The Climate Change team is working as part of the Global Outcomes Department, having our Impact and Influencing function catalyse positive change for children and their communities; by driving influencing agendas and bringing knowledge, evidence, analysis and expertise to our partnerships, programmes and advocacy work.    

 The Climate Change Team at SCUK also works as part of the Global Save the Children movement and the wider sector to drive long lasting systems changes at the global and country levels. We are committed to promoting inclusive and equitable solutions, amplifying the voices of children most affected by climate change, and prioritising locally led efforts for lasting change, through our ever-growing portfolio in UK, Africa and Asia. We are also committed to shifting powers to the local actors and country office by strengthening capacities particularly through providing high quality technical assistance for design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of climate change projects (especially supported by GCF and other multilateral, bilateral, philanthropies and private sector development partners).

About the role  
As a Senior Climate Change Advisor you will provide technical leadership in climate change issues and adaptation actions to shape and drive influencing and impact agendas within Save the Children and the wider sector. You will provide expert technical guidance to drive impactful programme design and evidence generation, and to policy and advocacy goals. You will build and maintain strategic relationships with key decision-makers and partners, lead capacity strengthening for colleagues and partners, and champion equality, inclusion and the shifting power agenda.

• Technical lead for GCF Malawi, Community Resilient Health and Wellbeing of Rural Communities in Southern Malawi (CHWBRC) Project
• Provide global thought leadership in climate change (adaptation primarily), climate induced health risks, environment & natural resource management to shape and drive shared influencing and impact agendas within the Save the Children movement and the wider sector, maintaining up-to-date expertise and monitoring relevant external trends.
• Develop and deliver very high-quality policy, research, and/or technical programme design and evaluation with minimal supervision, ensuring inclusivity and excellence in implementation.
• Contribute to a strong learning culture through leading or supporting research, evaluation, innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Support Country Offices to integrate climate change risk management and resilience outcomes into ongoing and future Sectoral and developmental programmes, strategies, and policies.
• Contribute to and lead the development of climate-related research, studies, evaluations, and documentation of good practice to build a body of evidence, based on best practices and lessons learned from global and national experiences, to support (i) knowledge management, (ii) evidence generation, and (iii) programme improvements
• Facilitate capacity strengthening through mentoring, coaching, and training, providing formal and informal support to colleagues and partners to build expertise and effectiveness.
• Work closely with colleagues across Save the Children UK and the wider movement to ensure climate is mainstreamed across all thematic areas, ensuring that colleagues are equipped with the latest climate-related science and best practices.
• Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, including donors, government agencies, multilateral partners, and peer organisations, to enhance collaboration and secure funding for climate-related initiatives.
• Support Country Offices in building relationships with GCF National Designated Authorities (NDAs) and other key stakeholders to advance climate finance access and impact.
• Work with partnerships and fundraising teams to identify and develop strategic partnerships with external organisations that aligns with Save the Children's climate-related objectives, and to identify funding opportunities for climate-related projects.

About you  
We are looking for someone with the following experience, competencies and skills 

• Proven experience and the ability to design and implement large-scale climate adaptation programmes in developing countries, for multi-lateral and bi-lateral development partners 
• Good understanding of climate change risks affecting global south communities, children and the marginalized
• Proven ability to translate complex scientific evidence on climate change into practical programming and policy recommendations 
• Proven ability to strengthen evidence and learning uptake through analysis and collaboration, and proven ability to produce high-quality knowledge products (e.g. research, case studies, evaluations, etc.) 
• Strategic thinker and demonstrated thought leader driven by impact and evidence, curious to keep up to date with new ideas and innovations, who sees the positive potential in change 
• Experience of strengthening the integration of climate resilience and environmental sustainability into sectoral programs and/or Experience of designing and implementing nature-based solutions and adopting evidence-based ecosystem-based approaches
• Familiarity with global climate frameworks, funding mechanisms (e.g. the Green Climate Fund), and relevant policy processes. 
• Experience supporting or managing multidisciplinary teams or consortia, ideally across countries or regions. 
• The ability to be a thought leader in global or national adaptation planning such as climate and health; climate and nutrition; nature-based solutions; locally led adaptation; climate and gender; food and water security, etc. 
• Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and authenticity that enable effective communication with different audiences 
• Collaborative team player capable of coaching, motivating and working through others to achieve outstanding results

Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our grants team to support the charity in delivering approximately £5m of grant awards per year.

The Senior Grants Officer will play an active role in supporting Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s grant development and awarding process, liaising with Trust colleagues on grant applications and awards.

The post holder will work closely with fundraising teams to support donor asks and ongoing stewardship.

They will also support the Grants Manager in developing systems and processes for effective grant management, including maintaining up-to-date records on Salesforce.

Main Duties / Tasks

Grant Programme Delivery & Oversight

• Oversee application pipelines and grant status, ensuring efficient progression and escalating issues where required

Working within our Programme Development and Funding Team, this is a role which offers plenty of variety, and a chance to make a meaningful contribution to our work with and for older people around the world. In this role you will oversee Age International's Sponsor a Grandparent programme, working with partners to support the delivery of a £1m per year programme of work across five countries in Africa and Asia.

You will also manage Age International's management information systems and processes, producing internal and external reports, and ensuring that the work of the team is increasingly data driven. This post also includes the management of Age International's small and medium trust and foundations portfolio, with the post-holder additionally working with colleagues across the team to prospect new donors, and support in the design and development of funding bids to a range of institutional and non-traditional donors.

We operate a hybrid working model. We offer flexibility on working from home but require the applicant to be in our central London office a minimum of three days per month. Travel costs to the London office are the responsibility of the postholder and are not covered by the charity.

Healthwatch’s remit covers all publicly funded health and social care services for adults and children.

About the role:

This role supports the delivery of stories and campaigns that achieve media coverage nationally and in regional media that fall outside of our hospice catchment areas.

You will lead on PR support for some key areas of the charity, including retail and volunteering.

Summary

This is a new role leading the strategic use of marketing and communications to advance Challenge Works’ social impact mission and commercial objectives.

You will serve as the organisation’s senior lead on marketing and communications, acting as a trusted partner to leaders across the business, and reporting into a member of our Senior Leadership Team.

There are two key strands to the role.

1. Driving marketing and communications for Challenge Works with a focus on brand and business development. You will work closely with our priority area leads and Communications Manager to plan and deliver integrated campaigns, digital content, events, stakeholder engagement and PR to accelerate their growth priorities. You will also develop and deliver communications strategies to strengthen the Challenge Works brand through impactful thought leadership, and orchestrate the rollout of campaigns that position us as a leader in transformative innovation.
2. Overseeing the delivery of effective development and delivery of prize communications, working with our small in-house communications team and a retained PR agency, as well as any other ad hoc contractors. It also includes acting as an adviser and, where needed, an extra pair of hands on prize communications activity.

Success in this role requires the ability to think strategically while moving swiftly to action. We are a small team and everyone needs to dive in and be hands-on.

We are entirely funded through our work on prizes, so our communications and marketing activity needs to show business results as well as supporting our impact goals. Our target audiences are a niche group: innovation teams within governments, research and innovation funders, philanthropic foundations, and other innovation partners and experts, both in the UK and worldwide. Success means building our brand in the long term to generate awareness and trust with those target communities while also delivering opportunity-led communications that drive conversion for specific propositions. With limited resource, all our channels need to work together effectively to maximise impact.

You will draw on strong relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively across Challenge Works, Nesta and external partners, while bringing the authority and insight needed to influence senior leaders and ensure our communications consistently reflect our ambition and expertise.

The role

• Develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns aimed at reaching and engaging current and future funders, with a particular focus on owned digital channels and in person stakeholder events.
• Build the Challenge Works brand across all relevant channels so that it becomes synonymous with transformative innovation in the minds of funders in the UK and around the world.
• Thought leadership. Collaborate with internal and affiliated external thought leaders to nurture a pipeline of authentic, high-impact content that builds the Challenge Works brand and generates qualified leads for prize funders and partners.
• Stakeholder strategy. Collaborate with colleagues leading our BD efforts to develop our stakeholder engagement strategy and guide our approach to stakeholder management across Challenge Works.
• Overseeing retained PR agency to ensure effectiveness and value for money in prize communications and, to generate complementary PR ‘moments’ that contribute to funder engagement and awareness.
• Provide strong leadership of the communications team to ensure that they are continuing to develop in their roles, maximising innovator engagement and delivering to the high expectations of our funders. Provide advice, expert input, and training across the wider team around communications topics to enable the whole team to embed best practice communications principles in their work.
• Own the marketing and communications budget ensuring value for money across all activity and budget planning for future strategic initiatives.
• Leveraging our prize communications. Working with the communications team to ensure that we are optimising the opportunities for wider marketing and business development that the prizes (and their communications budgets) will generate.

The person

• A strong track record of developing, delivering and leading the delivery of strategic multichannel marketing strategies and plans, using marketing as part of business development and lead generation in a B2B context
• A strong track record of developing and evolving brand identities in a B2B or social impact context, ensuring brand consistency and resonance across all touchpoints
• Demonstrable understanding of social, political and economic trends and market conditions to provide strategic communications advice to senior staff
• Deep knowledge and proven understanding of communications functions (media, marketing, events, campaigns, editorial, content development, digital platforms) and how they be applied as part of an integrated marketing or communications approach in the pursuit of a communications objective

As a senior member of the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity (BWHC) Fundraising & Marketing team, your main objective is to lead the development and management of our community fundraising programme to maximise income to meet annual targets.

You will play a vital role in stewarding effective relationships to maximise support from our existing supporters and crucially, for driving new donor acquisition to ensure the sustainability of our work.  Developing our community fundraising programme is essential to our income base and profile. Key Accountabilities

Community & Events Fundraising

• Work alongside the Operations team to ensure venue Risk Assessments are robust and up to date and operationally effective for event spaces 
• Oversee contractor compliance including RAMS, insurance and method statements. 
• Quality assure weekly, monthly and event-specific H&S inspections. 
• Contribute to audits, investigations and incident reviews. 
• Embed a proactive safety culture across the Events Team. 
• Represent the Events Team on operational and Health & Safety matters, coordinating with central Operations and Council stakeholders as required. 
• Provide assurance reporting to senior management as required.

Financial & Commercial Oversight 

• Manage operational budgets and monitor expenditure. 
• Update and reconcile supplier costs and credit card logs. 
• Seeking quotes for goods and services in line with Enable’s Procurement Code, and raising purchase orders as required 
• Assist with contractor invoice processing and ensure timely follow-up where required. 
• Contribute to budget forecasting and cost control. 
• Ensuring all timesheets for casual staff are accurate and processed on time 
• Managing supplier performance against SLA’s, monitoring cost control and value for money 
• Carrying out other duties/ projects as directed by the Head of Events

Skills and Experience: 

• Previous venue management experience
• Previous line management experience 
• Previous project management experience
• Demonstrable experience of writing Standard and Emergency Operating Procedures 
• Competence using a range of office software, including outlook, excel and databases 
• Excellent written skills with a high level of confidence speaking to people on the phone 
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects against tight deadlines 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build working relationships 
• Ability to work independently while operating within the wider team structure 
• Confident driver with clean driving licence - required driving in role 
• Able to work flexible hours including weekends, early mornings and late nights
