We are looking for an experienced and trusted individual to work closely with our CEO, Director of Finance and Corporate Services, and Board of Trustees to ensure strong governance across the organisation. You’ll work with our friendly leadership team to make sure that, as a charity, we have effective policies and procedures in place.

About the role

You’ll be accountable for managing all areas of corporate governance relating to our Board of Trustees and related committees. This will include providing general advice on corporate governance matters, as well as drafting, updating and advising on corporate governance policies, documents and processes. You’ll organise recruitment of new trustees, induction and onboarding, preparing, editing and circulating agendas and papers as well as management of a plan of corporate meetings.
 

You’ll manage our register of interests, coordinate the risk register, report on this and provide advice as required, such as around conflicts of interest, while also supporting internal audit and working closely with the CEO and Director of Finance and Corporate Services.
 

You will work with senior colleagues to ensure regulatory requirements are met including submissions to relevant bodies and support board and committee projects, including Charity Governance Code compliance.
 

The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK.

About you

Essential Skills / Competencies

• You will have significant experience of working in corporate governance and able to demonstrate an understanding of the governance requirements of charities and companies.
• Able to provide advice and to know when to seek legal advice in relation to governance and company law.

About the Role

• Managing the organisation’s financial responsibilities, working to tight deadlines, and a varied workload across different areas of responsibility, particularly in relation to financial reporting. As well as ensuring that financial processes are accurate, up to date and compliant with statutory requirements

• Significant experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally as a COO, Head of Operations or Director of Operations in a charity, social enterprise or purpose-driven organisation.

• Demonstrable track record of building and improving operational infrastructure: systems, processes, policies and ways of working that make organisations more effective and resilient.

• Proven people management experience, including line management of senior staff, performance development, recruitment and team culture-building.

• Strong financial literacy, including experience of budget management, grant compliance, financial reporting and working with a board finance function.

• Experience of leading or supporting governance processes, including board reporting, risk management and compliance.

About the role

Home-based role within the relevant region, or within reasonable travelling distance to meet the requirements of the post (subject to meeting homeworking assessment requirements, including a minimum broadband speed of 18Mbps and a dedicated space to work from).

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Employee Relations and Union Services in the CSP as a full time Senior Negotiating Officer (SNO) for the West Midlands region. This is a challenging, but very enjoyable role which will see you: 

• Supporting, advising and training the network of stewards, safety representatives and equality representatives in the West Midlands region. 
• Advising and supporting stewards to manage their own casework, whilst managing your own caseload of employment relations issues, including but not limited to dicisplinaries, grievances, sickness absence, HCPC and legal cases. 
• Attending and representing the CSP at strategic regional forums such as regional Social Partnership Forum’s and Integrated Care Board’s/Integrated Care System’s.

You will be working in a wider team of Senior Negotiating Officers and organisers, whilst also working in a cross directorate fashion to deliver on the local priorities for members.

We are looking for an individual with significant experience and a background in the trade union movement. They should be dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for members and to building the membership and activism levels in the CSP.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to problem solve. You will also have experience in advocacy and representing members and have a thorough understanding of the current issues facing CSP members. You will also be expected to be able to display excellent trade union knowledge.
