This is a position offering someone with the appropriate values and experience, the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the Finance Team, coordinating the Finance Department, ensuring that financial & payroll information is processed in accordance with HMN procedures & timescales.

As a Financial Controller you will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager to drive quality financial processes through the core of the organisation, leading on the management of the team.

About the Role   

As our Financial Controller, you'll lead the day-to-day financial operations of the charity, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and efficient processes that support our mission. You'll oversee month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, providing clear insights to inform decision-making across the organisation. About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Senior Finance Business Partner will play a central role in supporting the Museum’s capital programmes, including the NHM150 portfolio. 
You will lead on financial planning, modelling and analysis, ensuring accurate and insightful reporting to support decision-making across complex, multi-year projects.
Working closely with senior leaders, project teams and external stakeholders, you will act as a trusted advisor—bringing commercial insight, financial rigour and strategic thinking to drive successful outcomes.
This role combines technical excellence, leadership and strong stakeholder engagement, with a clear focus on continuous improvement and organisational impact.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead financial support for major capital programmes, providing robust modelling and scenario analysis
• Deliver insightful analysis of costs, risks and opportunities to support strategic decision-making
• Produce detailed financial reports, including variance analysis and commentary

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Own the development and management of programme budgets and forecasts
• Oversee cashflow forecasting and ensure alignment with wider organisational financial planning
• Ensure accuracy of income, expenditure and accounting treatment across projects

Business Partnering & Leadership

• Build strong relationships with project teams, senior stakeholders and external partners
• Act as a trusted advisor, providing clear and accessible financial insight
• Present financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences
• Line manage and develop two Finance Business Partners

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Support risk management processes, including financial risk and contingency planning
• Enhance financial processes, controls and reporting tools
• Collaborate with development teams on funding applications and financial reporting requirements

About You
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong business partnering experience and a track record of supporting complex programmes or projects. 

You will bring:

• Significant experience in senior finance business partnering roles with large or complex budgets
• Strong financial modelling, analysis and advanced Excel skills
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making
• Proven ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-finance audiences
• Strong leadership skills, including experience managing and developing team members
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Experience in the charity, museum or not-for-profit sector is advantageous but not essential.

About the role

This is a senior leader role and will play a key role in delivering financial strategy, having oversight of the charity’s finance function, and working with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure the charity’s long-term financial security. The role requires excellent accountancy skills, as well as previous experience in overseeing a range of finance functions and managing a team. You will oversee the charity’s financial accounts and reporting; bookkeeping and processing; budget and forecasts; and bank accounts. You will manage a full-time Finance Manager, who has two direct reports and a Senior Finance Officer who oversees tutor and staff payroll. You will champion the charity’s values and embody them in interactions with colleagues. You will be willing to learn and have a can-do attitude.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, with significant professional experience across a range of areas within finance. Your work will be accurate, efficient, and transparent, setting the standard within the Finance Team. You will be comfortable working with colleagues across the charity to implement cost controls, and to collect and report on financial data. You will regularly present this data to senior members of staff, including at the quarterly Board of Trustees meetings and the charity’s Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees. You will be an adept project manager, able to coordinate actions, track progress and deliver results, alongside having strong attention to detail and people skills. Candidates for this role should be comfortable working in a busy, efficient and high-performing team.

Reporting to the Principal & CEO, the Finance Director will lead the finance function across RADA and RADA Business Ltd.

The Senior Finance Assistant and Payroll Administrator will provide financial administrative support for the Finance Team, and the payroll function for the organisation, allowing appropriate information to be provided to stakeholders at all times.

You will support the implementation of our Finance strategy and have empathy for the work of Teesside Hospice.

You will assist in providing a communication link between the Finance Department and other departments who rely on robust support.

You will work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure the effective day to day operation of your duties, thus allowing The Financial Controller to prepare timely, complete and accurate management accounts. A large element of the role involves taking the lead on the purchase ledger system. The role also involves other aspects such as daily logging of donations, weekly reconciliation of lottery membership records, bank reconciliations, submitting Gift Aid claims and more outlined in the duties section.

You will lead in preparing, running and finalising the payroll for companies in the Teesside Hospice group. You will be the payroll link between the Finance Department and other departments who rely on our support. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and Group Director of Resources to ensure the effective day to day operation of the payroll, thus allowing for accuracy of payments to staff alongside meeting all of the necessary regulatory requirements i.e. apprenticeship levy, SMP, auto enrolment.

You will be highly organised and able to work to deadlines, working independently as well as collaborating as part of a team.  An enjoyment and appreciation for attention to detail is essential.
