Job summary
Reporting to the head of growth and sitting within the engagement team you will:
- recruit volunteers by promoting Re-engage’s services,
- develop effective relationships with new and existing referrers such as social prescribers and community link workers

Engagement officer tasks and requirements
- Growing and developing our network of referral partners, including social prescribers and link workers, ensuring that Re-engage's work is promoted to people aged 75 who are experiencing social isolation and loneliness.
- Partnering with communities to create regular, volunteer led, social gatherings for people aged 75
- Utilise Re-engage's CRM (OPUS) to inform evidence-based, data-driven decision-making to develop effective engagement plans.
- Working closely with the service delivery team ensuring that the right people are recruited and engaged into the right roles, in the right place, and at the right times.
- Collaborating with the communications team ensuring the widest possible publicity for the region’s needs through media and social media opportunities, local press, radio, TV, and online forums.
- Liaising closely with the fundraising team delivering against recruitment targets linked to grants.
- Working with the fundraising team on proposals and grant applications using regional knowledge, identifying local need, and collecting case studies.
- Identifying speaking and presenting opportunities ensuring that Re-engage's work is promoted to referrers.
- Working effectively as part of a regional team, maintaining, and growing all Re-engage services.

The Hospice has invested in digital development. The Director of Media and Digital income oversees income to the value of £400k with a trajectory for growth. This includes all appeals, promotion of established products like legacy giving and matched funding programmes. The legacy pipeline was redesigned in 2024 with an award winning film “I will 1%” inspired by the work of Richard Ratcliffe. The Hospice is one of over 100 Hospices working with Hospice UK to promote legacy funding at a national and local level with a combined campaign. Investment for the future means The Hospice has a centrally managed people and systems team, this includes management of our CRM (Donify), enabling the Executive Team report on KPIs with internally triangulated data for better decision-making. The Hospice is also working with Finegreen to recruit an interim Head of Philanthropy to review the approach to philanthropy to date and make clear recommendations. A third party will deliver market research to update intelligence on current and potential markets for supporters. As our Director of Fundraising, you will be an innovative strategic leader, a people person who combines humanity with data driven decision-making. As part of the strategy of the Hospice your business case development will deliver an additional ≥£1m by 2028, in a trajectory for growth. We are praying for a talented Director of Fundraising and Supporter Partnerships to join our Leadership Team. You will be inheriting a skilled and diverse team raising income from individuals, legacies, trusts and foundations, corporates and major donors with the support from a new CRM system, to fulfil your responsibilities.
- Salary: £73,000 depending on experience + 13.8% employer contribution to pension, 30 days holiday plus Bank Holidays and 3 days ex-gracia during Christmas and New year + other benefits.
- Location: London City Mission will carefully consider flexible working patterns where possible, though at least 2 days a week presence at Nasmith House, 175 Tower Bridge Road will be necessary.

Main Purpose of the Post
To lead the strategic planning, development, and delivery of Learning through Landscapes’ (LtL) communications and marketing activities. This role will ensure effective communication with key audiences, grow engagement, and strengthen the LtL brand, positioning the organisation as the leading voice in outdoor learning and play. The Strategic Communications Lead will oversee all communications activities, manage a growing team including the Digital Marketing & Operations Manager, and ensure alignment with organisational goals and the communications strategy.
Specific Duties
Strategic Leadership
• Lead the development and implementation of the LtL communications strategy in line with organisational objectives.
• Align communication efforts with the key goals of growing audience engagement, generating leads, and enhancing the charity’s visibility and credibility.
• Act as a brand guardian, ensuring all communications adhere to LtL’s brand guidelines and key messaging.
Team Management
• Line-manage the growing Communications team, including the Digital Marketing & Operations Manager, providing guidance, support, and oversight of their responsibilities, including social media, website, and email marketing activities.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the communications team, and work closely with other departments to align communications with organisational priorities.
• Provide regular performance reviews and professional development opportunities for direct reports.
Campaigns and Content Development
• Plan and oversee the creation of compelling and engaging content for digital and traditional media platforms, ensuring alignment with key messaging.
• Work with the Digital Marketing & Operations Manager to deliver multichannel marketing campaigns, including organic and paid campaigns across platforms such as social media, Google Ads, and email.
• Lead on the development of innovative approaches to audience engagement, including storytelling, case studies, and evidence-led communications.
• Lead the delivery of the Outdoor Classroom Day campaign, including coordinating media interest, collaborating with global NGOs and internal teams on campaign themes, and managing data collection, evaluation, and related communications.
External and Internal Communications
• Serve as the first point of media contact for LtL, building relationships with journalists, influencers, and partners to amplify LtL’s reach.
• Advise and support internal teams on communication best practices, integrating communications planning into the early stages of project development.
• Collaborate with partner organisations to deliver cohesive and impactful communications plans for joint projects.
• Strengthen internal communication processes to ensure organisational cohesion and awareness of communications initiatives.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Improve systems for measuring and reporting communications impact, including audience engagement, conversion rates, and campaign effectiveness.
• Provide regular reports to senior management, using data to demonstrate progress and inform future strategies.
• Conduct ongoing analysis of audience behaviours and preferences to refine communication efforts.
General Responsibilities
• Stay informed on trends in digital marketing, communications, and education to keep LtL’s approaches current and impactful.
• Support organisational goals by contributing to cross-functional projects and initiatives.
• Ensure all communications comply with GDPR and safeguarding policies.
• Represent LtL at relevant external events and networks as needed.
What you’ll need:
• Experience of leading communications or marketing at a strategic level, preferably in the charitable or education sectors
• Proven ability to develop and implement multi-channel communications strategies that grow engagement and support organisational goals
• Experience of managing staff, fostering collaboration, and supporting professional development within a communications team
• Strong track record in campaign planning and delivery, including digital marketing, content creation, and media engagement
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling
• Computer literate with experience using digital marketing tools and platforms such as email marketing systems, social media scheduling tools, and content management systems
• Strong understanding of branding and the importance of consistent messaging
• Confident using data to evaluate performance and inform strategy

Your role
You will be responsible for the management, development and delivery of marketing and communications to support CWNN’s fundraising strategy. You’ll work alongside our Development Manager to create compelling fundraising campaigns, content and communications, growing engagement from individuals, companies, community fundraisers and potential funders while simultaneously raising our profile among stakeholders through strategic communications and marketing plans. This work includes:

Support our Development Manager to create and deliver impactful and innovative fundraising strategies including our public appeals, challenge events and local fundraising campaigns.

Developing and implementing communications strategies to promote CWNN’s work, managing our social media platforms and external comms to ensure they reflect our strategic goals and values.
