Senior Analyst Jobs

The Finance Systems Analyst is a newly created role which will have responsibility for the efficient running and maintenance of ClientEarth’s finance systems, including Access Focal Point- which has been in use for over five years and Workday Adaptive Planning, a new system for the organisation. This role is required due to the rapid growth of ClientEarth and investment in new systems. You will provide essential support for current finance processes, suggest improvements to those processes to maximise their value and provide input into systems strategy for the finance department into the future.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Catherine Adams. A finance professional for thirty four years, Catherine has had a career of two halves, first in the corporate sector working for BDO Binder Hamlyn,  Boots UK, Waterstones and Tesco and then in the Charity sector, gaining an MSC in Charity finance from Bayes Business school, working for MSI Reproductive Choices and joining ClientEarth in 2021. As Head of Finance, Planning and Analysis, Catherine manages a team of ten business partners supporting the programme and core staff in their vital mission to use the power of the Law to bring about systematic change to protect the earth. 

Main Duties 

Systems improvement and efficency

• • Supporting the Head of FP&A with the Workday Adaptive modelling and build to enable value added performance review and reporting in line with organisational strategy.

Systems Administration

• • Administrator for Workday Adaptive and Focal Point to include maintenance and regular review of users, user profiles, password management.

Role requirements

• An accounting qualification – part or full or qualified by experience
• Previous experience working in a finance team, able to demonstrate an understanding of financial processes (essential)
• Experience with Access Focal Point and Workday Adaptive or similar finance systems (essential)
• Experience working with and reporting from large databases and an understanding of data structures (essential)

The Performance Analyst plays a key role at Look Ahead, by producing reporting and data analysis which enables the organisation to deliver on its strategic plan of improving the service we deliver to our customers.
You will produce management information from a range of systems using reporting tools such as Business Objects, Excel and SSRS within an Office 365 environment. You will develop Power BI dashboards to visualise data from our data warehouse and other sources. We are developing a self-service reporting culture, and you will provide advice and support to staff throughout the organisation on the tools available.

Conduct high level analysis and interpretation of management information for a variety of audiences.
Develop reports and visualisations from our data warehouses using BI tools (Power BI, Business Objects, SSRS) to enable self- service reporting across the business.
Produce performance reports for senior managers and Board members to ensure they understand how Look Ahead is performing against its priorities.
Work with managers throughout the organisation to understand their business priorities and to ensure that they have effective information management systems in place to deliver these.

Promote the importance of good data quality including developing DQ exception reporting and conducting audits of KPI data.

You will be a qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and operational experience. What will I be doing?

• Management of CRUK's Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) accreditation and all associated policies, processes, risk assessment and staff training required for its maintenance

• Developing and implementing processes captured within documentation across the Cancer Intelligence Team, including the delivery of training to and assessment of staff to ensure high level and consistent knowledge of processes for handling sensitive/confidential health data

• Writing, updating and/or collating all relevant documentation required for successful submission of officially recognised data security accreditations

• Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies, including the maintenance of a data asset risk register

• Providing technical support for applications to acquire data for the Cancer Intelligence team (including both regular updates of official statistics, and bespoke extracts of patient and other data that may require Research Ethics approval or equivalent), ensuring these applications meet the requirements of our data suppliers

• Leading on logistical aspects of acquiring data, including tracking requests, and anticipating and resolving potential delays

• Identifying potential and actual system bottlenecks; and assisting the Data Liaison Manager to bring about improvements in access to patient data

• Providing regular management information about data acquisition processes for the Data Liaison Manager and Head of Cancer Intelligence

• Responsible for ensuring that data are transferred, stored and accessed as prescribed in Cancer Intelligence Information Security Management System policies.

This key role presents an excellent opportunity to see projects through from conception to completion and to play a part in shaping how we work and what we do.  You will have responsibility for day-to-day operation of UCISA, including technical Infrastructure and systems used to deliver UCISA’s services to our members.  You will deputise on operational matters for the CEO and represent and advocate for UCISA alongside other management team colleagues.

You will be reporting directly to and working closely with UCISA’s CEO and have opportunities to develop your own skills in running an organisation in an innovative and agile way.  Ultimately, you’ll ensure our operations run smoothly and that people are productive.

The role sits within the Management Team and the post holder will deputise for the CEO alongside management colleagues.

Summary of key Terms and Conditions

Contract: Permanent Full time, Oxford based, hybrid

Hours per week: 37.5, Monday-Friday with some flexibility to support UCISA events and participate in team days

Salary: £55,000-£65,000 per year (depending on candidate experience and skill set)

Leave: 30 days annual leave & 8 Bank Holidays

Pension: Defined Contribution scheme (6.7% employer contribution, voluntary employee contribution 0-6.7%)

Reporting to: CEO
