We are looking for a Director of Income and Investment to lead all UKMSA’s income generation, and to ensure we steward and invest our income effectively. You’ll work in partnership with the CEO, Board and leadership team to ensure UKMSA has the financial resilience to provide practical and strategic support to Men’s Sheds across the UK, and in partnership with our colleagues in the international Shedding movement.
It’s about shaping the financial future of the UK Shedding movement. In the immediate term, you’ll lead efforts to address our income deficit, while also laying the foundations for a long-term, sustainable and diverse income model.
This role is about more than just fundraising though; it’s about realising the power of relationships, and funding, to transform communities and societies. Working alongside the CEO and SLT, and in partnership with the Board, the UKMSA team, volunteers, men’s health stakeholders, partners, and Shedders, you will make connections that strengthen the movement and make it truly sustainable. In a world that feels increasingly polarised and divided, Shedding provides an inspiring antidote. This is about individuals, but it’s also about strengthening the communities where those Shedders live and contribute.
You will lead on the development of new partnerships, unlock opportunities for Men’s Sheds, and champion a creative, values-led approach to income generation and financial stewardship.
The Director will also work proactively as part of a collective senior leadership team, working closely with the CEO, and sometimes deputising for her, offering continuity of leadership, maintaining momentum, and stepping into key internal and external forums when required. This includes leading in partnership with other senior staff and board members and representing UKMSA at high-level meetings and events. The Director is expected to make sound decisions in the best interests of UKMSA and lead others with clarity and purpose.

About Action for ME
Action for ME is the only charity in the UK providing support, including healthcare, to people of all ages affected by ME. The charity was founded by Sue Finlay in 1987 and since then has been taking holistic approach so we can make an impact on multiple fronts - from amplifying the voices of people affected by ME in Government and leading on breakthrough research, to providing "lifeline" support and unique healthcare services on a daily basis.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), sometimes referred to and diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is a chronic, fluctuating disease, causing symptoms such as post-exertional malaise (PEM), sleep problems, problems with thinking and memory (brain fog), pain and crushing fatigue. There are an estimated 1.3 million people living with ME or ME-like symptoms, including PEM, in the UK alone.
Even in its so-called mildest form, ME can have a significant impact on an individual’s life, and not just on their health. A lack of understanding and awareness about ME means patients can experience disbelief, and even discrimination, from friends, family, health and social care professionals, employers and teachers.
For the first time there is an increased awareness of post viral illness because of the Covid -19 pandemic. After decades of neglect this offers Action for ME an opportunity to accelerate our work for people with ME in a way we have never been able to do before. The intent of everything we do is to pursue positive impact for the lives, rights, and futures of people affected by ME.

- Play a key role in fundraising appeals and campaigns including our yearly Big Give Christmas Challenge, Summer Appeal, Thanking Campaign and any other fundraising initiative or project as directed by the Fundraising Operations Manager or Director of Fundraising.

Your focus will be on identifying, cultivating, and stewarding a portfolio of high-value donors, ranging from individuals to philanthropic foundations and corporate partners, who are motivated not only by charitable impact, but by the opportunity to contribute to systemic, sustainable change.
This role requires a strong strategic mindset and a deep understanding of the evolving philanthropic landscape, particularly the intersection of traditional giving with social investment, climate finance, and venture philanthropy. You will develop compelling propositions that speak to donors' desire for measurable impact, oversee donor journeys across multiple channels, and support collaborative partnership models, including co-financing and joint ventures, to grow The Resilient Futures Fund's reach and influence.
You'll also work to embed The Resilient Futures Fund into wider Christian Aid fundraising activity, building strong internal relationships and ensuring coherence across donor messaging, reporting, and engagement. This is an opportunity to help shape a next-generation funding model that reimagines what climate philanthropy can achieve.
About you
You are an experienced and strategic fundraiser with a passion for innovation and impact. You have a proven track record of securing significant philanthropic income, particularly from major donors, trusts, and foundations, and you understand how to translate complex programme goals into compelling cases for support that resonate with diverse funders.
You are intellectually curious and comfortable working at the intersection of philanthropy and social investment. You understand the motivations of donors who are looking for more than transactional giving, those seeking scalable, systemic, and lasting change. Whether it's a six-figure major gift or a multi-year partnership, you know how to craft tailored stewardship journeys that inspire trust and long-term commitment.
You bring strong project management skills and can balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day delivery. You are data-informed, impact-driven, and understand how to use evidence and insight to adapt and improve fundraising performance.
You thrive in collaborative environments, building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders alike. You are excited by the opportunity to contribute to a pioneering climate initiative that sits at the forefront of philanthropic and investment innovation, one that reflects your values and desire to create meaningful, measurable change in the world.

About Church Army
Church Army exists to ensure that those on the margins of society know and experience the transformative love of Jesus Christ.
We are an Anglican evangelistic mission agency and our founder’s aim was to reach those who felt no affinity with the church. Rather than expecting people to come into church buildings, he instead grew a community of evangelists who went wherever they were needed to share the message of Jesus in word and action.
With the same mission in mind, we have never stood still, always adapting to the changing needs around us. We now have a mission community of over 500, including over 200 active Commissioned Evangelists working across the UK and Ireland.
Under the leadership of a new CEO, Matt Barlow, Church Army is going through a period of considerable change which will shape the charity for generations to come.
About the role
The Director of Engagement (DoE) role has a pivotal role to play in the future of Church Army. Working closely with the CEO as part of the Senior Leadership Team, the DoE will lead the fundraising and communications strategy and provide oversight to the Engagement Team.
Given this period of change, the role needs someone with a good degree of agility, flexibility, and resilience. The right candidate will be more of a leader than a manager – but with the ability to do both – with an ability to operate in a faith based sector. Both humility and courage are essential characteristics.
We are seeking a strategic leader, with a track record of success in income generation, who can lead and develop a high-performing team and drive change through vital season.
How to Apply
Carnelian has been appointed by the Board to lead this search. Please get in touch if you would like to explore this role further.
Interviews with Carnelian will take place in September 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with Church Army in October 2025.
We want everyone everywhere to encounter God’s love and be empowered to transform their communities through faith shared in words and action.
