The role

We are looking for someone who wants to start their career in marketing and is interested in learning more about CRMs, email marketing and measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. As part of the King’s Fund’s centralised Marketing function, you’ll be at the heart of giving colleagues and customers a consistent, joined-up experience and play a key role in our marketing strategy. You’ll deal with a spectrum of work, spanning everything from writing and creating compelling copy (for both online and offline marketing activity); diving into our CRM system, ensuring data accuracy and managing lists; to pulling together evaluation reports, analysing campaign performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights. With support from your manager and rest of the team, it’s a great role to build your expertise and gain valuable marketing experience. 

To join us, you’ll need a keen interest in marketing and a blend of creativity and precision to write clear and compelling copy for marketing materials including email campaigns. You will enjoy communicating with people, both in person and on paper. Attention to detail is important and you will be proficient in Microsoft products including Excel. Beyond this, you must be organised, flexible and as passionate about our work as we are.

The Fund is committed to a hybrid working model that meets the organisation’s needs, while giving staff flexibility to choose between office and home working. Most staff are expected to work a minimum of 40% from our central London office and are free to work more days from the office if they prefer. We are in the process of developing our long-term policy on this, although the expected minimum time in the office will remain 40% (pro rata).

Every year in the UK, around 100 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that mostly affects children under five. Neuroblastoma UK is a small national charity dedicated to finding a cure for this life-threatening disease - and is seeking a talented Senior Communications Officer to help us raise awareness and profile. 

For 40 years, we’ve funded leading research to develop new, more effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time for the charity as look to fund further research projects to help fight childhood cancer and save more young lives, and build our profile across the national media and social media channels, using the support of our celebrity patrons and families. 

The role

The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for press liaison, pitching in case studies and news stories about our research to the national press, building relationships with our celebrity patrons and families and creating content for our social media channels. A key part of the role is supporting the fundraising campaigns by helping to draft relevant copy for email campaigns and calls-to-action on social media. 

The charity has a small team, so everyone helps with thanking and banking, database management and administrative tasks. And this varied role gives plenty of scope to share creative ideas to develop our portfolio of community activities and challenge events, use your strong communication skills to support fundraisers and apply your excellent organisational skills to track impact and outcomes.

The role currently reports to a committed Board of Trustees, many of whom have a personal connection to the cause.

Responsibilities

• Developing and managing a communications strategy in support of key awareness raising events, fundraising campaigns, funded research, campaigning and family case studies.

• Writing, pitching and distributing press releases to the national media, building up relationships with key journalists.

• Working with the team to develop, maintain and deliver annual social media calendar     , developing engaging, impactful and relevant content, monitoring comments and engagements.

• Supporting the team in helping to produce email marketing copy for campaigns and in producing and maintaining content for the website.

• Monitoring research studies and progress so that results can be publicised in a timely way.

• Supporting delivery of a programme of events for the charity.

• Being the first port of call and liaison for media, families, supporters and potential supporters who get in touch with the charity via telephone, email and social media.

• Lead in all elements of the bidding process which includes writing competitive bids within strict deadlines.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this includes a track record of securing new bids and/or retaining existing contracts
• Previous experience in bid/proposal writing, reviewing, and editing
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, experience in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to travel and attend market engagement events and to visit services to gain greater understanding of what SIG offers and to inform teams of relevant tender responses
• Ability to create and write engaging content, with proofreading skills
• Proven ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral and ability to build relationships
• Ability to review large amounts of information and research materials to inform model development and shape tender responses
• Proficiency in navigating tender portals

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience managing the full bidding process end to end from pre market engagement and contract notification, through to award

About You: 

You will have experience of running effective national and regional campaigns using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. Supporting the Direct Marketing Manager in delivering growth in income through St John Ambulance’s direct marketing Retention programme via a range of campaigns. You will focus on supporting the Retention strategy which includes using data and insight to deliver across a variety of channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, telemarketing and SMS.

You will either be able to work in a hybrid way working between home and 2 days per week at our London office or remotely working from home with a requirement to attend our London office for a team anchor day once a month.

About You:

Having worked in a third sector direct marketing role previously, you will have experience running effective national and regional campaigns using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. With your good organisational and time management skills you’ll be able to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities under pressure. 

You will have knowledge of usability testing, user research methods and conversion rate optimisation as well as an understanding of fundraising regulator guidance, gambling commission compliance and GDPR. 

About The Role

• Manage the delivery of all Retention campaigns from concept through to evaluation, using data and insight to drive creative and production, drawing up schedules, and managing the approval processes
• Work collaboratively with data teams to ensure effective use of supporter profiling for delivery across a range of Retention campaigns
• Manage relationships with external agencies including media houses, designers and printers; to negotiate costs and relevant performance reviews
• Responsibility for collation of all KPI tracking, trend analysis and activity results that feed into the team’s reporting and performance structure 
• Work alongside the Content team to research and develop strong cases for support to appeal to existing donors. To gather information, case studies and photos for use in all direct marketing campaigns. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters

This role will focus the majority of their time on the acquisition of new donors. Key areas of focus in the Acquisition Marketing domain are:

About the role 

We are currently at the beginning of an exciting and ambitious program to transform our organisations Digital, Data and Technology - becoming a trusted partner for colleagues in the organisation. 

In the last year we have implemented a new CRM platform based on Salesforce and Azure platforms while continuing to adapt to modern ways of working post pandemic that have changed how our physical locations are best utilised.

As Senior Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting our current physical network hardware and solutions while we look to adopt a cloud first approach moving away from our current dependency on physical locations and legacy services. 

You'll work closely with the wider technology team on the development of our office infrastructure as we look to expand our current use of Meraki solutions to support us in providing office services to several charity partners alongside Save the Children UK.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for: 

• Monitoring our office and server platforms network connectivity to ensure availability, uptime, and responsive systems for the organisation using tools such as WhatsUpGold and Meraki portals and Azure monitor
• Maintaining our server platforms network connectivity, whether on premises, in private cloud or public cloud
• Maintaining and developing our physical office locations connectivity for end users and tenants alongside our Facilities team
• Working with our partners to maintain our WAN and cloud connectivity
• Helping implement solutions that are secure and follow Zero trust principles
• Maintaining current technologies such as Fortigate firewalls
• Implementing new technologies such as Zscaler and Azure Firewall
• Providing connectivity solutions that meet business requirements
• Documenting current and future solutions to ensure accountability and to promote Team and Organisation understanding of technologies.

About you

You'll have a track record of delivering solutions/platforms that empower organisations and understand how networks and connectivity provide the backbone of solutions and how critical infrastructure is to delivering business services.

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Significant experience in a hands-on role delivering enterprise class networking – switching, routing and Wifi
• Demonstrated experience working as a Senior / established Network Support Engineer supporting department colleagues and business users in a large-scale organisation
• Ability to Troubleshoot a variety of Technologies both independently and with third parties
• Enterprise Switching and Routing expertise
• Firewall management experience – Fortigate or equivalent Next Generation Firewalls
• Experience implementing and supporting virtual private network solutions
• CCNP equivalent level experience.

We are looking for a Senior Retention Manager for a 9 month contract with an incredible youth charity, to lead the IG & MD retention team.

This is a hybrid role with 1-2 days a week in the London office.

The Candidate

Strong direct and digital marketing technical experience and skills including creative development, complex print management, media buying for large scale campaigns, optimising, managing and reporting for digital marketing.
