The Role

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that strengthens the capacity of the Global South to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that the Global South should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions. The initiative has been working in different forms for over a decade, and our work receives worldwide coverage and widespread acclaim. 

This is a unique opportunity to inform conversations on SRM in Africa. Rather than lobbying for outcomes, Degrees aims to support informed, independent policymaking by fostering connections between researchers and policymakers and strengthening institutional expertise. Degrees promotes regional research, creates spaces for policy-science dialogue, and supports the dissemination of Global South research.

Responsibilities

The Policy and Engagement Manager, Africa will strengthen the voice of the Global South in discussions and potential negotiations on SRM research and governance with relevance to Africa by connecting experts to policy processes. Accordingly, the successful candidate will: 

• Identify and engage key policy actors (e.g. national delegates and legislators, scientific advisors, intergovernmental officials) in Africa, connecting them to local SRM experts and providing them with information, where appropriate, while remaining neutral regarding the potential use and governance of SRM;
• Work with SRM researchers from the region to support the ongoing development of a coordinated community of experts; 
• Build informal and formal partnerships with like-minded organisations, helping to inform discussions and counter misinformation about climate and SRM.
• Share expertise and experience gained from Africa with staff and researchers and participate, as appropriate, in activities in Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean to gain similar expertise;
• Identify the most impactful international forums and regional SRM discussions, and work to connect local experts into these;

Records Manager & Archivist

The duties within this unique role will be shared across the main London offices of the Methodist Church in Britain and United Reformed Church. The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified and experienced records and archives management professional, who is confident to work across our different sites and systems. You will be a knowledgeable manager of analogue and digital records and archives.  Some familiarity with Church structures and record keeping would be an advantage.

You will need to be able to advise the staff teams for both Churches on records management strategy and practice and support them in the implementation of electronic records management systems (ERMS). You will also be able to undertake collections management tasks such as appraisal, condition assessments, basic cleaning and re-packaging and cataloguing.

You will need to be able to liaise effectively with the archive services where our collections are deposited, and work with our voluntary heritage committees and archival advisers. You will be encouraged to appoint and manage volunteers to build capacity around this work.

The Methodist Church has records from the early 18th century onwards. Its governance records (estimated at c4m items) are deposited in the John Rylands Research Institute & Library, University of Manchester, and its missionary collections in the SOAS Library, University of London.  Records of the Church at a local level are deposited with local authority archive services.  There are also five ‘community archives’ managed by volunteer editors. 

The United Reformed Church was established in 1972, with its roots in the Presbyterian and Congregational Churches. The search for a new location for the centralised deposit and permanent preservation of URC records is a key objective for this post-holder, along with developing and supporting the management of current administrative records. 

Both organisations maintain offsite record storage and occasional travel to them will be a necessary part of this role.

The Azaylia Foundation was founded by Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee in memory
of their daughter, Azaylia, who tragically passed away at just eight months old.
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by illness in children in the UK, yet it
receives less than 3% of cancer research funding.
Powered by a passionate community of supporters, The Azaylia Foundation is on a

Role Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and driven Fundraising Manager to grow our income
streams and deepen impact. You will play a central role in developing and delivering
our fundraising strategy, cultivating key relationships, and securing vital funds to
power our mission.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Income Generation
● Support the development and delivery of the Foundation’s fundraising
strategy.

● Build, manage, and maintain a high-quality fundraising pipeline and annual
work plan.

● Research, develop, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts,
foundations, and statutory bodies.

● Contribute to the planning and execution of our annual fundraising events and
community initiatives.

Relationship Management
● Cultivate and sustain meaningful relationships with funders, donors, and
partners.

● Provide tailored impact reports and consistent communication to supporters.

Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance
● Track and report against fundraising targets, including monthly donors and
income streams.

● Maintain accurate records, pipeline data, and activity logs.

● Produce clear, timely reports for senior leadership and trustees.

● Ensure all fundraising activity complies with regulation, best practice, and
GDPR.

Collaboration & Communications
● Work closely with the Head of Social Media and Community to align messaging
and impact storytelling.

● Support Foundation Ambassadors with campaigns and fundraising activities.

● Ensure children's voices and lived experiences remain at the heart of all
fundraising communication.

About You – Key Attributes

About the role

The Senior Research and Evaluation Adviser will work to position King’s College London as a sector leader on conducting institutional evaluation and research to understand how we can support students from underrepresented groups to access university and succeed at university. Our team generates causal evidence either through Randomised Controlled Trials or Quasi-experimental designs, as well as correlational and qualitative evidence. 

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to work in research and evaluation in an applied context, and who wish to use their skills and expertise in quantitative and qualitative methods. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in generating and applying evidence to practice.

We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.

Key responsibilities:

• ​​Lead on a range of research & evaluation activities, including synthesis of secondary research; conducting qualitative, quantitative and/or survey designs; developing and delivering randomised controlled trials (and other experimental trials as appropriate)
• ​Convey research findings, including complex quantitative information, in a clear and actionable way 
• Develop and maintain expertise in research and evaluation methodologies
• Work with academics and practitioners to test and trial new approaches to widening participation and student success

Skills & Experience

• Ability to select appropriate research designs and use qualitative and quantitative methods, including surveying, interviewing and running focus groups
• Ability to establish causal inference using experimental methods (e.g quasi-experimental methods, randomised controlled trials)
• Confident in conducting data analysis and statistical testing using relevant software (such as Power BI, R, Stata or SPSS) and presenting findings in various formats
• Ability to manage multiple research projects and deliver work to deadline
• Confident and clear written and verbal communication, including report-writing and presentation skills
• Ability to work with others to deliver project aims and overcome challenges
• Ability to coach or train others on how to undertake specific tasks and give clear direction on desired outcomes
• Ability to decide own pattern of work and manage workload and resources over a long period

• Postgraduate degree or qualification in research methods, statistics, analytics or a related field and/or relevant experience.

• ​Interest in using behavioural insights in a research or policy context to positively influence behaviour
