JOB SUMMARY:

The Programme Manager is a key role in the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s isle of Ireland team. This post is responsible for managing our SEUPB funded PEACE Academy programme supporting young people in Belfast and Sligo.

The aim of this new three-year programme, is to deliver and evidence a PEACE Academy pathway of engagement, learning, social action and employability that will inspire young people from communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland to create shared experiences and build a long-term response to sectarianism, racism and hate on a cross community and cross border basis.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will:

§  Establish and develop our new PEACE Academy Programme in partnership with Glentoran FC and Sligo Rovers FC together with a network of grass-root partners, as well as community policing and other strategic stakeholders.

§  Line manage a new programme staff team including 2x Regional Coordinators, a part time Training Lead, part time Monitoring Officer, a part time Admin Officer and a part time Finance Officer as well as sessional staff.

§  Lead and manage a three-year cross border and cross community youth and community development programme engaging Catholic / Nationalist / Republican (CNR), Protestant/ Unionist/ Loyalist (PUL), and newcomer communities.

§  Oversee the development of sessions which utilise youth culture as a platform for personal development, working with your staff team to design, deliver and manage engaging sessions and opportunities utilising music and the creative arts, sport, and digital media.

§  Develop, and oversee the delivery of our youth development pathway across both regions, including twice weekly sessions, workshops, seminars and accredited training pathways, mentoring, cross-border events and initiatives, careers events and pathways with a range of commercial partners, and strategic stakeholder engagement.

§  Quality assure the delivery of sessions and outputs linked to the personal development of young people. 

§  Encourage and support the involvement of volunteers from the local community.

§  Develop positive relationships with key strategic partners involved in the project and ensure links are made and information shared with appropriate agencies.

§  Work closely with our CEO and Director for Ireland & Northern Ireland on the strategic positioning and development of the Foundation and the legacy of the PEACE Academy programme.

§  Work with our Director of Operations to establish and implement a robust monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for the programme with key data capture tools in place from the outset.

§  Be responsible for the delivery of specified targets for the programme through producing regular action plans and work programmes, ensuring that all project planning, monitoring, and evaluation procedures are implemented and adhered to.

§  Ensure all monitoring data is captured and recorded against targets ensuring funder reports are produced and meetings attended as and when required.

§  Ensure all administrative and financial functions of the programme are conducted in accordance with funder requirements

§  Work with our Directors on the financial and wider reporting of the programme as required by our funder.

§  Work with an external monitoring agency to ensure their independent impact evaluation is completed alongside our own internal monitoring.

§  Work with our Director of Development on shaping and implementing a communications strategy for the PEACE Academy.

§  Keep up to date with local and regional trends in sports/arts for social change and work with young people.

§  Actively represent Rio Ferdinand Foundation at working groups, initiatives, and events.

§  Assist and contribute to the on-going development and strategy of the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s work in Sligo and Belfast as well as across the island of Ireland.

§  Develop and maintain key relationships with partners from across various sectors including, statutory, private, business and third sectors.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

· Work flexibly where appropriate on evening, weekends and during school holidays to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme.

· Undertake new training to develop work related skills and knowledge

· Undertake any other related responsibilities commensurate with the evolving objectives of the post and the evolution of the Foundation, as may reasonably be requested

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

§  Relevant academic/industry qualifications: e.g. Project Management, Youth Work, Certificate in Community Sports Work (CCSW), Arts Practitioner,  etc.

§  Ideally educated to degree standard or equivalent through experience

§  An appropriate qualification relevant to working with young people

§  Sports, Arts or Digital Media qualification (desirable)

Experience

§  Have at least five years’ experience of working with disaffected young people

§  Have at least three years’ experience of supervising and managing staff

§  A proven track record of forming productive relationships with a wide variety of organisations and individuals from diverse backgrounds and multi-agency co-ordination

§  Planning, delivering, and managing community focused, social inclusion initiatives, ideally working with local authorities, police, sports clubs and youth justice groups

§  Experience of a wide range of communication media and confident in delivering presentations, developing proposals, and writing reports for varied audiences

§  Experience of working on a multi-partner project

§  A good understanding of community engagement projects

§  Experience of campaigns, youth social action programming and event management

§  Experience of managing an SEUPB Programme or similar (desirable)

Knowledge

§  A thorough understanding of government policies and plans for community sport and creative arts, along with relevant opportunities for young people’s development

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Work with managers to refine job descriptions, post roles, and advertise vacancies effectively.

• Manage the Recruitment inbox, responding promptly and professionally to candidate queries.

• Oversee the Applied platform to facilitate end-to-end recruitment, including application tracking, interview scheduling, and assessment centre coordination.

• Provide comprehensive administrative assistance during onboarding, including preparing offer letters and contracts, conducting reference checks, and creating induction schedules.

• Coordinate equipment setup (e.g. laptops, phones) and access to key systems such as Appogee for new starters.

Offboarding

• Assist managers and employees through the offboarding process to ensure a smooth transition.

Operations & Systems Management

• Maintain and update employee data.

• Act as the first point of contact for general People & Culture queries, providing consistent and helpful support to all colleagues.

• Ensure employee records are accurately maintained and GDPR compliant.

• Produce HR-related reports covering recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee engagement metrics (with guidance from senior colleagues).

• Work closely with the Senior People & Culture Manager to review and improve internal HR processes, aligning them with organisational goals.

About the Role

The Assistant Reserves Officer is one of our team managing and developing the Trust’s nature reserves for people and wildlife.  Your work place includes internationally recognised wetlands and woodlands along with nationally important meadows, chalk grasslands and heathland across Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

You will need to have strong experience in practical habitat management, including the use of power tools and machinery, such as chainsaws, brush cutters and BCS mowers. You will have experience of working within a dynamic team and leading volunteers. You will need to have a keen interest in wildlife and preferably a knowledge of the habitats in our area.

No two days are the same as an ARO at HMWT; you will get the opportunity to utilise and develop your practical habitat management skills across our nature reserves including tree felling, coppicing, scrub clearance, hay cutting and pond/ditch management. You will also undertake the maintenance of site infrastructure; assist with the management of livestock; and perform surveying and monitoring of habitat/species, tree safety and infrastructure. These tasks will be delivered working closely with members of the nature reserves team; our volunteer wardens and our practical conservation volunteers.

Willingness to travel throughout our work area and flexibility to work occasional irregular hours is required for this post.

Main Responsibilities:

Leadership

1. As a member of the Operational Leadership Team and wider Senior Leadership Team, work collaboratively and take collective responsibility for the strategic management and leadership of the organisation.

2. Work closely with the CEO, Treasurer and Board of Trustees to facilitate good governance and risk management.

3. Manage, maintain and develop all financial systems and control; increasing their impact and quality, and implementing best practices in financial management.

4. To supervise finance assistants and ensure that they are adhering to financial code of practices.

Financial Management

1. Lead and manage all aspects of the financial cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset management, reserves & designated fund management and financial reporting.

2. Work with HR & Payroll Officer to manage and retain oversight of the day to day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger maintenance, including the reconciliation of petty cash, credit cards and all bank accounts on a monthly basis reviewing and approving payment runs and payroll.

3. Work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to prepare the annual budgets and forecasts.

4. Lead and manage the provision of regular budget monitoring and reports to budget holders.

5. Assist with the budget preparation for funding bids. Manage, monitor and keep track of any grants, funding or commissioned income, working with relevant managers to provide relevant financial information for inclusion in monitoring reports.

6. Lead and manage the provision of quarterly financial reports to the Board and advise them on financial issues as appropriate

7. Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to inform and support organisational management, development and decision[1]making, and funding applications across the organisation.

8. Work with the CEO to prepare medium term financial forecasts for the organisation to support strategic decision-making and delivery of strategic priorities.

9. Lead on the audit process and the preparation of year end accounts to trial balance including preparation of the audit file and the closing down of the accounts on our accounting management system to ensure that the organisation is compliant with legal requirements and good practice.

10. To work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and designated Trustees to advise, review and cost the annual pay award.

11. To provide back-up and holiday cover for the processing of monthly payroll.

Governance and compliance

1. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements (e.g. Companies House, HMRC and the Charity Commission).

2. Attend Trustee Board meetings to report on financial matters, including the identification and management of financial risk, and provide any relevant reports.

3. To support the Trustees, SLT and line managers in managing our finances carefully and within our financial means, through provision of advice, guidance, support and training.

About the team

The Executive Assistant (EA) to the Chief Executive at Impetus plays a vital role in providing high-level administrative and project management support to the Chief Executive and ensuring the smooth operating of the Senior Management Team (SMT). The EA acts as a key liaison between the Chief Executive and internal/external stakeholders, managing sensitive information and handling a wide range of administrative and executive support tasks.

Key responsibilities

Executive Support:

• Provide sophisticated calendar management for the Chief Executive.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all matters pertaining to the Chief Executive, including those of a highly confidential or critical nature.
• Prioritise and determine the appropriate course of action, referral, or response, exercising judgement to reflect the Chief Executive’s style and organisational policy.
