Luminary Ltd provides training, employment and community to some of the most disadvantaged women in London. We use baking as a tool to guide women towards employability and independence. We work alongside women who have experienced gender-based violence and live with ‘multiple disadvantage’. Our primary focus is helping these women achieve employment and reach independence - breaking the cycle of poverty, violence and disadvantage.

Over our two-year programme, women learn to bake, gain a catering qualification and develop transferable skills such as budgeting, interview techniques and resilience.  Women gain valuable work experience through our sister organisation, Luminary Bakery, as well as being paired with a volunteer mentor who helps her develop her career next steps.

Luminary Bakery Ltd contributes to Luminary’s social impact by offering work experience placements, apprenticeships, and job opportunities for graduates of the charity’s training programmes. Luminary Bakery produces beautiful, artisanal baked goods and is working toward generating sustainable income to fund the charity.

The role
Luminary is entering an exciting phase in its development, transitioning from a small, founder-led start-up into a medium-sized charity. Over the past two years, we’ve experienced growth in our income, primarily through trusts and foundations. Building on this momentum, and with generous support from Comic Relief, we are now recruiting our first in-house fundraiser.

Five years + experience in fundraising contributing to strategy as well as delivery.

Demonstrated  success in fundraising  with a proven track record of securing significant income from trusts and foundations, and/or major donors and corporate partners.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling funding proposals, persuasive pitches and impactful reports.

About the Youth Endowment Fund

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives. One in 12 women will be a victim of violence against women and girls each year in England and Wales. Our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children showed that 33% of teenagers have encountered online content that encourages violence against women and girls.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

Violence against Young Women and Girls

At the heart of our work is getting clear on what works. We are looking for someone who can lead our research and change agenda on violence against young women and girls (VAWG). We have built the foundations of this work by:

• developing our understanding of experiences of violence through our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children;
• reviewing evidence on the effectiveness of interventions that aim to prevent relationship violence and violence affecting young women and girls, which is summarised in our Toolkit; and
• ensuring a strong focus on VAWG prevention in our Education Systems Guidance and Education Practice Guidance, based on the evidence we have for relationship violence prevention delivery in education settings.  

There is still a lot to do. We need to fund new research to fill gaps in our understanding of what works. We need to turn this evidence into actionable recommendations and sustainable change that will keep children safe from violence.

Key Responsibilities

The Violence against Young Women and Girls Lead will lead the VAWG research and change agenda for YEF. 

You will:

Be the YEF’s expert on VAWG

• Making sure we understand the key issues, stay on top of the latest research and are connected to the right people.

Lead YEF’s research agenda on VAWG

• Commissioning research that fills important gaps in knowledge and leads to important changes in policy and practice.

Develop evidence-based recommendations on the prevention of VAWG.

• Drawing on research and expert insight to produce recommendations for systems and practice guidance, across the seven essential sectors that we work with: children’s services, education, health, neighbourhoods, policing, youth services, and youth justice.
• Writing and publishing evidence briefings and recommendations for policy makers and system leaders about how to prevent VAWG.
• Working across YEF teams to ensure that YEF recommendations on VAWG are incorporated across our evidence and change products, including systems, sector and practice guidance, the Toolkit and implementation resources.

Develop and lead a change strategy.

• Developing great relationships with senior leaders, policymakers, commissioners, and key stakeholders connected to VAWG across England and Wales.
• Generating a strong understanding of key issues and needs across systems and sectors and building credibility and trust in YEF’s evidence products and recommendations.
• Creating practical tools and resources that help leaders put evidence into action.
• Developing, managing and tracking your change plan to get more senior leaders to be aware of and use our guidance, tools and resources, continuously looking for data-driven improvements.
• Delivering events and presentations to effectively connect people with the evidence.

Job Purpose:

To provide operational management of the Substance Misuse Through-the-Gate (SMTTG) programme, which supports Lambeth and Southwark women in custody and their transition back into the community. The Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the service is delivered to a high standard by line managing staff, developing strong partnerships with prisons and recovery services, and fostering a culture of quality, learning, and accountability.

The post holder will also hold a caseload, working directly with women in custody to support them into community services. They will provide robust Through-the-Gate (TTG) support on release and continue to work with women in the community for up to six months to ensure a smooth transition and sustainable recovery.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1. Lead the operational management of the Substance Misuse TTG programme, ensuring high-quality, trauma-responsive support for women impacted by the criminal justice system
2. Manage and develop staff to foster a strong, inclusive, and reflective team culture
3. Deliver direct support to women, ensuring a trauma-informed and person-centred approach
4. Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders in prisons and the community to strengthen partnerships and share expertise

OUTLINE OF THE ROLE

Work with the Trustees to devise and lead new fundraising initiatives that fulfil the objectives of the Trust's Fundraising Strategy and annual income budget, with particular focus on regular giving across all alumni, gifts from high-net-worth individuals, and legacies. This will involve:

• Developing and delivering improved communications to build a stronger connected donor network.

• Locating, engaging and retaining alumni to support and promote the Trust, focused on ensuring their long-term impact on the Trust and its beneficiaries.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to devise and implement new fundraising initiatives.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to identify and engage new volunteers to support the Trust's activities.

KEY TASKS

Work with the Trustees and Fundraising Committee to devise and implement the following:

• Improve communications

The Trust has a strong, growing, and engaged network of loyal alumni who already support the Trust's beneficiaries through fundraising and volunteering. However, the Trust's communications need to be improved in order to increase the numbers of donors who provide sustained financial support and inspire all donors to raise their level of donations. Continually find opportunities to engage new donors and ensure clear consistent messaging.

• Manage and maintain donor data

The Trust needs to maintain a full and accurate database of all donors and fundraising activities to support long-term tracking and inform future fundraising. This also requires networking among alumni and being vigilant to changes in alumni data.

• Research and approach alumni whose connection with the Trust has lapsed

Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

• Research untapped prospects

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

For instance, organizing fund-raising specific events in different regions. This position could evolve into a full-time commitment with a support team, but at the present time, support to this role will be provided through the existing network of volunteers.

Job Purpose

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for delivering professional customer service, work collaboratively across the organisation, and contribute to the success of the corporate plan. Financial accounting

• Oversee payments, purchase ordering, accounts payable, and ensure accurate recording of transactions in the general ledger.
• Lead the annual statutory audit, prepare statutory accounts, and coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage tax returns for Phoenix community Housing and subsidiaries (VAT, Corporation Tax) and ensure compliance.

Management Accounting

The Director of Finance and Resources is responsible for managing the charity’s finances efficiently and accurately, ensuring that all financial activities are carried out in compliance with statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements. Everyone associated with the Trust works remotely and has always done so. Our team, Board, volunteers and partners are UK-wide and so meetings and events are held regularly in London and across the country. You will report to the CEO and line manage the Finance Officer. About the role

As Head of Guidance, you will oversee the production, quality assurance and innovation of our clinical guidance and patient information resources. You will work closely with the Director of Clinical Quality, leading a small and dedicated team and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders including clinicians, patients, partner organisations and specialist societies.

About the Service

This service sits within our Complex Needs and Community Services and are informal drop-in group for Refugees and Asylum Seekers. The groups centre on improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of refugees and asylum seekers, providing these individuals with a safe space to connect with peers. To help these individuals engage with diverse creative activities and develop their confidence and self-esteem whilst helping them integrate into Hertfordshire and the UK.

Service Objectives

• To provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients with mental ill health.
• Support to build social networks and reduce isolation whilst settling into the Hertfordshire community this includes building a sustainable and empowering peer support network and building confidence and self-esteem.
• To ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• Embed a person centred and solution focused approach in all aspects of the role.
• To work in a trauma informed way including awareness of the 6 principles of trauma informed practice, putting the clients emotional and practical needs at the forefront of this work.

Key Responsibilities:

• The purpose of this post is to promote and facilitate our Flourish peer support groups.
• To play an integral role in instilling HMN’s values through the Flourish refugee and asylum seeker service.
• Promoting and facilitating the Flourish groups
• To work as a team.
• To play a key part in the development and delivery of quality of support services.
• Planning and preparing for each weekly session, establishing the session aims, materials required and anticipated outcomes for people attending.
• Ensuring refugees and asylum seekers feel safe and supported within the group.
• Ensuring diversity across weekly sessions for service-users. 
• Liaising with translators and booking them where required to meet the needs of the groups.

Field Studies Council Epping Forest is situated in the heart of Epping Forest, an area of around 2,400 hectares of wood-pasture stretching from Manor Park in East London to just north of Epping in Essex.

Two thirds of the Forest have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The Project Officer will join the US Death Penalty Project at Reprieve, working on Reprieve’s innovative Stop Lethal Injection Project operating at Reprieve’s Lethal Injection Information Center. Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, to cover parental leave. The annual salary is £42,193 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel and work outside of core office hours from time to time.
