Overview
Since our establishment in 2017 many funders, community members, professional partners – not to mention mums and minis - have bought in to our vision and seen our project grow to a staff team that hovers around the 15, and a turnover well above £500k. Our success means that we are now looking to recruit to a new and vital role of director of operations. This critical role will work alongside the CEO to make sure that our ideas and ambitions are matched by sure-footed implementation, safe structures, and workable policies.
You will ensure efficiency, compliance, clarity, reporting and calm in the running of our fast-moving, multi-faceted grassroots charity. You will be the unwavering back-stop behind the exciting innovation, and the busy front-line. Your organisational skills and operational expertise will create and maintain a structure which is safe, sustainable, efficient and transparent - while being agile enough to allow our volunteers and staff to pivot when necessary in order to meet the ever-evolving needs of our mums and minis.
This leadership role includes line management of project leads, staff and volunteer recruitment, reporting and budget management, HR responsibilities the development of policies and procedures, as well as occasionally deputising for the CEO
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Work within the charity’s mission, vision and values, and strategic plan to ensure and oversee the smooth running of all day to day activities of the charity.
- Work to create, maintain and deepen our culturally competent, anti-racist, decolonised, psychologically-safe environment for all mums and minis, staff, volunteers and visitors.

- Centre Management
- Provide strategic oversight and support for project leads in their delivery of projects and programmes at the centre, ensuring alignment with charity objectives.
- Provide line-management support to Play, Resources, Kitchen, Finance and Fundraising leads.

- Staff & Volunteer Recruitment
- Lead on all recruitment to attract skilled staff and committed volunteers.

- Work to create a ‘staff handbook’ and a ‘volunteer handbook’ to aid with onboarding and induction.
- HR Oversight
- Work with external HR support provider to oversee employment contracts, benefits, for all staff, and support and supervision for staff that you manage.
- Work with HR to review and create fair, compliant and benchmarked employment contracts for all staff.
- Oversee and record holiday, sick, maternity and bereavement leave in line with charity policies.
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws and best practice.
- Work with our Finance Director to ensure smooth running of payroll, SSP and other contractual arrangements that are compliant and transparent.

- Develop and implement policies to ensure clarity, fairness, compliance, consistency and efficiency.

- Financial & Resource Management
- Oversee and assist the Finance manager in creating annual and multi-year budgets,monthly management accounts, financial planning, resource allocation, reporting to funders and trustees to ensure transparency and sustainability throughout the charity.
- Implementing strategies to delegate budget-holding to project leads, and to ensure operational efficiency at all times.
- Facilities & IT Management
o Ensure smooth operations across physical assets and digital infrastructure.
o Oversee health and safety compliance within the charity’s building and off-site delivery.
o Manage external providers of HR, Salesforce and H&S functions.
o Liaise with co-tenants and freeholder as well on all building matters.
- Board Liaison
o Prepare for, attend and play a leadership role in quarterly Finance and Risk meetings as well as attending termly Board meetings

Skills & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in charity operations, non-profit management, early years setting, or a related field.
- Management qualification a bonus but not essential.

- Experience in line management of project leads, with a track record of strategic oversight and performance development.
- Ability to develop and implement policies and operational procedures effectively.

- You will unflinchingly interrogate our systems, policies and practices, while be extremely gentle with our people – creating psychological safety not only for all of our mums and minis, but also our staff and volunteers.
- Your attitude will be pragmatic and ‘can do’ as you carve a realistic path between confidence and caution when planning projects and delivery.
- You will understand that structure creates safety, but too much could be stifling – you will be emotionally and socially aware enough to walk this line.
- You will have experience of in line-managing project leads, with a track record of strategic oversight and performance development

Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the CEO, and - on occasion - the board of Trustees, working closely with Finance and Fundraising leads, Project managers, and external HR and H&S provider.

It’s an exciting time to take on this refreshed role as Digital Marketing Manager at Hospice UK. After significant investment in our digital infrastructure and an overhaul of our communications strategy in recent years, we’re looking for someone to take our digital offering and supporter engagement to the next level.
Line managing a team of two, and with shared oversight of the organisation’s brand, this role leads the delivery of key digital marketing products in the organisation, including our Dying Matters campaign. It’s an influential and visible role within the organisation, and has the great privilege of overseeing the telling of deeply moving human stories of grief and compassion at the end of life.
The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for creating a rich and varied online experience for Hospice UK’s supporters. Overseeing our digital marketing and content strategies, you will work with powerful personal stories of hospice care, loss and grief. Your goal is to use these to inspire our public audiences to get behind our mission to make sure end of life care is there for everyone who needs it.
You’ll be a key member of our External Affairs directorate, and you’ll manage our digital content and marketing team, leading the delivery of key campaign and marketing content and products. The team is currently made up of three people. You’ll have a sophisticated understanding of how to get our audiences’ attention through effective use of tools including Meta Business, Google search and email marketing.
We recognise that search engine optimisation (SEO) and user experience are both critical to achieving our business objectives. You’ll lead on planning content that is SEO-optimised to get us appearing in front of as many people as possible, and structured in a way that gives users a top-class online experience.
Our social media channels have undergone a transformation since our brand refresh in May 2024, and are now engaging our supporter base – and those new to hospice care – in a highly effective way. You’ll lead the team that plans and produces content for both our member and supporter-facing social channels, finding new and engaging ways to keep growing our social presence.
We’ve made great strides over the past 18 months in working much more effectively with our Income Generation directorate across appeals, organic social media and paid social marketing campaigns. You’ll be a key part of the continuation and development of our work here, sourcing stories and content that further develops our success in these spaces.
With a highly motivated Membership Engagement team in place to strengthen our position as a membership body with the UK’s 200+ hospices, you’ll collaborate with this team to identify opportunities to work with our members for things like photography and filming, social media, and other campaign-related content.
You’ll have a key input into the delivery of content for Hospice UK’s flagship campaigns including Dying Matters and Hospice Care Week. With shared responsibility for brand development and guardianship, the role has significant visibility across the organisation, requiring strong relationship, motivation and influencing skills.
This is a reshaped role which comes at an exciting and important time in Hospice UK’s digital evolution. We’ve significantly invested in our digital footprint and infrastructure in recent years, with a new website and CRM, and a recently completed digital fundraising and social media strategy review now ready for implementation. Purpose of the role:
The Junior Salesforce Administrator role supports the effective use and ongoing development of the Churchill Fellowship’s Salesforce CRM platform and related applications. Working closely with the Salesforce Team and other internal teams, you will ensure our data remains accurate and accessible, help to improve business processes, and provides user support and training across the organisation. You will play a key part in ensuring Salesforce functions as the single source of truth for organisational data.
Key responsibilities:
Salesforce Administration and Support:
- Support day-to-day Salesforce user needs, including responding to support tickets and troubleshooting.
- Maintain data quality through duplicate management, validation rules, and standardised field formatting.
- Assist with regular data cleaning activities and updates to system records.
- Help to prepare technical documentation and user guidance materials.
- Contribute to routine platform maintenance, upgrades, and third-party app integrations (e.g., FormAssembly, Conga).
- Support data reporting and dashboards to ensure teams can access reliable insights.

The Gender & Peacebuilding Adviser will work within Gender Team and Policy and Advocacy Team to deliver Saferworld’s gender, peace and security (GPS) and gender equality strategy with a focus on ensuring strong links between organisational programmes, research, comms and GPS advocacy at all levels. The Association operates a hybrid working model, with an office in central London for staff who wish to attend, and welcomes candidates from across the UK. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Community Engagement & Leadership

Lead the development and delivery of YBF’s community services strategy in line with organisational priorities and the needs of our members.

Drive forward inclusive and meaningful community engagement, ensuring services are informed by local voices, lived experience, and insight.

Strengthen YBF’s position as a key community convener and trusted partner across Barnet’s VCFSE and statutory sectors.
Membership Support & Capacity Building

Provide oversight and innovation in YBF’s membership offer, including training, networking, and 1-to-1 support.

Lead on developing and managing strategic partnerships that benefit the local community and YBF members.

Support member organisations in accessing funding, building resilience, and improving impact measurement.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact

Oversee the measurement of outcomes and the collection of community intelligence, aligning activity with YBF’s Theory of Change.

Ensure YBF’s community engagement activities are evidence-based, inclusive, and high-impact.

Prepare reports, case studies and recommendations to inform internal planning and external reporting.
Stakeholder & Partnership Development

Represent YBF at senior stakeholder forums, including local authority meetings, networks, and strategic collaborations.

Support the CEO in developing and delivering YBF’s stakeholder engagement plans in collaboration with internal teams.

Person Specification
Essential

Proven track record in community engagement and development within the voluntary sector, or related areas.

Significant experience of managing people and services within the charity, community or public sectors.

Excellent relationship-building and partnership development skills.

Experience using data, insight and impact measurement to inform service design and delivery.

Ability to represent an organisation confidently in external forums and high-level meetings.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Project, etc)
