Senior Communications & Public Affairs Executive

As Senior Communications and Public Affairs Executive, you’ll play a vital role in raising the profile of the Football Foundation and its funding partners, the Premier League, The FA and Government. About the role

We are seeking to hire a dynamic and passionate Senior Ecologist to join The Lifescape Project, to play an integral role in the restoration of charismatic species to the UK and in landscape scale habitat restoration.

As a Senior Ecologist, your work will cover two distinct areas which are broadly: BNG-associated site assessments; and practical planning and feasibility aspects of species reintroductions.

Core Responsibilities

About the Role

The Queen’s Reading Room is funded entirely by grants, donations, sponsorship and income from events. We’re looking for a vibrant and well-connected individual to join the small but agile team, to lead this function within the charity and design and set up a fundraising committee. You will build on a strong base of income generation and work to sustain and expand it.

You will be responsible for building the fundraising strategy with the charity’s CEO and Board of Trustees; for identifying appropriate opportunities to generate funding in the UK and internationally; and for the targets agreed by the CEO and board. You will be comfortable with, and have experience in, the world of high profile and high net-worth individuals, legacy fundraising, fundraising and friendraising events. You will know how to build relationships with individual donor prospects along with charitable trusts, foundations and other institutional funders. You will attend networking events and meetings with potential donors.

Your role will include devising and creating fundraising events; securing sponsorship for events and festivals; contributing to the writing and submitting of funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations; and advising and providing suitable copy for fundraising marketing and digital materials. You will work with the team to create case studies and grant reports, sharing and telling great stories to supporters to ensure that they understand the difference that their donations make and with a view to securing repeat support.

You’ll create new relationships by preparing and delivering pitches, talks and presentations and prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.

You will join as a key member of the organisation, alongside the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of MarComms, Head of Talent, Head of Production and Team Researcher.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of significant and sustained income generation. You’ll have a track record of managing and developing relationships with individual donors and be committed to building good internal and external relationships. You will have experience of performing due diligence and have a careful and considered approach to fundraising. Your knowledge of the fundraising market will be excellent. You will understand the complexity of the charity landscape and the sensitivities of the role. You will understand the need for confidentiality to be paramount.

Strong writing and presentation skills are essential.

There will be a lot going on at once, so we’ll be looking for someone who is flexible with changing priorities and who has excellent administrative, IT, organisational and planning skills. About the opportunity

As an Event Content Manager, you will conduct exciting public policy research, work with the most senior speakers from across government, business, universities and civil society speaker management, and create engaging content.

You would take ownership of a portfolio of 40+ briefings, roundtables, workshops and senior level dinners per year across themes impacting economic growth and prosperity including: infrastructure, skills, net zero, AI and new technology, trade, and regulation.

Your mandate is to deliver high-quality, high-impact events, where you will be required to research key policy and economic trends affecting government, business and society, owning the full production life cycle from policy research and agenda setting to speaker acquisition and management etc. You will also collaborate with the marketing and membership functions to ensure that our policy focus for your events programme aligns with membership needs and shifting priorities.

This role is critical to our membership offer – all our events are highly respected and supported by the organisations membership base and will require a strategic thinker who can ensure that the right policy research is carried out to inform event idea validation. The role will be supported by the Event Operations team who will drive on-the-day logistics.

Responsibilities

Event content development

• Lead the content development and planning of your events programme across our themes, this includes:
  • Build compelling agendas
  • Craft key event outcomes
  • Curate engaging and thoughtful speaker briefings
  • Identify and acquire credible, expert speakers
  • Identify and draw in relevant audiences
• Conduct research on key policy and economic trends affecting sectors across our membership base including market and policy trend analysis, collecting feedback from our members including stakeholder interviews and surveying to inform your event programme.
• Lead the collaboration across internal teams to recommend and develop effective marketing and communication materials to promote the events programme such as landing pages, eNewsletter segments, and promotional campaigns, taking ownership of all event programme deliverables under your remit.

High-impact delivery

• Take an outcome-based approach to your events programme; looking with a strategic lens to determine what the optimal events format, venue, and host would be to drive high-level dialogue among cross-sector leaders.
• Design, develop and deliver event content that you will be able to use to generate insightful event write-ups and summaries so we can continue to add tangible value to our members and their sector challenges.
• Immerse yourself in the sectors by networking with key industry figureheads and build an in-depth understanding of how our themes can drive collaboration across our members.
• Oversee and liaise with the Event Operations assistant allocated to your event and/or programme to ensure smooth event delivery.

Innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration

• Evaluate and report on content impact and delivery against event outcomes to inform future production cycles and increase audience engagement and satisfaction.
• Contribute proactively to programme strategy, using evidence-based research to expand your events programme and/or enhance your event content strategy.
• Collaborate with Business Development team members to optimise member outreach and engagement, leveraging our CRM database to increase our speaker and host portfolio.

Working closely with our Board of Trustees, you will develop and deliver the charity’s strategic plans, manage operations, and build strong relationships with stakeholders. You'll play a pivotal part in leading the organisation and overseeing its day-to-day functions, while fostering a supportive and productive environment for staff. 
 
This is an exciting time to join us, as AWN will commence a 4-day work week (32hrs) pilot for 6-9 months on commencement of the role. With our highly supportive Board, this opportunity is suitable for both established leaders and those ready to step up.

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Operations 

• Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth running of all charity functions. 

• Manage and lead a growing team, providing support and guidance. 

• Lead recruitment, staff development, and HR management in collaboration with the Board. 

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and manage organisational risks. 

• Develop and monitor operational systems to track progress and outcomes of key initiatives. 

• Foster a positive and growth-oriented work environment, helping staff realise their potential. 

Board Collaboration & Strategic Planning 

• Work closely with the Board to implement AWN’s strategic and operational plans. 

• Assist with budget management, resource allocation, fundraising, and grant management. 

• Take charge of the Annual Report and related documentation, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements. 

• Support the Board in maintaining effective governance, including updating key policy documents (e.g. risk register). 

External Representation & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Represent AWN at stakeholder and partnership meetings, building and maintaining key relationships aligned with strategic goals. 

• Support the team in managing partnerships and providing strategic advice on project delivery. 

• Attend relevant events outside office hours and on weekends when necessary. 

AWN is looking for: 

Essential 

• Strong organisational and independent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 

• Proven experience in operations management, with a track record of improving processes and productivity. 

• The ability to work with and report to the Board of Trustees, including governance and strategic planning, alongside familiarity with charity legislation, guidelines, and best practices. 

• Experience with grant-making, funding, and resource allocation. 

• Experience in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

• Confidence in public speaking and representing AWN at external events. 

• Ability to support staff development and align team goals with AWN’s strategic vision. 

• Strategic thinking, with clear communication of AWN’s vision. 

• Knowledge of the Muslim community and their needs in the UK. 

• Knowledge of GDPR, data protection, and the regulatory landscape for charities. 

• Understanding of the not-for-profit sector, particularly Muslim-led charities. 

Desirable 

• Experience in managing remote teams effectively.

Executive Assistant | £35,000 - £38,000 + benefits | London | Hybrid | Permanent

On behalf of a nationwide faith-based charity based in London, we are recruiting a permanent Executive Assistant to support the Company Secretary and other Executives. The Executive Assistant with work with a wider executive support team to provide PA support and to ensure the smooth-running of the day-to-day administration, dairy management and travel bookings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as first point of contact for the Company Secretary
• Manage the Executive's diary, in confidence, including appointments and travel
• Act on behalf of the Company Secretary, interpreting and prioritising requests via email, written correspondence and by telephone
• Provide documentation and schedules are required
• Organise and execute key events and meetings and arrange bookings of venues, overseeing arrangements with support colleagues - act as host for meetings as appropriate
• Provide support for the wider senior management group, arranging arrangements for regular meetings including booking meeting rooms, preparing agendas and supporting documents, liaising with guests and taking notes
• Supporting the work of the Conference Office
• Managing the processing of expenses and invoices against budget codes

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO and as part of the senior leadership team, you will provide compassionate and strategic leadership across all operational areas – including mental health, substance use, and outreach – the Director of Service Delivery ensures services are safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed, and that they reflect the diversity and lived experience of the communities we support.

You will hold accountability for service performance, safeguarding, quality assurance, and system partnerships. They work closely with the CEO, the Director of Operations (internal systems and transformation), and the Head of Finance and Resources to ensure operational delivery is effectively supported by infrastructure, systems, and financial stewardship.

Who We’re Looking For

Proven track record of delivering high quality, person led and socially impactful services and managing internal functions

Senior operational leadership experience in health, care, VCSE or related sectors

Experience in managing service compliance and staff wellbeing

Demonstrated success in leading performance improvement and impact measurement

Strong partnership working experience across statutory, VCSE and community systems

Budget management, including responsibility for service level budget setting, monitoring and decision making

Deep understanding of safeguarding frameworks, regulation and operational risk

Strong leadership and coaching skills rooted in empathy, empowerment and inclusion
