The Autism Centre of Excellence exists to improve access to high quality support and remove barriers and stigma for autistic people, but to do this we need to grow our funding.

We aim to raise £5 million over the next five years to increase our reach, impact and activities, whilst creating a sustainable and predictable income stream for the charity. To do this we need to systematically build a pipeline of donors and supporters, to build profile and new relationships. In the short term we need someone who can lead the development of a series of applications to trusts, foundations and other sources of funding to support our priority workstreams.

Main duties and Responsibilities

• Primary focus will be on managing and soliciting income from your own portfolio of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders, securing gifts of between £10,000 - £1,000,000 to successfully achieve the charity’s ambitious fundraising targets.
• Secondary focus will be on the planning and delivery of first-class Special Events and Major Donor fundraising.
• Create a robust prospect pipeline of effectively researched and qualified funders, ensuring a continued flow of prospects through the pipeline, taking a sales approach to lead generation and the assessment of the warmth and value donors.
• Deliver effective research of prospective and existing donors, which enables us to raise significant income through both new and existing relationships; utilising our networks effectively.
• Implement effective cultivation and stewardship journeys that provides a high-quality supporter experience to your portfolio of donors and prospects.
• Deliver first-class relationship management to ensure excellent ongoing relationships with donors in both a written and face-to-face capacity.
• Deliver exceptional writing skills through proposal and bid writing and day-to-day communication with donors and colleagues.
• Fully understand the charity’s projects and activities to both ascertain their suitability as funding propositions and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders.
• Work closely with operational colleagues to develop compelling and thorough cases for support to inform our research and fundraising strategies.

Head of Finance and Operations

Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

Purpose

This is an exciting and vital role performing a range of finance and governance tasks, working within the Senior Leadership Team of a leading mental health charity focused on supporting children and young people.

The Head of Finance and Operations (HFO) will be responsible for the successful management of the charity finances and operations, as well as making a leading contribution to the  charity’s strategic direction.  The role is responsible to the CEO, and activity oversight spans finance, HR, IT, and office management. The HFO is also responsible to the Trustees for the financial state of the charity and as Company Secretary. As a result, the HFO must working closely with the treasurer, members of the finance and investment committee, as well as the senior leadership team and our existing finance and operation colleagues.

We are looking for an highly motivated, efficient, diligent and confident finance professional with experience of managing a team. The role is varied and would suit a qualified accountant with experience of working collaboratively and compassionately with a range of colleagues to achieve organisational objectives. There will be opportunities to increase knowledge and the successful candidate could be supported to undertake further study.

Key responsibilities and duties

Strategy, modelling and leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy supporting the organisation’s wider strategic plan.
• Provide guidance and leadership on short and long-term financial decisions.
• Develop and monitor the implementation of long-range financial plans with the CEO, Board of Trustees and the Finance and Investment committee, to support organisational sustainability and growth.
• Provide leadership (including line management of at least one member of staff) to our small but invaluable finance and operations team comprising our finance and operations manager, finance assistant, and our office and IT coordinator.

Financial and Operational Management

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s mission, vision and priorities.
• Streamline and optimise operational processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability while availing technological advancement. This includes systems, IT, CRM, Facilities and supplier management.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.
• Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Optimise and manage the Trust’s working capital and cash flow position.
• Maintain appropriate financial records and oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual reports and financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards, Charity Commission and company law requirements.
• Ensure necessary insurances and contracts are in place and provide required liability and other coverages.
• Develop and manage strong and effective relationships with external auditors, the bank, the treasurer, and other key partners.
• Hold responsibility for all tax matters and compliance with HMRC requirements.

Resources, Risk Management and Compliance

• Overall leadership and accountability for IT, Digital and Business Systems infrastructure, including appropriate data protection requirements.
• Oversight of property matters for the team office, including responsibility for lease, insurance and legal matters.
• Overall leadership for the development and implementation of the risk matrix framework.

RAFT Research Programme Consortium Chief Executive Officer (0.6FTE)

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

The LSHTM is searching for a CEO to help in the management of the ‘Resilience Against Future Threats’ (RAFT) Research Programme Consortium (RPC). RAFT is funded by FCDO, and its mission is research that will be of practical benefit to national programmes for the control of vector-borne diseases especially malaria. The Consortium partners are the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the Centre for Research into Infectious Disease Cameroon, the Institut Pierre Richet in Côte d'Ivoire, the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine of Mahidol University in Thailand, and the Malaria Consortium. One strand of our work concerns the arms race against insecticide resistance in African malaria vector mosquitoes, and in particular the process of choosing the most cost-effective insecticidal interventions in the face of complex geographic variation in resistance and a limited amount of epidemiological trial evidence. The other strand is addressing the more strategic and longer-term threats facing vector control, including the rise of Aedes-borne viruses in Africa, and the effects of anthropogenic changes in the environments in which we live.

We are looking for a CEO who will join the leadership team based in the LSHTM. This is a senior role with operational responsibility across all of RAFTs activities, including its research, its governance structures and workings as a partnership, its relationship with FCDO and the intended users of the knowledge outputs. You will work closely with RAFT’s two Principal Investigators/Research Directors and provide support to all other Principal Investigators/Directors from partners in the Consortium. The CEO will manage the relationship with the donor (UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO) and be the primary point of contact. You will provide strategic Management of RPC governance structures; and actively participate in RPC management meetings with Management Group and running of the Consortium Advisory Group (CAG). You will work closely with the Programme Manager to ensure best practice in budget management, financial probity, forecasting expenditure, and financial reporting to donors, Management Group and CAG.

The CEO will oversee and report on detailed progress against the agreed workplans and logframe, including on risks to programme success and make changes and recommendations as required. You will lead on Lead on active engagement with RAFT’s primary external stakeholders (i.e. the main intended users of its knowledge outputs), including National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) in countries with high burden of mosquito-borne disease, World Health Organisation (WHO), UK Government FCDO etc, so as to understand their research and technical priorities and to coordinate RAFT’s role and contribution. Finally, the CEO will also oversee the development and implementation of the RAFT Communications Strategy and together with the Research Uptake Manager, oversee all RPC communications, data management procedures and engagement of users and policymakers with the research outputs, representing the RPC in public debate and other media.

Candidates must have a higher education to degree level, or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience, experience of managing and reporting on programme grants from funders such as FCDO, EU etc, significant proven experience of financial planning and management including creating and monitoring budgets

The post is part-time 3 days per week, 0.6 FTE and fixed-term until 30 April 2026. The post is funded by the UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and is available immediately.

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 7 in the range £51,299 - £58,723 (SP 38-43) per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The senior public affairs and policy manager will help us to understand the key policy issues in health and healthcare and lead our influencing work, developing the RCP’s networks, particularly in parliament and government.

You will help manage and oversee a portfolio of high-profile work across a range of topics, proactively identifying opportunities for the RCP to influence the agenda and working with RCP fellows and members to shape and progress our campaigns. You will lead and manage our public affairs work, contributing your expertise to design and lead influencing strategies, campaign planning and policy development for a range of issues.

You will lead and manage the organisation’s stakeholder engagement to uphold our position as a leading health and care organisation. Central to that will be maintaining a network of contacts across the sector, in parliament, including political advisers, and the civil service. You will work with the president and senior officers to develop policy positions and advocate for them to external stakeholders within UK Government, Parliament and the wider health and care sector.

You will maintain a keen awareness of developments in the external landscape and make recommendations for how to evolve and progress our campaign messaging and policy positioning in response. Working closely with media colleagues, you will help to develop our voice with communications approaches that ensure high impact for our policy and campaigns work, including the Inequalities in Health Alliance. You will help us to analyse and interpret complex information to aid understanding and decision making and develop lines to take, draft public statements and media comments and brief senior officers and staff.

Purpose and scope

Key responsibilities

• Maintaining a keen awareness of issues within the health sector, politics and the media in order to advise senior officers and staff; identify opportunities for influencing and policy development; provide support and advice to RCP boards and committees; and inform other RCP activities as appropriate. 
• Working proactively to identify opportunities for parliamentary engagement, working with the media team to ensure relevant issues are highlighted to the media. 
• Developing proactive and reactive policy positions on high-profile issues relating to the RCP’s work as required, working in partnership with senior officers, RCP members, communications colleagues and other staff and organisations.   
• Building and owning relationships with sector stakeholders, Parliamentarians, their staff and civil servants, arms-length bodies and other organisations relevant to the RCP’s policy and campaigns aims.  
• Preparing senior officers and staff for stakeholder meetings, supporting them in those meetings and yourself representing the RCP at meetings and events. 
• Working flexibly and proactively without close supervision, undertaking a range of work such as writing briefings, letters, policy positions and consultation responses. 
• Working with the media team to develop our voice with communications approaches that ensure high impact for our influencing and campaigns work. 
• Supporting the RCP’s Inequalities in Health Alliance.  
• Managing an adviser and developing them to the best of their ability.

• have significant experience of developing and delivering successful influencing campaigns and having used a range of public affairs tactics, including media, to achieve policy change

• have excellent writing skills and experience of producing briefings, consultation responses and other communications on behalf of an organisation and senior people 
• have strong experience of giving advice to senior people, getting buy-in for your ideas and influencing opinion internally 
• have strong experience of successfully managing competing views, priorities and interests to achieve your aims.  
• be able to quickly develop positive and effective working relationships with a diverse range of people, including those at senior level
• have experience of successfully managing high profile issues, relationships and events

You will be the Fund's first point of contact for internal and external enquiries relating to the Welsh language and you will maintain an effective relationship with the Welsh Language Commissioners Office and with Welsh organisations. You will be part of the Fund's Communications Team and will work closely with our Translator to support our internal translation process.

The post holder will work independently to provide specialist leadership and support to teams within the UK to secure our provision of bilingual services.

The ability to speak and write in Welsh fluently and confidently is essential for this post.

Main responsibilities

• Provide a trauma informed and restorative practices involving the supported individual, devise, review and update developmental support plans, record events and observations and keep appropriate records as require in the service

DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose:To undertake a wide variety of tasks including delivering high quality support and personal development opportunities to young people in our supported accommodation. To flexibly respond to individual needs and assist individuals to have the maximum opportunities to direct the support in order to live as independent as possible.

Providing structured support in response to identified needs as documented in each young person’s developmental support plan and in a way that equips them with the confidence and skills towards living independently and sustainable.

Hours of work:  30 paid hrs per week (3 hrs unpaid lunch break)

You will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy, Senior Philanthropy Manager and the wider team to support the cultivation and stewardship of individual donors who fund a variety of activity at Serpentine – from exhibitions and our summer Pavilion programme, to live events and our Ecologies, Arts Technologies and Civic Engagement projects. We are seeking an experienced and successful fundraiser who has creative communication skills to join our team in the role of a Fundraising and Communications Manager.

This person will be responsible for the fundraising and communications function of the organisation, helping us to secure income via individual and community fundraising and charitable trusts and foundations as well as taking initiative to develop and grow into new areas of fundraising to help maintain and grow our services to survivors.

This post will also lead on internal and external communications and marketing to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including communities, donors, grant makers, supporters and professionals who feel as passionately about the need to support survivors of sexual assault and abuse as we do.
