Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Senior Philanthropy Officer to join our Philanthropy team based in London or Manchester.

Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The requirement is a minimum of 50% of your working week to be worked in the office. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period (e.g., two days one week and three days the next). For colleagues on different contracts (including part-time or compressed contracts) this will be adjusted accordingly.

We provide homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. High Value Giving is an area of income growth for Centrepoint, with the Philanthropy team forming part of the Relationship Fundraising Department. The Senior Philanthropy Officer role plays a crucial part within the Philanthropy team, as the team look to build upon their recent successes and income trajectory.

Developing donor relationships, producing important cultivation resources and contributing to the creation of a robust donor pipeline will form key responsibilities for this role. About You

The Senior Philanthropy Officer will report into the Philanthropy Manager. This role will steward its own major donor portfolio, managing gifts between £5,000 and £100,000, and project manage an element of the team strategy to help achieve the Philanthropy income target.

The post holder with work closely with other teams, particularly the mid-value team, within fundraising and the organisation more widely, to maximise income for Centrepoint.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Philanthropy Officer, you will play a key role in growing high-value income by developing relationships with major donors and building a strong pipeline of future supporters.

You will manage your own portfolio of major donors while also contributing to the wider philanthropy strategy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and stewarding a portfolio of major donors, developing tailored engagement and communication plans
• Growing income from existing donors and cultivating new major donor prospects
• Leading the Mid Value to Major Donor pathway, identifying and developing high-potential donors
• Project managing key elements of the philanthropy strategy to drive income growth
• Working with teams across the organisation to identify funding needs and develop compelling cases for support
• Producing major donor appeals, reports, newsletters and updates
• Maintaining accurate donor records and reporting on the CRM system
• Managing administrative and financial processes relating to donor income
• Representing the organisation at donor meetings, events and service visits

As Major Donor Manager, you will support the delivery of UK Youth's major donor programme, cultivating high-value, long-term relationships with high-net-worth (HNW) individuals in support of UK Youth's mission and vision. We are now seeking a Head of Legacy Giving to lead this important area. Reporting to the Deputy Fundraising Director, Key Relationships, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Greenpeace UK’s legacy programme, overseeing both marketing and administration to maximise future income from gifts in wills.

You will lead a small specialist team and work closely with colleagues across the organisation, as well as internationally across the Greenpeace network. The role offers the opportunity to influence both UK and global legacy strategy, contributing to a shared ambition for growth across multiple markets.

As Head of Legacy Giving, you will:

• Develop and deliver Greenpeace UK’s legacy giving strategy, driving growth in both pledged and realised income

Purpose of role

As the Managing Director for the UK and Europe, you will develop and deliver the European fundraising strategy and plans and oversee the execution of all fundraising activities in Europe. Primary responsibilities

The job holder will have the following key responsibilities: 

• Oversees fundraising activities and performance in Humane World for Animals’ EU and UK offices. Works closely with the Country Directors and the VP of International Fundraising on the execution of the fundraising programmes. • Monitors and reports on performance progress towards agreed revenue targets; efficiency and cost-effectiveness (including external fundraising contractors); and challenges or opportunities in the external fundraising environment. (20%)

Education and experience

• An academic degree or equivalent work experience is required.

The Role

As our Fundraising Manager, you will be both strategic and hands-on, leading income growth while helping us nurture and evolve our overall approach to fundraising.

Over the past few years, The Urology Foundation has experienced an exciting period of growth, enabling them to strategically broaden their research portfolio and focus on driving greater impact. 

In 2024, they launched a bold new research strategy, co-created with a brilliant and diverse group of researchers. To fuel this vision, the charity are launching a £5m major appeal (with a significant proportion of this already committed) and as such, require a Director of Philanthropy to strategically lead and engage a newly established Development Board to maximise network opportunities and secure significant gifts from HNWI supporters. 

As Director of Philanthropy you will lead, shape and accelerate this appeal with a long-term vision of building a sustainable major giving function for the organisation. The Urology Foundation is a small organisation with big ambitions and a powerful team behind it to enable the success of the appeal - they're looking for a skilled philanthropy fundraiser who is energised by uncovering networks, strategising for the long term and eager to build committed relationships. 

You may already be a Director of Philanthropy, or a Deputy looking for your first senior step. Either way, you'll be relationship led and driven to spot opportunities, building trust with senior clinicians, board members and high value supporters. A background in health/medical research is certainly desirable but isn't essential - what matters more is that you understand how to navigate networks, work with major donor prospects and turn conversations into commitments. 

As Director of Philanthropy you will:

• Provide strategic direction and hands-on support to secure major gifts, collaborating closely with internal colleagues and senior stakeholders (including the CEO, Development Board and senior clinicians) to maximise network opportunities.
• Take ownership of the new appeal, driving strategy, momentum and donor engagement to develop a strong pipeline of new prospects and leads. 
• Oversee the creation of new cases for support, briefings and donor resources to ensure the organisational narrative remains compelling and evidence-driven. 
• Personally establish and manage a portfolio of HNWI supporters, ensuring tailored cultivation plans and stewardship. 
• Collaborate with the Director of Communications to produce compelling fundraising assets that elevate the profile of the organisation and encourage high-value support. 
• With the support of the Events Manager, establish and co-ordinate a variety of events to support the appeal, engaging with HNW prospects and supporters. 

The role would best suit:

• A senior philanthropy fundraiser, with proven success in establishing pipelines of HNWI supporters and securing major gifts. 
• An individual with experience of campaign fundraising/working closely with senior volunteers/trustees and senior stakeholders to establish new network opportunities. 
• A strategic thinker with the ability to create long-term engagement plans that consider opportunities for support beyond the immediate appeal. 
• Someone who is happy to be both strategic and hands-on - you'll be comfortable with strategically shaping propositions and guiding senior leadership with HNWI engagements, but equally happy to meet prospects and handle day-to-day stewardship of your own portfolio.

When young people in care turn 18, all the support they’ve relied on can fall away, literally overnight.  Suddenly, they have to navigate adulthood on their own. This would be tough for any teenager, even if they could fall back on their family for help. So it’s not surprising that two out of three care-experienced young people feel unprepared to leave care. Too many still don’t get the support they need to make it safely past this cliff edge.

Care leavers aged 18-21 are nine times more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.

Settle exists to change this. We’re an award-winning charity, supporting care-experienced young people as they move into their first home, so they can confidently transition into independent living, avoid eviction and homelessness, and establish the foundations they need to thrive in adulthood. We are on a mission to end homelessness among care-experienced young people.
