The National Archives are a non-ministerial department, and the official archive and publisher for the UK Government, and for England and Wales. We are the guardians of over 1,000 years of iconic national documents.

Operating within the Management Accounting team, the postholder will act as a Senior Management Accountant for the business area for which they are made responsible. Working directly with budget holders, Heads of Department and Directors, they will manage all aspects of their management accounting and financial planning services providing incisive, value-add financial support and analysis which facilitates effective decision making.

The role:

• Be responsible for the provision of timely, accurate, relevant management information to all levels of management within assigned Directorates, regularly reviewing this information with the senior management teams. This will include provision of monthly reports, critical review of results, value-add analysis, explanation of variances and early identification of potential issues / opportunities.
• Be responsible for providing analysis that informs and supports effective decision making.
• Apply various tools such as investment appraisal techniques to better inform decision making.
• Support the business in gathering evidence to assess the costs, benefits and risks of a wide range of delivery options when making commercial decisions, and provide advice which helps secure value-for-money.
• Build strong and positive relationships with budget holders and senior managers (notably Heads of Departments), providing the necessary assistance and professional advice to assist them with the financial aspects of their duties.
• Proactively provide improvements to procedures, applying sound judgement based on knowledge and experience.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a fully qualified Accountant.
• Have strong analytical skills, able to identify and interpret trends and improve financial forecasting.

About the role

You’ll lead the production of Annual Accounts for the Charity and its subsidiaries and oversee the wider Financial Accounting Team. You’ll also deputise for the Head of Financial Operations and contribute to Finance Transformation initiative.

As a subject matter expert, you will advise on technical accounting, tax, and internal controls and liaise with auditors and advisors.   Additionally, you will be responsible for driving process improvements through the effective use of data and digital tools across the organisation, with the goal of enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.

What you’ll do

• Accountable for the efficient and accurate production of the Annual Accounts, acting as a key contact to the Auditors and Governance Team 

• Continuously develop and keep up-to-date with current regulations to act as subject matter expert on tax, audit and technical accounting queries 

• Coach and provide expert advice to the Finance Management team

• Ensure that the charity meets internal and external reporting targets such as VAT returns, Gift Aid Returns, etc

What you’ll bring

• A CCAB qualified accountant with excellent technical financial accounting skills 

• Proven experience of audit or of leading the Annual Accounts production and producing consolidated statutory accounts and coordinating with auditors and other stakeholders

This role at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is a key role within the finance team and will help to guide the Senior Team through the provision and ownership of insightful management information.

Job Purpose

Preparing monthly management accounts and quarterly VAT returns for RCVS (the professional membership organisation or ‘College’) in accordance with relevant RCVS policies and UK legislation including UK GAAP and the Charities SORP.

Key Responsibilities

• To prepare accurate monthly cost centre and college wide management accounts for RCVS to an agreed timetable for varying audiences, including variance analysis, with appropriate relevant commentary.
• To review and discuss the cost centre management accounts with the Heads of Department throughout the year and to enhance reporting and understanding
• To prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and review them working with the Transactional Finance Lead.
• To work with the Head of Finance (HoF) preparing budgets, forecasts, financial monitoring and commentary
• To manage departmental cost allocations
• To maintain the chart of accounts and data integrity of the accounting system including deleting and archiving historic financial data as appropriate
• Provide support to the wider finance team
• Liaise with the Transactional Finance Lead in the monitoring of the monthly finance timetable and progression of tasks whilst raising any concerns with the HoF
• Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns (following HoF review) for RCVS in accordance with relevant RCVS policies and UK legislation.
• To support the preparation of the annual financial accounts and supporting workings, analysis and statements and to liaise as appropriate, with the auditors.
• To act as the Finance Risk Champion and to maintain the finance risk register
• To maintain the finance contract register
• To support an approach of continuous improvement to finance systems and processes.
• Monitor the application of the financial controls and to flag any compliance issues or risks
• To provide ad hoc support to the payroll function in the event of team member absence, to ensure continuity of critical payroll operations

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree level
• Finalist or fully qualified with a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)

• Strong background in management accounts
• Previous experience of preparing VAT returns and an understanding of partial-VAT claims.
• Previous experience of preparing financial statements under the Charities SORP

Personal Specification

• You will need to show;
• Experience Substantial experience in a finance or accounting role (including at management level) in a not-for profit organisation.

As Director of Finance you will lead on all financial aspects of the transtion as the Movement for Reform Judaism and Liberal Judaism merge to form a single unified organsation, Progressive Judaism.  This post will provide crucuial oversight during this period of change, laying foundations for strong financial governance and operational excellence in the new entity.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the CEO, we are looking for an experienced charity finance person, with accountancy qualifications.  (CIMA,CIPFA, CCAB, ACCA, AAT etc)

This a pivotal role and the post holder will be a member of the Trust’s Senior Management Team, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the Trust’s finances, working closely with CEO and Board.

The role would suit someone who is motivated by the Trust’s purpose and who is good at building relationships. 

We are a home working charity which is committed to flexible working.  We are open to considering a range of working patterns for this 0.6 FTE role.

Main responsibilities

· Alongside external accountant, manage the maintenance of the financial accounting system and monthly accounting processes (BACS runs, Expenses, Accruals, Prepayments, Deferred Income, Payroll etc)

· Review management accounts and liaise with accountants over variances.

· Lead on annual budget process

· Maintain and report on regular forecasts throughout the year

· Monitor individual programme funding to ensure all spend is within budget

· Lead on annual audit and creation of statutory accounts by external accountants.

· Distinguish between Restricted and Unrestricted funding to ensure compliance is met and classification is correct

· Support and advise budget holders in matters relating to the financial management of their departments

· Provide financial input to assist with new funding bids and reports to existing funders and partners.

· Ensure appropriate systems and internal financial controls are implemented and maintained

· Responsible for some areas of governance including insurance, Companies House and Charity Commission registration

· Secretariat for the Finance and Audit Committee

· Attendance to SMT, Board and Finance and Audit Committee meetings, including production of relevant reports

· Responsible for certain policy reviews including; Finance, Expenses, Reserves

· Provide financial information and analysis to the Board, SMT and the wider staffing team as and when required

· Ensure that compliance with relevant financial legislative and regulatory requirements including the Charity SORP are met.

· Manage reporting to Companies House, the Charities Commission

· Support the overall mission of the charity and occasionally carry out other duties as required by the CEO

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a friendly and reliable freelance bookkeeper or accountant to join our extended team and help keep our finances running smoothly. You’ll play a key behind-the-scenes role, working with the Senior Finance Manager to support our charity’s sustainability and activities. Student Minds is a medium sized charity (turnover approx £1m and 27 staff) and we need to make every penny work to support our student communities.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with purpose-led organisations, and who values flexibility, collaborative working and community impact.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.

• Process accounts payable and receivable.

• Support the invoicing process.

• Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts and company payment cards.

• Reconcile income reports.

What We’re Looking For - Minimum Criteria

• Proven experience (at least 2 years) as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, ideally with charities or community organisations

• Proficiency and experience in Xero accounting software.

• AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent.

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Knowledge of financial regulations and tax procedures.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office packages, with advanced knowledge of Excel

• Grade C and above / Grade 5 and above in GCSE Maths or equivalent.

About the Role

In this new role, you will contribute to enhancing the finance function within a growing and dynamic international charitable foundation. The role will enable you to work and continue your professional development across many aspects of the finance function. 

You will play an important part in our finance team’s further growth and professionalisation as Mission 44 extends its reach as a charity working in multiple countries. You will have the opportunity to gain further hands-on experience in driving our day-to-day finance processes, while also leading key projects to enhance our systems and put in place effective financial management of our new US entity. 

This role forms part of our Operations Team, currently comprising our Chief Operating Officer, our Head of Finance and Operations (HoFO), our Chief of Staff, our People and Culture Manager and our Operations Officer. A key part of your role will be acting as finance business partner to our other teams - impact, fundraising and communications - and demonstrating a customer service mindset in helping them achieve their objectives.

We’re looking for a finance professional, newly-qualified or working towards a chartered accountant qualification, wanting to develop their skills and career in a comprehensive finance role and contribute to our mission of helping young people thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities

Accounting (40%)

• Oversee day-to-day transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, for both the UK charity and the newly created US charity
• Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records of accounting evidence for all transactions are maintained
• Monitor cashflow
• Support the HoFO in the month-end process
• Oversee and control monthly payroll with external payroll provider
• Oversee and control VAT returns with external accountants
• Check monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Develop the purchase order system

Financial Planning & Analysis (35%)

• Support the HoFO in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
• Control all accounts payable in dialogue with budget holders
• Finance business partnering with budget holders and the Senior Leadership Team
• Control and account for the use of restricted funds, in alignment with donor requirements and with the Impact team
• Collaborate with the fundraising team to support forecasting and income tracking

Statutory accounts and audit (10%)

• Support the HoFO in the year-end processes
• Support the HoFO in the preparation of statutory accounts, supervising outsourced accountants
• Support audit requests
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, including charity-specific requirements

Operations (15%)

• Responsible for the financial management of grant payments, in coordination with Grant Managers and Grant Budget Holders
• Drive good practice in procurement and manage the relationship with suppliers
• Support the wider Ops team in ad hoc projects and activities

Skills and experience

Essential

• Newly qualified or part qualified, working towards a chartered accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Able to be hands-on in a small finance team
• Able to drive relationships with outsourced accountants
• Fluent in using spreadsheets for financial information

About this job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Income and Gift Aid Accountant Assistant to help us make sure every penny counts in our mission to stop MS. You'll play a key role in managing our income processing and supporting Gift Aid claims to help us maximise the value of every donation.

You'll ensure that donations recorded in our CRM system match the funds received, resolving discrepancies and supporting our income processes to run efficiently. Working closely with our Customer Services and Fundraising teams you’ll be at the heart of making sure our financial data is accurate and robust.

You’ll also assist with preparing and checking Gift Aid claims, helping us claim back vital extra funds at no additional cost to our supporters. Your detail driven approach will help us continue to build a strong and transparent foundation for everything we do.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a good understanding of financial accounting principles, strong Excel and IT skills, and a collaborative problem-solving approach. Excellent communication and organisational skills will also be essential as you work closely with teams across the organisation to ensure our income records are accurate and efficient.

This role will be a key strategic advisor and responsible for high-level planning conversations to WaterAid UKs largest income generating Directorate: Communications and Fundraising. As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for helping shape the strategic direction of fundraising team. This is a high-profile role, enabling Water Aid UK’s senior leadership to deliver and support the delivery of WaterAid’s ambitious programmatic activity.

The key duties of the Senior Finance Business Partner are as follows:

• Owning relationships with key senior stakeholders within the Communications and Fundraising Directorate.
• Regularly engaging on strategic long-term decision making and providing relevant financial data to key decision makers.
• Work with the directorate to build realistic and detailed financial plans.
• Own directorate specific timelines for delivering financial forecasts and budgets.
• Work with Head of Management Accounting to build a consolidated picture for WaterAid UKs performance for the Executive Director Team.
• Collaborate on the building and maintenance of automated reporting for directorate on PowerBI.
• Regularly engage with budget holders to ensure that spending and income is on track against plans.
• Ensure CRM data is complete and accurately reflected in the month end close position.
• Oversee the monthly recording of both unrestricted and restricted income streams.

The successful candidate will have:

• Completed a professional accounting qualification or be part-qualified with relevant professional experience.
• Experience of strategic partnering senior stakeholders (ideally at Executive Director level) along with senior leadership teams.
• Ability to analyse large quantities of data with a view to identifying trends and key drivers.
• Adaptability to build effective working relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues and work in a collaborative way.
