Senior Major Gifts Manager
Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week (flexible arrangements open to discussion)
Work from anywhere in the UK (regular travel and London meetings required)
£50,000 - £55,000 per annum
As Senior Major Gifts Manager, you'll help deliver a step-change in philanthropy by providing strategic development and hands-on leadership of a major donor portfolio, securing high five-figure and six-figure gifts, and building new deep, long-term donor relationships that power the Major Appeal. This role is not about inheriting a fully "finished" programme. This is an opportunity for someone who can roll up their sleeves in a period of change: strengthening best practice, helping embed effective ways of working, and supporting a team (three direct reports) to thrive while key systems, processes and methodologies continue to develop.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in major donor fundraising, with a strong track record of personally securing significant gifts at high five and/or six figure level from individuals. You'll be a confident, supportive line manager, comfortable navigating key stakeholders internally and externally and evolving ways of working.

About the Role
We are seeking a high-performing, experienced, and self-directed compliance professional to provide maternity cover within the Grants, Contracts & Compliance (GCC) department.
This role requires someone who operates with excellence, independence, and sound judgement from day one—a person who is confident navigating complex donor rules, shaping risk‑mitigation strategies, and leading award management processes without needing extensive onboarding. You will oversee the full lifecycle of European donor‑funded awards, ensuring rigorous contractual and regulatory compliance across Internews. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:
Compliance
· Review and approve proposal budgets for assigned funding opportunities.
· Review donor agreements and ensure terms are acceptable; support the Director of GCC in strengthening organisational risk‑mitigation practices.
· Advise staff on Internews’ internal and donor rules across the project cycle.
· Work with Programme Officers and cross-functional teams on effective project start‑up, including inductions, adapting award procedures/templates, and ongoing staff training; conduct country visits when required.
· Collaborate with Finance to support successful programme audits.
· Maintain and update organisational data on institutional donor platforms (e.g., EU Transparency Register, IATI).
· Develop and maintain training materials and guidelines for at least one major donor; provide expert compliance guidance across GCC.
· Deliver inductions and training for new and junior GCC staff.
· Set up and maintain complete and up‑to‑date award records in line with donor and Internews requirements.
Development
· At proposal stage, review and approve teaming agreements and NDAs with bid partners.

The Project Officer will implement programme and project activities while also providing strategy and administrative support to the CEO, helping to coordinate organisational priorities and key initiatives.

About the role
The Senior Legacy Manager will lead the development and delivery of London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s legacy programme, ensuring legacy giving is embedded across fundraising and marketing activity and is front of mind across the organisation.
This role is responsible for managing our legacy marketing programme, working closely with the marketing team to deliver compelling, sensitive and effective activity. The postholder will also oversee our outsourced legacy administration partner, ensuring legacy gifts are processed efficiently, compliantly and in line with best practice, through regular performance monitoring and review.
Working across the Fundraising and Marketing Directorate, the Senior Legacy Manager will champion legacies as a vital form of support, collaborating closely with all teams in the directorate. This will include working with the major donor team to identify and develop high-value legacy opportunities and supporting the community engagement team to integrate in-memory and legacy messaging into the community talks programme and engagement activity within the community.
The role also plays a key part in connecting our legacy and in-memory programmes, working with the community engagement team and the Deputy Director to develop a joined up in-memory strategy that ensures a coherent and compassionate supporter experience.

You’ll be an experienced and confident legacy fundraising professional with a passion for building long-term impact. About the role
This is a pivotal role within our newly established Prospect Development and Insight function, giving you the opportunity to shape how we identify, research, and prioritise the high‑value prospects who can make transformational gifts to Macmillan.
You will be responsible for feeding high‑quality insight directly to fundraisers, supporting them to grow pipelines, prioritise approaches, and unlock opportunities across corporate partnerships, philanthropy, and trusts. You’ll use a wide range of research techniques and tools to identify prospects, evaluate their potential, support risk management through due diligence, and provide concise, high‑impact briefings for fundraisers and senior leaders.

I. JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Right To Play UK, the Head of Individual Giving will be responsible for leading on community, mid and major donor fundraising and philanthropy for Right To Play UK. The incumbent will deliver a successful strategy for Right To Play UK’s work in this area, leading on developing and coordinating fundraising campaigns, building, and developing our portfolio of major donors, developing a philanthropy pipeline and facilitating bespoke events with the aim of generating substantial income in line with the organisation’s budgetary objectives.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Individual Giving campaigns and strategy (20% time):
- Collaborate on development and implementation of UK individual giving strategy, working closely with the UK leadership team and international colleagues.
- Develop, adapt and coordinate UK fundraising campaigns for mid and major donors, work closely with the Head of Communications and Engagement and UK team.
- Project manage delivery of campaigns by the RTP UK staff team, working across audiences.
- Analyse and report on audience, results and trends and use this to inform future plans.
- Manage the Individual Giving Officer and provide guidance on their development of key projects.
2.Major Giving and Philanthropy (50% time):
- Lead on developing, implementing and reporting on Right To Play’s individual giving strategy in the UK, in alignment with Right To Play’s global strategic plan, in collaboration with the Head of Partnerships and Executive Director.
- Directly manage a range of major donor and philanthropic relationships, as well as oversight of relationship management by colleagues and the Partnerships team.
- Lead on researching, identifying, developing, and supporting new major donor funding opportunities with the aim of generating substantial income from this fundraising source in line with the organization’s budgetary objectives.
- Lead on ongoing communications strategy for our mid and major donor support base, building support and ensuring consistency across a range of constituent groups.
3. Major donor events development (15%):
- Lead on design and development of bespoke major donor events (e.g. 30 person dinner), working closely with service providers, donors and the RTP UK team.
- Lead on stewardship of events-focused audiences, building a long-term, diversified support base.
4. Contribute and support global and UK team (10%):
- Contribute to global projects and strategies through the global fundraising team.
- Contribute to the development of global strategic initiatives, including developing major donor relationships in other RTP supporter countries.
- Support the work of the wider Right To Play UK team, focussing on shared team goals.
5. Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)
- Undertake any other activities reasonably requested by the Executive Director.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Must have):
(A) EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:
- Undergraduate degree from a relevant university program or equivalent work experience
(B) EXPERIENCE:
- 5-year’s relevant experience including working within a senior fundraising role, working on fundraising strategy and successful campaigns.
- Experience in managing relationships with a range of major donors.
- Experience developing and securing high value relationships and gifts.
- Experience developing/approving reports and proposals for major donors and/or tailoring to a UK audience.
- Experience representing an organisation with senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing a varied workload and balancing conflicting priorities.

Income generation

· Develop ideas for creative sponsorship and funding opportunities, putting together and submitting proposal and tender documents; identifying suitable partners; presenting proposals and closing deals
· Converting pilot and seed-funded contracts to longer-term sustainable contracts e.g. current Postcode Lottery agreement in the North-East converting to a long-term contract with North-East and North Cumbria ICB (more information to this can be given at interview stage)
· Support drawing up and negotiating contracts and ensuring delivery
· Work with stakeholders and our internal team to scope and develop exciting new opportunities

Partnerships and Networks
· Build and maintain a network of strategic key external contacts that can support Advantage Mentoring’s work. Stakeholders will be from private, public and third sector groups. Take an active role in representing Advantage Mentoring to appropriate Trusts and Foundations

Communication, marketing and external relations

· Represent Advantage Mentoring with external audiences (in the media, at events, in meetings with senior stakeholders)
Strategic Leadership
· Develop and implement Advantage’s income generation strategy and policies, as a part of the Leadership Team

· Design and develop key income generation materials to enhance our external visibility including extending our profile via submissions for awards and recognition programmes
· Plan and support events for awareness raising and dissemination of our work
· Ensure systems and processes for managing data comply with the organisation’s data protection obligations, charity law and GDPR

CRM
- Support the design and rollout of our first CRM system, working closely with the Finance & Operations Manager to design fit-for-purpose donor journeys and pathways, establish meaningful reporting frameworks and ensure data supports excellent stewardship and strategic decision-making.
- Use CRM data and financial information to track performance, analyse trends and adjust strategy as required.
Data & impact
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including ICO guidance, GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
- Work closely with the Finance & Operations Manager to ensure our data meaningfully represents organisational outcomes.
- Translate impact data into powerful, succinct and persuasive communications or compelling cases for support.

We also work with local communities and our members to challenge common assumptions or biases about those with learning disabilities which impact their experience of living and working in the Borough.
We provide independent one-to-one, short- and long-term advocacy, facilitate self-advocacy groups, offer workshops and provide accessible consultations. As part of our commitment to supporting people who use our services, we empower people to become confident self-advocates, taking on leadership roles in our organisation and in other decision-making forums.
Job purpose
To champion the vision and mission of Advocacy In Greenwich (AIG) by building strong partnerships with community organisations and local authorities; and by developing and delivering impactful initatives for people with learning disabilities and autism. The role creates opportunities for meanfingful engagement, ensures services are inclusive and accessible, and upholds the highest standards of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in line with national best practice.
Strategic Oversight
- Lead the development and delivery of Advocacy In Greenwich’s strategy in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, staff, consultants (including those with lived experience), beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
- Implement the Charity Excellence Framework to drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a supportive and innovative working environment where all employees are encouraged to contribute ideas for AiG’s growth.
- Build and maintain strong networks with local authorities, healthcare professionals, funders, and partner organisations (including neighbouring CEOs and leadership teams) to share best practice, coordinate initiatives, and advance opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism.
- Ensure strategic partnerships enhance AiG’s reputation, maximise opportunities for service users, and maintain consistent standards of advocacy across the borough.
- Stay informed about relevant policy developments to position AiG for new opportunities.
- Lead on financial strategy, income generation, and annual budgeting.
- Represent AiG professionally as its public face, building trust and credibility.
- Write compelling funding bids and narratives for innovative, needs-led initiatives.
- Liaise with major funders and donors to secure and deliver impactful projects.
Operational Responsibilities
- Regularly update and maintain organisational policies and procedures, developing new ones as needed to meet project requirements.
- Create and update resources to support both new and existing projects.
- Maintain a professional presence and reputation both internally and externally.
- Manage and support all staff and volunteers, ensuring effective team performance.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear, achievable operational plans, ensuring all team members understand their roles and deliverables to meet funding requirements.
- Oversee robust monitoring and evaluation processes, collecting data, testimonials, and stories to demonstrate impact and fulfil contractual obligations.
- Support staff, volunteers, and consultants to understand and meet funder criteria.· Implement staff appraisal systems and ensure ongoing training and professional development
- Uphold best practice standards to maintain high-quality service delivery.
Governance
- Ensure the Board of Trustees can fulfil its duties and that Advocacy In Greenwich remains fully compliant with all legislation and reporting requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate reports to the Board on all matters within their remit.
- Work with the Chair to develop and deliver an effective induction programme, ensuring trustees understand their roles and responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of the Annual Report and statutory accounts.
- Lead the development, monitoring, and implementation of the charity’s Risk Register, ensuring risks to AiG and its beneficiaries are minimised.
- Take lead responsibility for safeguarding across the organisation.
- Ensure all staff, volunteers, consultants, and trustees have access to training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Personal Development
- Engage in regular supervision to support your own professional growth and reflective practice, ensuring the continued quality and stability of the organisation’s services.
- Provide regular supervision and conduct staff appraisals, supporting staff wellbeing, performance, and professional development across the team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by identifying and supporting relevant training and development opportunities for staff, volunteers, and consultants, who are people with learning disabilities and autism employed on zero-hour contracts.

Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the scope and level of the post as required by the Board of Trustees.
