We’re looking for a Programme Manager (Income Generation), who will apply project management methodologies to align all fundraising activity with the divisional objective: to bring in the funds that make our work possible.
What does this role do?
As Programme Manager (Income Generation), you will:
- apply standardised project management lifecycles, methodologies and governance to all activity in the Income Generation division, ensuring all work is aligned with strategic objectives,
- support the division to design and deliver projects, covering the full project lifecycle from initial scoping to lessons learned and evaluation,
- report on progress throughout projects, proactively identifying and communicating dependencies, risks and priorities,
- engage with stakeholders across the division to understand their projects and challenges, while working closely with the Portfolio team and other Programme Managers to align projects with wider organisational priorities.
Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for 16th and 17th April 2026, and will take place on Teams.
Could this be you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience of delivering complex programmes and business planning, ideally with experience in income generation or fundraising, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities projects in this space present. Experience of supporting teams and projects through significant change, preferably supported by a qualification in project management. You’ll be an excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, who works proactively and autonomously, and has experience of managing project budgets. A commitment and passion for the work we do is essential.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking Capital Project Manager to oversee the management and development of the school estate.
Reporting to the Head of Estates and Projects and working with the estates team, you will be responsible for delivering the capital developments across the estate, including a focus on new schools, sustainability projects and efficiency standards.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing SCA project priorities, budgets and delivery from inception to end of defects
- Managing the opening and delivery of new free schools with the DfE, design teams and local authorities
- Managing and supporting estate condition, maintenance and asset management
- Managing capital elements of academy conversion projects
- Planning, procuring and delivering high-quality estate and project services
- Managing and monitoring external technical advisors
- Managing health & safety across all project lifecycles
- Managing third-party suppliers and consultants
- Managing consultations, admissions, branding, marketing, FF&E and uniforms for new schools
- Providing professional property services and ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations
- Assisting with estate-related policies, procedures and statutory frameworks
- Contributing to capital fund prioritisation and overseeing capital projects
- Assisting in developing a carbon reduction strategy
- Managing and supporting key building programmes and reporting to senior leaders

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a project management environment
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Project management experience within education, not-for-profit or public sector
- Experience of coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
- Demonstrable successful delivery of project outputs to required time, quality and cost
- The ability to interpret and present complex information to inform robust recommendations for evidence-based practice and decision-making

Working within our Programme Development and Funding Team, this is a role which offers plenty of variety, and a chance to make a meaningful contribution to our work with and for older people around the world. In this role you will oversee Age International's Sponsor a Grandparent programme, working with partners to support the delivery of a £1m per year programme of work across five countries in Africa and Asia.
You will also manage Age International's management information systems and processes, producing internal and external reports, and ensuring that the work of the team is increasingly data driven. This post also includes the management of Age International's small and medium trust and foundations portfolio, with the post-holder additionally working with colleagues across the team to prospect new donors, and support in the design and development of funding bids to a range of institutional and non-traditional donors.

We have run over 100 challenge prizes awarding over £260m, on behalf of public, private and philanthropic funders around the world, including the Longitude Prize on Dementia with Alzheimer's Society and Innovate UK, the Sustainable Cities Challenge with Toyota Mobility Foundation, the Smart Data Challenge with the UK Government Department for Business and Trade and Ofwat’s Water Innovation Fund. Our four priority areas are Climate Response, Cities & Societies, Health and Technology Frontiers.
Summary
This is a new role leading the strategic use of marketing and communications to advance Challenge Works’ social impact mission and commercial objectives.
You will serve as the organisation’s senior lead on marketing and communications, acting as a trusted partner to leaders across the business, and reporting into a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
There are two key strands to the role.
- Driving marketing and communications for Challenge Works with a focus on brand and business development. You will work closely with our priority area leads and Communications Manager to plan and deliver integrated campaigns, digital content, events, stakeholder engagement and PR to accelerate their growth priorities. You will also develop and deliver communications strategies to strengthen the Challenge Works brand through impactful thought leadership, and orchestrate the rollout of campaigns that position us as a leader in transformative innovation.
- Overseeing the delivery of effective development and delivery of prize communications, working with our small in-house communications team and a retained PR agency, as well as any other ad hoc contractors. It also includes acting as an adviser and, where needed, an extra pair of hands on prize communications activity.
Success in this role requires the ability to think strategically while moving swiftly to action. We are a small team and everyone needs to dive in and be hands-on.
We are entirely funded through our work on prizes, so our communications and marketing activity needs to show business results as well as supporting our impact goals. Our target audiences are a niche group: innovation teams within governments, research and innovation funders, philanthropic foundations, and other innovation partners and experts, both in the UK and worldwide. Success means building our brand in the long term to generate awareness and trust with those target communities while also delivering opportunity-led communications that drive conversion for specific propositions. With limited resource, all our channels need to work together effectively to maximise impact.
You will draw on strong relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively across Challenge Works, Nesta and external partners, while bringing the authority and insight needed to influence senior leaders and ensure our communications consistently reflect our ambition and expertise.
The role
- Develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns aimed at reaching and engaging current and future funders, with a particular focus on owned digital channels and in person stakeholder events.
- Build the Challenge Works brand across all relevant channels so that it becomes synonymous with transformative innovation in the minds of funders in the UK and around the world.
- Thought leadership. Collaborate with internal and affiliated external thought leaders to nurture a pipeline of authentic, high-impact content that builds the Challenge Works brand and generates qualified leads for prize funders and partners.
- Stakeholder strategy. Collaborate with colleagues leading our BD efforts to develop our stakeholder engagement strategy and guide our approach to stakeholder management across Challenge Works.
- Overseeing retained PR agency to ensure effectiveness and value for money in prize communications and, to generate complementary PR ‘moments’ that contribute to funder engagement and awareness.
- Provide strong leadership of the communications team to ensure that they are continuing to develop in their roles, maximising innovator engagement and delivering to the high expectations of our funders. Provide advice, expert input, and training across the wider team around communications topics to enable the whole team to embed best practice communications principles in their work.
- Own the marketing and communications budget ensuring value for money across all activity and budget planning for future strategic initiatives.
- Leveraging our prize communications. Working with the communications team to ensure that we are optimising the opportunities for wider marketing and business development that the prizes (and their communications budgets) will generate.
The person
- A strong track record of developing, delivering and leading the delivery of strategic multichannel marketing strategies and plans, using marketing as part of business development and lead generation in a B2B context
- A strong track record of developing and evolving brand identities in a B2B or social impact context, ensuring brand consistency and resonance across all touchpoints
- Demonstrable understanding of social, political and economic trends and market conditions to provide strategic communications advice to senior staff

What we offer

Role purpose
The Senior Challenge Fundraising Officer will lead the delivery and growth of APF’s third-party and mass participation challenge events portfolio.
This role exists to significantly grow income and participation by managing end-to-end third-party challenge events, developing community-facing charity-owned fundraising products and delivering excellent supporter stewardship
Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and colleagues across Communications, Services and the Operations Team, you will increase recruitment, empower supporters to raise ambitious funds, and create journeys that encourage long-term engagement with APF.
Success in this role means more people fundraising for APF, raising more income and feeling valued, supported and inspired to stay connected to our mission.
Key Responsibilities
1. Grow participation in third party
- Manage the full lifecycle of third-party and mass participation challenge events, from planning and recruitment through to stewardship and re engagement.
- Develop and execute creative marketing strategies to boost participation and attract new event participants.

You will be joining the team at a critical time as we develop creative ways to solve the challenges faced by young people today. We have a bold Corporate Partnerships income target, and this role will play an important part in helping us deliver our organisational promise, with a specific focus on tech and media activations.
We work with a fantastic variety of organisations, including Apple, Amazon, Sky and TikTok, and our partnerships continue to evolve and deliver a wide range of value measures to each business, The King's Trust and the young people we support.
Our sector partnerships have an incredible impact on young lives. Some examples include:
- Employability: connecting businesses with young people to provide a pipeline of new, diverse talent, whilst having a lasting impact on young people’s lives.
- Commercial: building commercial and brand-awareness campaigns and establishing valuable sponsorship opportunities.
- Employee Engagement: inspiring employees with fun, meaningful ways to fundraise for The Trust, and share their skills through volunteering with young people.
You will lead, manage, and grow a portfolio of strategic corporate partnerships including Sky and TikTok to generate the essential income we need to transform young people’s lives.
Your role as Senior Partnerships Manager will be to:
- Lead and deliver against the strategic direction for your partners, ensuring robust partnership plans are in place to enable increased and continued support of our work.
- Ensure financial targets are met and deliver partnership objectives, including programme activity, employee engagement, commercial, and marketing & communications.
- Provide support and leadership to a matrix team of account managers and executives.
You will join an ambitious, collaborative team of partnership experts who are passionate about providing young people the opportunity to live, learn and earn – creating a better future through jobs and education.
