The role

We’re looking for a high performing, creative and driven Digital Manager to work in our communications and marketing department on a temporary basis, to drive all areas of Family Fund’s digital work.  You’ll develop digital strategies and campaigns that improve conversion with our key audiences, raise vital income and boost brand profile.  You’ll also provide expert advice on the evolution of our digital channels and communications, to ensure we keep pace with fast-changing digital developments. 

The person we’re looking for 

To be considered for this role you’ll need to evidence significant experience managing and improving the performance of digital channels (including social media, e-marketing and websites) using analytics to inform decision-making. You should have specialist knowledge of digital across a range of techniques and have experience in managing paid-for digital advertising budgets and campaigns. With experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) and of platform analytics tools including Google Analytics, Facebook and X, you should have a sound understanding of an integrated approach to digital marketing and knowledge of data protection best practice and legislation.

A confident communicator with strong analytical, literacy and numeracy skills, you’ll be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team. Organised and hard-working, you’ll be a pro-active self-starter that can hit the ground running and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve growth objectives for our national charity brand.

What the job involves

This is a unique chance to play a pivotal role in driving impactful external communication strategies that support High Value, Philanthropy and Partnerships teams. As a key player in the Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand team, you’ll enable the integration of high value fundraising activities into wider organisational communications, inspiring action to fund life-saving initiatives that help men navigate prostate cancer.

Supporting the Head of Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand and our senior Business Partner in embedding and developing our business partnering model. A major part of the role will be enabling the integration of High Value Fundraising activity into the wider communications plan to enhance results from our communications.

You’ll work closely with our Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships and Appeal teams to help plan and deliver inspiring communications that support our fundraising strategy. From pitching proposals and event promotion to major appeal campaigns, you’ll help build strong relationships with major donors and partners. You’ll also make sure high value fundraising activity is joined up with our wider communications and campaigns to grow fundraising revenue, support our community and improve outcomes for all men affected by and at risk of prostate cancer.

Please note this role is known internally as Communications Business Partner (High Value Fundraising).

Tearfund's Global Fundraising and Communications Group are looking for an experienced and effective Senior Marketing Executive to join their Church and Supporter Engagement team.

ShelterBox is looking for someone with experience managing a digital team, with an up-to-date understanding of digital channels and delivering digital campaigns and advertising. You are passionate about creating and growing high-quality online experiences.

Paid media is an area of strategic growth, so experience of managing digital ads and always on advertising is essential, as well as experience of working with agencies.

You are experienced in taking a data and evidence-based approach, testing, gathering insights and driving improvements that improve user experience and conversion rates.

This role is full of variety, working collaboratively with other teams to deliver a range of digital projects. You will join a friendly and vibrant Fundraising & Communications department in our mission to make ShelterBox a household name and raise money to fund emergency shelter after disaster.

Job Description

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Digital marketing and strategy

• Oversee the delivery of the digital strategy.
• Alongside fundraising colleagues, the Social & Paid Advertising Manager, and an external agency, play an active role in the strategic priority project to upscale digital ads and performance marketing to drive income.
• Oversee the social media for organic reach and engagement and developing fresh approaches as algorithms change.
• Oversee the delivery of our email marketing, increasing email engagement, boosting income, and improving retention.
• Oversee the website, ensuring all web pages are written for digital audiences and fully optimised for search.
• Oversee planning for cohesive integrated campaigns that roll out across our channels.
• Provide analysis and monitoring of digital activity, using data and analytics to inform future campaigns and content strategy.
• Ensure budget is allocated efficiently and delivering value.
• Ensure your team are reviewing new technologies and platforms, keeping the department informed of developments in digital marketing, and encourage the digital team to seek out and identify new trends.

Sharing knowledge and best practice

• Play an active role in the growth of paid digital marketing.
• Provide quality control across web, email and social - coaching your team on copy, tone of voice and visual aspects of our digital work.
• Manage relationships with third-party digital agencies and suppliers.
• Build positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across FundComms department.
• Educate and encourage other staff members on the use of digital best practice and promote its use within the charity.

Team management

• Three direct reports: an Email Marketing Officer and Social Media & Paid Advertising Manager and Website Manager - to deliver quality digital activities and channels.
• Manage and coach team to produce high quality digital content that's on-brand designed to increase reach and engagement with target audiences.
• Develop direct reports through reviews, setting objectives and identifying training where needed.
• Motivate team members to deliver excellence in everything they do.

Role Purpose

Winston’s Wish is a digital first organisation leading the way in Digital Transformation across the Bereavement sector. This role is new and exciting and will play a vital part in helping Winston’s Wish turn up the dial across our high value fundraising.

As Philanthropy Manager you will be responsible for growing income from major donors and Trusts and Foundations through excellent donor stewardship. Leading a team of committed Trust fundraisers, you will focus on identifying prospective individual donors and foundations and develop lasting relationships with them. You will also support the management of relationships with existing donors, ensuring all donors have an excellent experience of supporting Winston’s Wish and understand the impact of their support on the lives of grieving children.

Main Responsibilities

Leadership

• To lead and inspire the Philanthropy team fostering a collaborative and high culture that delivers against income and objectives.
• Provide clear and supportive leadership that motivates staff to achieve, develop and grow in their roles.
• Undertake quarterly reviews for all direct reports.

Philanthropy Fundraising

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-value donors, ensuring effective solicitation, stewardship, and follow-up to secure significant contributions (six-figure gifts).
• Build and maintain a portfolio of Trust & Grants supporters. Responsible for researching, approaching and developing compelling applications with a focus on ensuring Trusts & Grants provide a long-term, diverse and sustainable income stream.
• Lead the development and stewardship of the Philanthropy board to identify and secure transformational (6-7 figure) gifts and the development of the Business development Board to open opportunities with Corporate Partners.
• Write and design a compelling case for support that is tailored to our High Value audiences.
• Lead on planning and delivering successful high value cultivation events.
• Represent Winston’s Wish at fundraising events and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Strategy, Planning and reporting

•  You will work alongside the Director of Income Generation to support the development and implementation of a new Philanthropy strategy covering development of a prospect pipeline, building a culture of peer referrals, annual targets and personalised engagement plans.
• Lead on developing and delivering effective stewardship journeys and cultivation plans.
• Produce regular reports on fundraising activity, analysing performance against targets, and identifying areas for improvement and growth.

• Undertake research and make use of tools to identify potential High Value partners.
