviews) as well as proofing of direct mail, digital and email materials.
- Coordinate internal review and approval processes for multi channel creative and supplier materials.
- Monitor supporter feedback, complaints or queries from any channel, working with the Supporter Care team to resolve them appropriately and capture insights for future planning.

About the opportunity
This role plays a key part in supporting the wider Action Tutoring team with HR and Safeguarding matters and sits within the Finance, HR and Operations Department, reporting to the Head of People and Culture.

Duties and responsibilities
Safer recruitment for staff and volunteer tutors
- Responsible for ensuring staff and volunteer tutor safer recruitment records and related checks are up date and complete.
- Collecting references and ensuring they meet our standard requirements.
- Conducting ID calls for volunteer tutor DBS checks.
- Processing DBS checks and DBS update service checks.
Safeguarding
- Undertaking an initial triage of safeguarding concerns and incidents raised by members of the team and referring to senior staff as necessary.
- Maintaining and overseeing the tutor safeguarding refresher training using a dashboard
- Compiling safeguarding data into termly reports for the team and board.
HR
- Supporting the Head of People and Culture with recruitment processes. This will include preparing paperwork relating to the selection process and offers of employment and following up with applicants and the hiring manager to ensure both sides have a quality hiring experience.
