We’re a Founder-led charity working to solve learn-to-swim for disabled children - and we aim to do that in the next ten years.
We’ve grown our impact 5x in the past three years and now raise over £1m in unrestricted income annually through our swim events. The role

We’re looking for a strategic, creative Head of Fundraising to lead our next phase of growth.
Your first focus will be stewarding our 3,000 fundraisers - overseeing segmented email journeys, managing a £40k prizing fund, and improving supporter care through deeper, more personal touchpoints. That might mean calls, events, or just finding ways to help people feel more connected to their impact.
Beyond that, you'll help us develop and test new income streams - from matched giving and regular giving, to sponsorships, repeat fundraising, and post-event conversion. You'll also play a key role in evolving our Challenge Events portfolio across in-person, virtual, and blended formats.
This role requires someone with a strong track record in fundraising growth, a test-and-learn mindset, and the ambition to build something big.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy Development and Implementation
- Develop and execute a fundraising strategy aligned with the charity's objectives.
- Identify and cultivate new fundraising opportunities to diversify income streams.
- Defining our fundraising growth strategies, specifically around our event series.
Community and Events Fundraising
- Oversee the planning and execution of community fundraising initiatives, specifically with our event fundraisers.
- Engage and mobilise volunteers and supporters for fundraising activities.
Fundraiser Care
- Customer Lifetime value / retention / regular giving.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, ensuring effective stewardship.
- Develop and implement donor retention strategies to increase long-term support and regular giving.
Trusts and Foundations
- Working closely with our Head of Programmes to oversee our bids process, working with specialists and utilising learnings from previous years.
- Deepen strong relationships with grant-making bodies and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Corporate Partnerships
- Manage and develop corporate partnerships and event sponsorships.
- Develop tailored proposals and pitches to attract corporate support.
Team Leadership
- Lead, inspire, and manage a small fundraising team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members for both fundraising and marketing.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Track and report on fundraising performance against targets.
- Provide regular updates to the Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in a senior fundraising role.
- Proven experience working on fundraising events and event fundraising.
- Demonstrable success in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.
- Strong track record of securing major gifts, grant funding and/or corporate partnerships.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a structured programme of enjoyable, recreational, high-quality activities to meet the needs of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities who attend Short Breaks clubs.

Who we are
The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) is an independent charity established in 1967. For over 57 years, we have promoted our vision of a society in which people can live safely and are treated with equal dignity and respect, regardless of where they are from or how they came to the UK. To achieve this, we provide legal advice, representation and holistic support to migrants experiencing injustice, poverty, and discrimination; we undertake parliamentary advocacy and expert policy analysis; we speak out and challenge damaging and discriminatory media narratives about immigration; we use law as a tool of resistance; we work in solidarity with migrants and grassroots groups, and we build campaigns that work towards a fairer approach in immigration and asylum law and policy. We root all aspects of our work in humanity, compassion, anti-oppression and anti-racist values, taking an approach that radically challenges the way that things are to build a new and better world for migrants.
Role purpose
This is a new role, where the director will bring together the work of the Advocacy and the Communications teams to lead JCWI's campaigns. The Director leads JCWI’s campaigns and community organising; policy and parliamentary advocacy; working in alignment with directly impacted communities and partners within and beyond the migration sector. The Director builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensures the organisation’s collective expertise influences political debates and the public narrative on migrants’ rights and racial justice.
The role provides strategic leadership for JCWI’s campaigns to drive forward positive change for migrant rights in an increasingly hostile political climate, and supports a wide range of work building campaigns, coalitions and networks to advance migrant justice, ensuring that JCWI is a generous and collaborative partner, working in solidarity with all groups, including grassroots and community groups, unions, faith groups and NGOs.
The Director provides line management and strategic leadership to the Advocacy and Communications Team, overseeing the direction of the team, overseeing the teams' work and ensuring close, collaborative working relationships across all teams.
The Director is a lead spokesperson for the organisation, representing JCWI and our values at public forums, in the media and within coalitions. They will set the narrative and agenda for public discourse on migrant rights and border reform, lead the organisation’s long-term digital outreach and engagement work and support the team to create compelling and accessible content, driving traffic to our digital channels and converting this into successful supporter and donor recruitment and engagement strategies. They maintain the visibility of JCWI and its messages and protect & promote JCWI’s reputation as a leading voice in the discourse on migration, rights, and racial justice in the UK.

- Represent JCWI at meetings and events with key decision makers, including parliamentarians, policymakers and other organisations in the sector, to make the case for policy change, influence narratives, and hold those in power to account in solidarity with communities at the sharpest end of UK immigration controls
- Work closely with the Legal Directors and wider team to ensure our casework and outreach informs JCWI’s advocacy work, and to together identify opportunities for public-interest litigation relevant to JCWI’s campaign priorities

What the job involves
We’re looking for a Risk Information Officer to join our Health Services, Equity and Improvement Directorate, to sit within the Clinical Services team (consisting of the Specialist Nurse service and Risk Information Service). We deliver a wide range of high-quality services directly to anyone affected by prostate cancer or prostate problems, as well as supporting a range of charity-wide activity.
As Risk Information Officer, you’ll deliver the charity’s Risk Information Service, providing information and support to men at risk of prostate cancer, and their loved ones, via the telephone, email and social media. This is an exciting time to join the team as we anticipate a decision from the National Screening Committee on a prostate cancer screening programme in autumn 2025.
This is a non-clinical role, but you’ll discuss service users’ risk of prostate cancer along the lines of the predominant risk factors (age, ethnicity, family history and BRCA gene status). You’ll also be able to help men make an informed decision about PSA testing by discussing the test’s advantages and limitations and informing them how to access a PSA blood test through their GP. You’ll work closely with the Specialist Nurses to ensure people who need more complex clinical information are supported.
You’ll also discuss the charity’s upcoming TRANSFORM trial and how Prostate Cancer UK is working hard to improve the current landscape and reduce some of the barriers men face around prostate cancer.
You’ll play a key role in developing the Risk Information Service, contributing to conversations and decisions around how to adjust and improve it. You’ll also report back on your work, to help the charity develop its broader understanding of information and support needs when it comes to prostate cancer risk and the PSA blood test.
Reporting into the Clinical Services Senior Officer, you’ll have close and regular contact with assigned Specialist Nurses so that you feel at ease in sharing prostate cancer related information with callers, and in maintaining the boundaries and scope of the service day-to-day. This is a fixed term role until the end of October 2026 covering an internal secondment.
What we want from you
You’ll be a compassionate and resilient communicator; you may be speaking to callers who may be anxious about their risk of prostate cancer. You’ll be a great listener, hearing callers’ concerns and offering a supportive and empathetic response. Although this is a non-clinical role, a strong understanding of the UK healthcare system and a good working knowledge of urology (for example, an understanding of prostate cancer and the PSA blood test) would be an advantage.
You’ll be comfortable in handling more complex conversations, but with the self-awareness to recognise your limitations in offering support and recognising clear boundaries of guidance being provided and be able to direct to our Specialist Nurses when needed.
Experience in using a CRM system will be advantageous in this role and any experience with a helpline or providing support or information over the phone will be beneficial.

The Purpose of the Role
As Director of Communications, UK, you lead IRC UK’s core communications strategy with the objectives of growing our profile, influencing policy, driving income, and building our reputation. A key aspect of the role will be to continue growing DIVA’s network of partners, corporate sponsors, and donors. The ED will work with the Board of Trustees to drive the future strategy and lead a small editorial and design team.
Core Responsibilities
·Act as the public face of DIVA, and support the wider team (including Board, Patrons, and colleagues) to represent DIVA to key audiences.
·Work with the Board to set and deliver the strategy for DIVA Charitable Trust and be accountable for ensuring its implementation and the appropriate governance of the charity.
·Lead on fundraising for DIVA Charitable Trust, growing our sponsorship and partnership income and establishing new charitable donation and grant-based funding streams.
·Oversee the planning and delivery of Lesbian Visibility Week, continuing to grow its global reach, and work with the team to develop new flagship projects.
·Oversee the delivery of an engaging, high quality and creative magazine in both print and digital formats, and develop a marketing strategy to increase magazine sales
·Manage the DIVA team and oversee operations at DIVA Charitable Trust, including leading on the financial strategy and business plan.

Job Purpose
As Director of Partnerships, you will:
- Lead on partnerships fundraising, including major donors, trusts & foundations, and corporates with a focus on securing six-figure multi-year agreements to significantly grow funds raised in this area from £1.6 million to £4.5 million by FY30, in line with Operation Smile UK’s multi-year strategy.
- Foster and facilitate collaboration across different departments within OSUK.
- Ensure business as usual is achieved in line with operational plans, while also exploring and implementing innovative initiatives and campaigns to ensure the future success of partnerships' fundraising.
- Represent OSUK at a leadership level, building relationships with industry peers and peers within the Operation Smile global team to ensure best practice across all areas.
Key Responsibilities
Philanthropy Leadership
- Leads strategy, planning and operation of the major gift, trusts & foundations and corporate giving channels.
- Develops annual business plans and budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and Executive Team.
- Strategically identifies and qualifies potential new donors to grow the prospect pipeline.
- Prepares development communications: solicitation and acknowledgement letters; case statements and proposals; stewardship reports; briefing notes; gift agreements.
- Identifies, cultivates, and solicits major gift commitments from high-net-worth individuals
- Monitors activity of the team, ensuring that benchmarks are achieved, including submission of solicitations, donor contacts and meetings, confirmations of donations, and other performance indicators as related to the team checking their portfolio.
- Provides the organisation with the interpretation of market trends and emerging issues that could impact the organisation’s partnerships fundraising stream.
- Ensures the effective collection of donor information and tracking of points of contact in accordance with best practices; provides and presents statistical analysis to senior leaders.
- Leads on data mining, prospect research, and ensuring the quality of data as it relates to the donors they work with.
- Develops and manages relationships within their own portfolio, personally conducting cultivation visits, solicitation calls and stewardship activities as required.
- Effectively manages fundraising resources and practices ethical fundraising.
HR Management
- Leads, mentors, and manages a team; regular meetings to provide direction, coaching and delegation to the partnerships team.
Financial Management
- Manages and implements approved business plans, ensuring that the annual revenue objectives and budget are met or exceeded, and oversight of the partnership’s departmental budgets.
- Provides leadership in the delivery of statistical analysis, projections, and detailed reports on partnerships fundraising goals and performance that may be used to contribute to the development of internal budgets.
Partnership Sustainability
- Develops donor relationships by researching, sourcing, cultivating, and stewarding existing and potential partners.
- Works to broaden sources of revenue, including working with corporate partners in various industries.
- Develops and implements a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors and corporate partners.
- Contributes innovative ideas to the development of new strategic partnerships and alternative revenue streams.
Other
- Other duties as assigned by the ED.
- Meetings with OSI and partner countries.
- Board reports/board meetings as required.
