Job description

Key4Life is now in its seventh year and has grown substantially in that time. The role of the senior operations manager is a pivotal role in taking Key4Life to the next level. Central to the success of Key4Life through the senior operations manager, are enhancing, improving, and maintaining the systems, procedures, and controls, which enable the charity to operate at a high level with consistently good results. This role involves managing a committed and diverse team to ensure we help some of the most disadvantaged young people in Britain.

Duties and responsibilities:


  • To lead on the delivery of the Key4Life programmes (through our 7-step model) to the highest standards, and ensure we are compliant with all policies and procedures
  • Responsible for managing all funding contracts, monitoring deliverables, and writing grant reports
  • Maintain the minimum level of reoffending at 14%, and into employment 63%
  • To build firm relationships with delivery partners (both statutory and voluntary and community) and negotiate favourable service level agreements
  • Working directly with prisons, community partners, delivery partners, trainers, agencies, leading companies and prisons to ensure the Key4Life programme is properly organised and runs smoothly; through our at risk programme (6 months), prison programme (12 months), and programme for children 10-16 (3 months)
  • Ensuring all team members are set weekly objectives, and are closely monitored and appraised and provided with supervision and training where required
  • To ensure that all systems are being properly used by the team (online secure database, policies & procedures, reporting lines, and ensure team are compliant with current safeguarding legislation)
  • Ensuring relevant documentation is completed for all programmes (up to 10 programmes per year in London and the south west)
  • Oversee checklists and standard operating procedures are in place for all charitable activities
  • Ensure team are compliant with relevant safeguarding legislation and staff Handbook
  • Oversee all research and work closely with independent researcher, to ensure all reports are completed at the end of programme
  • Responsible for ensuring calendar is up to date with all key dates
  • To ensure all programmes are fully funded


  • Manage recruitment of new team members
  • Ensure team contracts and job descriptions are agreed
  • Ensure all new starters are taken through induction procedures and team are compliant with all policies and procedures
  • Ensure team objectives are updated by Managers and reviewed weekly
  • Carry out bi-annual appraisals
