As a manager, you will lead and develop our Event & Fundraising Specialist, providing coaching, support and professional development while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture. Success in this role will require strong commercial awareness, budget management expertise and the confidence to negotiate, influence and present to senior stakeholders, partners and Board members. Duties and key responsibilities
Challenge Event Support
- Provide day-to-day support to the Senior Challenge Events Officer across Sarcoma UK’s challenge events portfolio.
- Act as a point of contact for fundraisers participating in challenge events, responding to enquiries and signposting them to the right support.
- Support the delivery of the London Marathon, including stewardship and the setup of the Running Show and after party.
- Help administer the challenge events process, including registrations, deadlines, record-keeping and post-event evaluations.
- Assist with the organisation of event-day experiences, such as cheer stations and receptions, to support participants and celebrate their achievements.
- Help compile reports and evaluations for events within the challenge event portfolio.
- Support research into new challenge events to help grow the charity’s portfolio.
Communications
- Support the creation of challenge event content for online and offline channels, including the website, working with the Senior Challenge Events Officer and the Communications team.
- Help compile impact messages for fundraisers.
- Help gather fundraising stories, case studies and achievements to share with the Communications team.
Supporter Care
- Provide friendly, gold-standard support to challenge event fundraisers, helping them access the resources they need to maximise their fundraising and stay involved long term.
- Help deliver personalised stewardship journeys to support participants in meeting or exceeding their fundraising targets.
- Respond promptly to fundraising enquiries by post, email and telephone.
- Help ensure fundraisers receive timely recognition, including letters, certificates and impact updates as appropriate.
- Send fundraising materials and packs to supporters.
Administration and Compliance
- Maintain accurate supporter records using Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Help ensure Gift Aid is captured at every opportunity.
- Help monitor and manage event fundraising stock.
- Work in line with fundraising legislation, including GDPR, risk management, health and safety regulations, and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Conduct.
Other
- Provide event support, which may involve occasional weekend or evening work.
- Adapt to the evolving needs of Sarcoma UK by undertaking other duties as required.

What is the purpose of the Special Events Executive?
The Special Events fundraising Executive supports the delivery of the NSPCC's high-value events and volunteer-led fundraising initiatives, providing essential logistical, financial and administrative support to maximise income and build strong supporter relationships.
This role plays a key part in generating income to support the NSPCC's mission.
What will I be doing as a Special Events Executive?
The varied role sits within the Volunteer Board Fundraising team which leads income generation through regional and national volunteer boards, volunteer-led fundraising initiatives and delivery of special events through our high value event committees.
- To support Senior Event Managers with the development and delivery of their events, by attending committee meetings, carrying out tasks such as securing prizes, recruiting volunteers, managing small suppliers and completing admin tasks to agreed standards and deadlines.
- To carry out research for the development of events, such as researching new venues and prize partners.
- To draft and produce written correspondence such as letters, impact reports and other documents as required.
- To undertake and lead specific fundraising projects as required.
What skills do I need to be a Special Events Executive?
We are looking for a highly organised and collaborative individual with experience in a customer-focused environment, confident in building relationships with senior stakeholders and volunteers. You will have strong communication and organisation skills, and be comfortable at managing data accurately. A proactive team player, you are comfortable juggling priorities, using IT systems, and have strong written skills.

The Vacancy
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the support team within the Conference Office in the Connexional Team of the Methodist Church in Britain.
We are looking to appoint a Senior Administrator to assist in facilitating the efficient operation of the principal decision-making and oversight bodies of the Methodist Church.
The post holder will manage the processes for stationing of ministers, including the Stationing Matching Group, the Initial Stationing Sub-Committee, the Stationing Action Group. The successful applicant will also, in conjunction with colleagues, prepare the draft of the stations to be presented to the Conference.
In this crucial role, the Senior Administrator will provide administrative support, alongside the Executive Officer: Ministerial Oversight, to the Ministerial Coordinator for the Oversight of Ordained Ministries. The post holder will also provide executive support to the Authorisations Committee, including the preparation of the Committee’s report to the Conference.
The successful applicant will also supervise the arrangement and servicing of meetings and Conference Office events.
This role also involves working collaboratively with support staff in the Conference Office by supporting other parts of the team as they face peaks in their own areas of work.
