About the role

University Access Officers are responsible for delivering The Access Project’s high impact mentoring programme to students across our partner schools. This role works with a caseload of students supporting them from the start of Year 10 up to the end of Year 13 to understand the pathway to a top university. 

The role also involves project coordination, working with our schools, volunteers and teams across The Access Project to ensure our young people are fully supported and have the best possible chance of achieving social mobility and enhancing their future prospects.

This role is for a University Access Officer to work across our two schools in Cumbria, The Whitehaven Academy and Workington Academy. Our schools are shown on a map on our website. 

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with young people mentoring a caseload of students in a professional and safe manner.
• Deliver our University Readiness programme through in-depth, targeted 1:1 mentoring sessions with Year 10 to Year 13 students.
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications.
• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme.
• Match students with volunteer tutors.
• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
• Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme.
• Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems.
• Lead on quality assurance of tuition pairings/grouping completing a caseload of drop ins.  
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided).
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme.
• Direct enrolled students to appropriate wider enrichment opportunities, encouraging both extra and super-curricular participation and reflection.
• Work with Enrichment & Events team and partner schools to deliver school trips to universities, including trip logistics and leading groups of young people on trip days.
• Lead on all student facing comms.
• Send regular summary updates to school as their key point of contact.
• Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
• Any other responsibilities reasonably deemed necessary by The Access Project’s Programme Managers or Director.

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support and supervision from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from Senior University Access Officers and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. Role Overview

Grant & Bid Writing (50%) 

• Research and identify suitable funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies.

WHA is an international NGO, representing over 400 civil society and patient organisation members in over 120 countries. We are committed to eliminating viral hepatitis, a devastating disease that affects more than 300 million people and is now the second most deadly infectious disease in the world.

We are seeking an experienced project manager to lead WHA’s delivery of the SAFEStart+ project. Focused on accelerating the elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EVT) of HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and Chagas disease in endemic areas. The project will focus on demand generation, adoption and scale-up of innovative EVT programmes through strong community and stakeholder leadership. It will do this in part, through understanding the values and preferences of stakeholders, addressing barriers around awareness and stigma and discrimination, providing training to both community groups and health care workers and undertaking community led monitoring. These community led-activities will run alongside work in countries to strengthen health systems and supply chains and address gaps in product access.

The duties and key responsibilities of the Community Implementation Manager include:

• Plan and coordinate WHA activities related to the project to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time and funding parameters.
• Manage community implementation partners within project countries, working closely with them to develop advocacy and awareness strategies, implement community-based research , monitor budgets in line with approved policies and measure impact.
• Support the coordination of global and country community advisory boards.
• Be the main point of contact for all project partners, fostering positive working relationships to ensure effective coordination throughout the projects’ lifecycle.

What the job involves

We’re seeking a Website Content Officer to join our Integrated Marketing and Media team. In this role, you’ll take the lead in managing and improving the content on our website, making sure it’s clear, accessible and meets the needs of our diverse audience.

Acting as the ‘voice of the user’, you’ll be responsible for publishing updates via our content management system (CMS), maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and accessibility across the site. You’ll oversee key areas, including the homepage, keeping information accurate, up to date, and easy to navigate.

You’ll work closely with teams across the Prostate Cancer UK to help shape their messages for the web, offering advice, guidance, and training where needed. Day to day, you’ll manage content schedules, review pages to identify improvements, and create or edit content to keep the site fresh and effective. You’ll also use digital analytics tools to monitor performance and suggest ways we can enhance the user experience.

As part of the Digital Marketing and Channels team, you’ll work closely with our email and social media teams to ensure our owned channels are aligned. You’ll lead on the delivery of our regular ‘News and Views’ articles in conjunction with our Strategic Communications team, and you’ll work closely with our Web Operations team to help identify and test new website features and fix technical issues.

Please note internally this role is known as Digital Channels Officer – Web.

We’re looking for someone with solid experience in writing, editing, and proofreading web content to serve a specific audience. You'll be skilled in using content management systems (ideally Umbraco) to build and update web pages.

You’ll have the technical skills to author and edit basic HTML, as well as prepare and edit images for the web. A good understanding of interpreting website analytics, including experience with Google Analytics and search engine optimisation techniques, is essential. You’ll be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex analytics and technical details clearly and accessibly to colleagues who may not have a technical background.

In this role, you’ll need to manage priorities effectively and work well under tight deadlines. You’ll be confident negotiating and handling challenging conversations when necessary.  Staying up to date with current web tools and digital content trends will be a real advantage as we continually improve our site.

The Purpose of the Role

The ideal candidate is a technical leader and expert in the corporate consumer goods sector – such as retail, travel, food products, etc. They will have demonstrated experience building 7-figure corporate partnerships in support of humanitarian and development work, and a robust network of funders, experts, and decision-makers in the consumer goods and other corporate sectors. In addition to supervising and mentoring a team of consumer goods sector fundraisers, the Associate Director will have a dedicated portfolio of partners, focusing on sustained revenue generation and humanitarian impact. Finally, they will demonstrate passion for the IRC's mission, nuanced understanding of private sector fundraising, and dedication to the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion values.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•  Work with the Senior Director, Global Corporate Partnerships to develop and deliver a robust strategy for the consumer goods sector, identifying and initiating strategies for the consumer goods through a variety of partnership models.
• Cultivate a $2-3M+ USD portfolio of partners with a focus on sustainable funding, diversified funding streams, growing unrestricted funds and expanding influence.
• Lead on developing a series of high profile, creative, and impactful partnerships with consumer goods companies to serve our clients across the world, while offering companies innovative outlets to deploy philanthropic and core-business solutions supporting our humanitarian agenda;
• Design and implement creative outreach, solicitation, and management strategies for partners within the portfolio, such as pitches, proposal submissions, and partnership discussions;
• Provide best in class People Management to support and develop line reports and role model IRC leadership and IRC DEI principles.
• Serve as an internal, and when appropriate, external focal point for the IRC as related to the consumer goods sector

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications

Work Experience:

•  Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
• Technical expertise and experience working in the consumer goods industry and community
• Strong experience of front-line corporate fundraising and/or partnership development experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Experience leading 1-2 full time team, preferably fundraising

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

•  Management or solicitation of partnerships valued at or above $1,000,000 USD per year.

We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.

We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We also might ask you to meet in-person with members of your team from time to time, or to be available for face-to-face meetings with clients and partners where this enhances the work.

The successful candidate must have:

• Proven experience of managing marketing teams/projects and/or managing brands, working across a range of projects for multiple audience groups.
• Experience of running marketing campaigns and/or developing content geared towards the British Muslim community.
• Experience in leading audience research projects and translating insights into actionable marketing strategies.
• Significant experience in audience segmentation strategies and personalisation to maximise on marketing performance.
• Experienced in interpreting data to make marketing decisions.
• Hands-on experience of using project management tools such as Asana.
• Experienced in relationship and stakeholder management.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships, communicate effectively and influence a wide range of individuals both internally and externally.
• Significant experience of managing and motivating agencies to drive maximum value from relationships.
• Understanding of charity sector marketing.

• Proven track record of leading and scaling high-value fundraising programmes (philanthropy, legacies, and/or trusts & foundations), ideally within a complex or global organisation.
• Demonstrable success in delivering sustainable, multi-million-pound income growth through relationship fundraising.
• Experience of managing and coaching high-performing teams, with the ability to embed accountability, ownership, and development at all levels.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills, capable of delivering results in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment.
