We are seeking a knowledgeable individual to oversee the Fundraising Development Manager position for a fixed-term, covering maternity leave. The successful applicant will have some professional experience of fundraising and/or education development, together with experience of developing good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will be managing an established income stream that raises important core and project funding for Willen Hospice. With strong communication & relationship-building skills you will report to the Associate Director of Income Generation, working across clinical and support departments and with external partners to write high-calibre, persuasive applications and reports. 

We are looking for someone with a track record of securing funding and two years’ experience in Trusts & Foundation Fundraising, Commercial or Statutory bid writing.

The purpose of the role

Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. You will research, identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, areas of potential support and build a robust pipeline for restricted grants and corporate partners.

The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

This position is a permanent, full-time role to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The nature of community fundraising is that there will be evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Property Management & Resources Officer

We are offering an interesting and varied opportunity to support the work of the Connexional Team and the wider Methodist Church in delivering its strategic plan to make the best use of its property portfolio in local communities across the country and centrally.

Working alongside the Director and colleagues within the Property Support team, you will be providing support and management to Connexional property, particularly focussing on the Connexional manse portfolio and its resident ministers.  Alongside this, you will lead on the communications and resourcing to the District Property Officer network and other relevant networks, across the Connexion.

You will also be a central Property Support team member assisting team colleagues within their specific areas of expertise including Listed Buildings and the Church’s net zero strategy.  This could be through the provision of proactive support of and input into, relevant forms of guidance, advice, communications, training and good practice.

You will also support the Director in the administration of property grants and application received for replacement Projects under Standing Order 973.

About You

We are looking for someone who wants to make a positive contribution to the work of the Property Support team and be equally comfortable collaborating in a team environment or under your own initiative.  You will preferably have experience supporting a senior team within a property function and preferably have some experience in a property or project management type function.

As the role will underpin and contribute to supporting the team’s work with external colleagues, particularly the District Property Officer network, it is essential that you are comfortable in engaging with a range of stakeholders, and have excellent organisational skills, particularly in terms of resourcing and training.

The role will be very collaborative with team colleagues, and therefore experience and ability to plan, research and assimilate new information alongside the analysis and delivery of projects will be an essential quality.

This new role will lead on Platform’s People and Process functions as we progress through the next stage of our exciting restructure process.

We are a flat-structured organisation that makes decisions collectively. We are currently developing and designing a new organisational structure based on sociocracy where staff are supported to work more collectively and strategically across our seven programs. 

The focus of this role will be on transforming and strengthening our HR systems and processes to centre compassion, care and liberation. As well as delivering the day-to-day HR functions within our small organisation, this role will lead on the long-term design and implementation of a People Strategy and a Learning and Development Strategy, supporting our staff to develop their own roles while growing as a team within our new structure. Key priorities for this work will be:

• Leading a review of recruitment practices, with a particular focus on equity and anti-oppression

• Leading a review of our line management practices and processes

• Supporting the review of our Socially Just Waging System policy

This role will sit within our new ‘Resourcing Circle’ - working with the Finance and Fundraising staff and liaising with our Board of Trustees.

We are looking for someone passionate about radical HR practices, who is excited to help us develop a structure that empowers and adequately resources our team to deliver their work.

Salary: Baseline salary as of March 2024 is £42,248 pro rata  (£33,791 at 4 days a week) and is subject to Platform’s Socially Just Waging System.

A key member of WVUK’s Humanitarian & International Programmes (HIP) management team, you’ll lead the unit that’s responsible for acquiring around £35m of institutional donor funding (grants & contracts) each year, as well as corporate and philanthropic proposal development on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Directorate. About you

To succeed, you’ll need proven experience of developing and maintaining relations with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements and shifting worldviews (particularly DFID/FCDO, EU/ECHO), and working with, managing, and developing relationships with consortium partners. You’ll also need field experience of working in different cultures and religious contexts. Proactive and creative in improving existing processes and developing new ones to improve efficiency and effectiveness, you’re adept at knowledge management within a demanding team environment and used to line managing and training, mentoring or capacity building a team.

You’re an excellent project manager too - someone who’s comfortable working on complex multiple tasks and prioritising to meet deadlines. Expertise in a specific technical area - e.g., child protection, health, nutrition, livelihoods, social accountability, resilience or economic development, would also be useful, as would working knowledge of a second language. Head of HR (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 28 hours per week (flexible working opportunities available)
Salary: £50,500 - £54,351 per annum (FTE)
Contract: Up to 12-month maternity cover (anticipated start date of 1st August 2024)
Base: Osney Mead, Oxford & work from home with occasional travel across Oxon & Wokingham, Reading, West Berks

The Head of HR works closely with the Senior Management Team, Trustees and all staff and provides operational leadership of Oxfordshire Mind’s HR services to enable our Vision and Purpose and deliver our strategic objectives through our people whilst upholding the values of the organisation.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO and managing a talented team of 2 HR Business Partners and 1 HR & Recruitment Administrator you will:

• Develop and implement HR strategies, processes and services aligned with our overall strategy and vision
• Develop Staff Wellbeing strategy and oversee the Staff Wellbeing Action Group
• Lead the HR function and team and be a pro-active member of the Senior Management Team
• Ensure high quality delivery of HR responsibilities including policies and processes, HRIS, resourcing, reward, employee services, management development, employee relations and learning
• Be the appointed competent person to advise on Health & Safety across the organisation, this includes ongoing monitoring via KPI’s and internal audits and leading the Health & Safety committee meetings
• Support and continue to develop the Employee Forum, including being a point of contact for the Union
• Embed a co-productive approach with partners, managers and leaders to achieve strategy and targets
• Monitor and provide insight and guidance on the effectiveness of people management practices and processes via a range of KPIs
• Support change initiatives and programmes
• Be an influential and visible figure in the business driving improvements forward in relation to people and culture
• Budget management and oversight
• Ensure HR compliance and risk management for employee relations issues and ensuring the organisation remains up to date with relevant legislation

About you

Essential criteria

• Previous experience across most HR disciplines such as recruitment and retention, wellbeing, learning and development, and HR administration as well as navigating complex HR issues
• Strong team manager who inspires and motivates hybrid and remote team members, promoting a positive and productive work environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
• Strong relationship building skills at a senior level internally and externally and able to nurture partnerships and collaborative relationships with a range of organisations and stakeholders
• Ability to lead change projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely and successful implementation
• Proficient in identifying and mitigating risks associated with change initiatives
• Experience of using office productivity software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) or equivalent and HRIS
• Takes a values-based approach to HR, aligning practices and decisions with the core values and culture of the organisation
• Has an understanding or passion for mental health and what we do

Desirable criteria

• Strong experience in all HR disciplines including Reward management, organisational design and talent management
• Significant leadership experience gained at senior level in a complex environment including working with unions either formally or informally
• Demonstrates self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and integrity, working with clarity and honesty
• Experience of working in the charity/mental health sector or with a board of trustees
• Ability to think strategically, develop a clear vision for the organisation, and influence key stakeholders. Proven track record in making sound strategic decisions considering long-term impact
• Passionate about the organisational vision, inspiring and motivating teams towards ambitious goals. Visionary and resilient during periods of change

They do this by advocating for policy changes and campaign tirelessly to ensure that decision-makers address the inequalities experienced by families with disabled children. This amazing organisation are entering a period of exciting change and are searching for Head of HR on a permanent basis to head up their dynamic HR team and bring their performance and capacity to the next level. This role within this incredible charity is very suitable for those with experience in the not-for-profit sector.

This is a hybrid role, and only requiring a minimum of one day a week in their main office which is a short walk from Old Street Station (National Rail) and Angel Station (London Underground). This position will be reporting directly to Director of Finance and Resources and the main responsibilities for Head of HR are:

• Deliver fit-for-purpose HR services, including people management strategies, performance development, and employment relations advice.
• Act as a proactive business partner, offering support and guidance to key stakeholders such as line managers, team heads, and the senior management team.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance & Resources to enhance internal HR policies and systems for effective organisational functioning.
• Lead the development and implementation of the future people strategy in alignment with Contact's broader strategy and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Manage two direct reports, oversee relationships with external partners, and ensure efficient HR and resource support services for Contact.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Extensive experience as a primary resource for all HR policy matters throughout an organisation.
• Possession of a professional HR qualification, minimally CIPD Level 5 (Associate) or equivalent.
• Proficiency in organising and prioritising dynamic workloads for optimal operational outcomes.
• Skilled in conducting difficult conversations, conflict resolution, and fostering compassionate communication.
• Qualification/experience in project management
• Experience in reward and benefits review process
