BACKGROUND

Ashiana is a ‘by and for’ women's led BME VAWG service with 30 years’ experience in delivering a holistic range of specialist services to South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women affected by VAWG.

OUR SERVICES

Ashiana runs three refuges with a total of 29 bedspaces; specifically for women aged 16-35 fleeing forced marriage. This multi award winning project is the only service of its kind in the UK and is highly innovative in terms of addressing an area of significant need not met in other refuge provision. Within these refuges we designate a number of bedspaces for women with no recourse to public funds. We offer an advice and support service to women and girls who are experiencing VAWG, enabling them to make informed decisions and exit violent relationships. We provide a legal service supporting women with no recourse to public funds to help resolve their immigration status.

Counselling is offered for women and girls affected by VAWG. The counselling service works from an integrative stance, with the focus of providing a holistic service whereby we also work alongside other services and provide specialist domestic violence group work. The emphasis of therapeutic work with our clients is from a trauma informed model.

We also deliver an education programme for young people in secondary schools in East London aimed at preventing domestic violence and enabling young people experiencing domestic violence to access appropriate services. The prevention service includes delivering a whole school approach in schools to young people as well as group work to women and girls across North East London boroughs as well as community engagement activities and delivery. We deliver a range of awareness raising workshops for young people in the community and training on domestic violence for professionals in the voluntary and statutory sector.

PRIMARY TASK

The post is instrumental in overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive package of services and care for women in our refuges. To provide a safe environment and a service that is appropriate to the needs of young BME women particularly those from South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern communities and to support ex-clients following resettlement.

The post holder will have a caseload of clients and be responsible for providing advice, advocacy, casework and support to women and girls, advocating on behalf of these women and making others aware of their particular needs. The post-holder is required to demonstrate sensitivity and an awareness of the culture and needs of  minoritised communities in all aspects of their duties and responsibilities.

This includes setting federation wide safeguarding policies and procedures, providing safeguarding training, case management, management of the Safeguarding Focal Point Network, and sector safeguarding engagement.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Safeguarding Team as our Senior Global Safeguarding Specialist reporting to the Global Safeguarding Director. This is a senior role in the team and will play a key part in managing and supervising safeguarding cases and investigations, as well as providing proactive support and guidance to Members and Country Programmes on a range of safeguarding topics. The role involves a considerable about of proactive prevention work such as designing and facilitating training and resources for a range of audiences (Boards, staff groups, volunteers, communities). The role involves organisation and facilitation of large-scale events and management of the Safeguarding Focal Point Network. This role supports the Global Safeguarding Director in implementing safeguarding policies and standards and works closely to deliver core safeguarding projects across the federation. The team is supported by a Global Safeguarding Co-Ordinator for whom this role line manages, a Global Safeguarding Adviser and a Community Safeguarding Engagement Adviser.

In this role you’ll also: 

• Lead and Co-lead safeguarding support country programme / member visits.
• Maintain and update core safeguarding policies and standards as and when required.
• Actively engage with external safeguarding networks to ensure WaterAid continues to contribute to improve sector safeguarding standards and engages in relevant sector initiatives.
• Monitor compliance with global safeguarding standards in relation to core performance indicators.
• Lead on planning and developing, training resources such as webinars, videos, and guidance documents for multiple audiences.
• Be available on call throughout the year and during events as designated to ensure safeguarding advice and support can be accessed across the Global Safeguarding Team 24/7
• Cover for the Global Safeguarding Director in their absence.

Requirements

To be successful, you’ll need: 

• Proven track record of working in a safeguarding environment with significant case management experience of at least 5 years.
• Significant experience in conducting safeguarding investigations and risk-based interviewing.
• Experience of report writing skills, including risk assessments and risk management report writing.
• Technical knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and protection principles and standards.
• Understanding and knowledge of applying a trauma survivor centred approach
• Experience of working with vulnerable groups such as young people and vulnerable communities.
• Knowledge of UK and globally relevant safeguarding legislation and guidance.
• Experience of working in challenging, face paced, and complex environments.
• Experience of safeguarding policy design and implementation.
• To be able to confidentiality communicate in English both written and spoken.
• Commitment to WaterAid’s values of respect, accountability, courage, collaboration, integrity and innovation and a working style that reflects these.
• You must be available to travel internationally for an event between 04- 11 October 2025.

This new role is an exciting opportunity to further develop robust and proportionate approaches to managing security and travel risk across our global operations. The postholder will act as the expert within the organisation on this topic, developing and implementing new tools globally to support colleagues in managing security and risk as our programme portfolio grows. As an HR Advisor, you'll deliver high-quality, values-led advice and guidance to employees, managers, and senior leaders. Key Responsibilities

• Ensure GDPR compliance and maintain high standards of data entry and record-keeping.
• Participate in forums, team meetings, and continuous improvement activities.

About the role:

As a Senior, you will provide advocacy and support to those affected by the impact of crime.

You will work with people who have experienced or witnessed crime and you will be the single point of contact for them.

You will work with other agencies to provide a service that supports the individual through the criminal justice system, or works with them whether they decide to report the crime or not.

As an IVA, you will;

• Receive incoming referrals from a range of sources including the police, other agencies and individuals themselves
• Assess needs and risks, and agree action plans
• Work on case management systems to update case notes, manage and record information
• Give up to date and consistent information about the criminal justice system process
• Liaise with other agencies where required to provide advocacy for the service user, work in a multi-agency set up, give and receive information with consent
• Support the person and their wider family
• Work with criminal justice system agencies to ensure a trauma informed and victim friendly response
• Promote the service at events and meetings where directed or required
• Ensure that you are aware of and up to date with safeguarding and data policy and processes and able to identify where there are risks

You will need:

• to be a confident, compassionate & empathic person who can work well under pressure
• to be able to speak with people in a trauma informed way
• to be composed, empathic & able to quickly assess situations
• to live within North Yorkshire, or a reasonable distance from North Yorkshire, to allow you to fulfil the needs of our service and victims in line with our Outreadh program
• to be a competent IT user, able to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office

Operating within the Management Accounting team, the postholder will act as a Senior Management Accountant for the business area for which they are made responsible. Working directly with budget holders, Heads of Department and Directors, they will manage all aspects of their management accounting and financial planning services providing incisive, value-add financial support and analysis which facilitates effective decision making.

The role:

• Be responsible for the provision of timely, accurate, relevant management information to all levels of management within assigned Directorates, regularly reviewing this information with the senior management teams. This will include provision of monthly reports, critical review of results, value-add analysis, explanation of variances and early identification of potential issues / opportunities.
• Be responsible for providing analysis that informs and supports effective decision making.
• Apply various tools such as investment appraisal techniques to better inform decision making.
• Support the business in gathering evidence to assess the costs, benefits and risks of a wide range of delivery options when making commercial decisions, and provide advice which helps secure value-for-money.

We are looking for a self-motivated and results driven Head of Finance and Administration to join World Horse Welfare in a newly created role reporting to the Director of Finance, IT & Administration, line managing three members of the Finance and Administration team.

In this vital role, you will ensure strong financial controls across all areas of the charity, manage income and expenditure, and lead on statutory accounts preparation, payroll, VAT, pensions, and tax compliance. As a key business partner, you will work closely with budget holders of all levels, providing data and analysis on the performance of charity operations, including the four Visitor Centres, to ensure excellent financial foresight and planning, as well as enabling the senior leadership team to make timely strategic decisions. You’ll also oversee governance responsibilities such as annual statutory filings, insurance, fleet management and reporting on the annual carbon footprint.

We are looking for a qualified accountant who has experience of charity finance at a similar level, an in depth understanding of charity VAT and experience running in-house payroll processes. You will have the ability to explain financial information and produce financial reports for a wide variety of audiences. High level of IT skills particularly around data manipulation and Microsoft Excel is essential. As a line manager to three members of staff, you’ll have previous experience in managing a team in a supportive and effective manner. Experience of a retail environment, familiarity with fundraising methods and regulations, and experience of finance system implementation is highly desirable.

The role is based in Norfolk and is currently a hybrid split of 2 days in our head office in Snetterton and 3 days at home. You may be required to attend events around the UK so the ability to travel occasionally is necessary.
