Summary
Innovation plays a key role in our drive to increase our Fundraising income and further our strategy to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. In partnership with the Senior Innovation and Development Manager, the Innovation Manager will work across Fundraising Teams to deliver a step change in our income growth in the next 12 months. Main Responsibilities
Across 12 months you will be working to embed our innovation strategy; driving forward new product development, showcasing a fresh approach to innovation, and supporting colleagues to embrace innovation. You will be responsible for consulting with Fundraising Teams to identify new opportunities to generate income and provide supporters with an amazing experience. You will lead on bringing new ideas to life by managing the end-to-end innovation process. From undertaking research to uncover insight into target audiences, to running workshop with colleagues to turn insight into amazing propositions. From delivering tests to evaluate new propositions, to working closely with delivery teams to launch new innovations into the market to drive income growth.
Ideal Candidate
Working with Teams from across Fundraising, you'll need to be experienced at engaging and influencing colleagues at all levels. You will be naturally curious, motivated to get under the skin of the charity sector and really understand what makes our supporters tick. While experience working in a dedicated innovation role isn't necessary, experience using tools to uncover insight, facilitate workshops, generate ideas, test propositions, and deliver compelling business cases is essential. Running end-to-end innovation sprints, you will be organised, proactive and confident at managing stakeholders. You'll be able to balance conflicting workstreams to deliver amazing new propositions at pace.

Our Direct Marketing Team is part of this department, and recruits and develops supporters. We are seeking a Direct Marketing Officer to join this team to manage and deliver a series of high standard direct marketing campaigns across our Regular Giving programme. This individual will be recruiting, retaining and upgrading regular donors to generate income through a variety of direct marketing methods such as direct dialogue, DRTV, digital, and direct mail. They will be encouraging regular monthly gifts or support via one of our main products such as general Regular Giving and Sponsorship, our Lottery, Value Exchange programme and other methods of committed giving as they arise.

The role
This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. All activities will be undertaken with a priority to conserve the natural spaces we oversee, and to ensure that income generated at each site is reinvested back into the charity/site where it was raised.
As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and complementary portfolio, including income generation, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications, event and license management, volunteer and engagement programmes, and strategic partnerships. They will lead a newly created team with diverse and complementary roles, fill remaining team vacancies, and create a cohesive approach and narrative. As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, they will work closely with colleagues and the Superintendent to create and implement new opportunities to further improve these four iconic green spaces.

We are looking for a Bid Manager and Writer to join our Bid Team, which is part of the wider Development, Marketing, and Communications Department! You will support the delivery of effective business development strategies and activities to achieve organisational growth and to enhance our existing services!

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday, based in our central office in Islington, with flexible work from home available. You will also be expected to travel across London and the South East, as well as our other locations to attend market engagement and bid related activities and attend regular service visits.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bid Writing and Management
- Lead in all elements of the bidding process which includes writing competitive bids within strict deadlines.
- Identify, research, and communicate opportunities and needs across the organisation, working proactively with colleagues at all levels to identify fundable initiatives.
- Host internal and external briefings and liaise with relevant teams to develop compelling bids which are fit for purpose, realistic, and aligned with organisational needs and aims.
- Lead the development of specific bid responses which includes the structure, content, and responses. Ensure tenders are submitted on time and achieve the highest scores by the evaluator(s).
- Develop and manage an internal network of subject matter experts and bring them into the development and writing process as required.
- Support colleagues in developing presentations, and briefings.
Partnership Building
- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships internally throughout the organisation and externally with external partners and organisations.
- Represent Social Interest Group and our subsidiaries in market engagement and events online and in-person and support with all aspects of enhancing and developing our brand.
Organisational Growth
- Identify priorities from strategy and business plans, translating growth plans into effective practices aligned to SIG’s mission, vision, and values.
- Collect and share information relevant to teams involved in Mobilisations and TUPE’s for won bids. Ensure communication is clear, and concise, providing a logical strategy and direction to follow to ensure a smooth transition for new contracts.
Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.
KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this includes a track record of securing new bids and/or retaining existing contracts
- Previous experience in bid/proposal writing, reviewing, and editing
- IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, experience in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability and willingness to travel and attend market engagement events and to visit services to gain greater understanding of what SIG offers and to inform teams of relevant tender responses
- Ability to create and write engaging content, with proofreading skills
- Proven ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral and ability to build relationships
- Ability to review large amounts of information and research materials to inform model development and shape tender responses
- Proficiency in navigating tender portals
What we would like, but not essential:
- Previous experience managing the full bidding process end to end from pre market engagement and contract notification, through to award
- Previous experience working in the same or similar sector

The role
The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for press liaison, pitching in case studies and news stories about our research to the national press, building relationships with our celebrity patrons and families and creating content for our social media channels. A key part of the role is supporting the fundraising campaigns by helping to draft relevant copy for email campaigns and calls-to-action on social media.
The charity has a small team, so everyone helps with thanking and banking, database management and administrative tasks.
