About the Role

As Legacy Officer, you will manage a proportional share of legacy cases, predominantly comprising residuary, life interest, discretionary and specific legacies, including a small proportion of those which are contentious and identifying and resolving complex case issues.

Depending on experience and any complexities and associated risk to the Charity, you will have autonomy to make decisions daily; including financial decisions associated with estate assets which include properties and investments (which are typically hundreds of thousands and on occasion millions of pounds), enhancing the Sanctuary’s reputation as a good recipient of legacies by building good relationships with professionals, Lay Executors, as well as friends and family involved in each administration. You will be supervised on more complex cases and high value legacies, to progress personal development.

About You

You will have a relevant qualification recognised by the Legacy profession; ILM Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration (CiCLA) or equivalent (STEP or ILEX) and/or significant previous experience of working in legacy administration at an equivalent level and a substantial knowledge of legacy or probate administration.

Ideally you will be proficient in the use of FirstClass 4 and commensurate knowledge of MS Office including Excel and have up to date knowledge of charity law (as it applies to charity legacies), taxes applicable to estates and probate/trust law and processes and data protection relating to charity administration.

The opportunity:

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with proven project management experience who is keen to develop their experience in the social investment sector as part of a mission-driven Investment Group.

The role is key in supporting the delivery of our investment activity, including the project management of our annual investment performance cycle, investment governance and enabling the effective delivering of our investments from start to finish with our property, venture and lending teams.

What you will do:

Effective project management of core investment requirements throughout the end-to-end investment lifecycle, optimising the use of technology, including:

• Developing our project management systems and tools for the annual calendar of investment activities and the lifecycle of all investments that can be used by all team members. This will be developed and delivered in collaboration with stakeholders across BSC to manage the expected increased volume of portfolio tasks and checks.

• Working with the Director – Portfolio to project manage the effective updating of the pipeline with our property, lending and venture teams.

• Optimising technology, ensure key portfolio requirements are met across all investments such as checklists and follow-up actions.

• Optimising technology, ensure effective project management of amendments to portfolio investments.

• Project manage key change processes across priority areas of impact investing practice and process development.

Effective delivery of investment governance:

• Project manage the effective delivery of the Investment and Performance Committee and executive review meetings of investments including the meeting agenda, member attendance and action log.

• Supervise the Investment Project Officer to deliver Committee packs to a high quality.

• Working with Director – Portfolio, ensure we maintain an up-to-date status of key investments including the pipeline and underperformance watchlists.

• Project manage the annual investment performance cycle working with key stakeholders across BSC, including financial performance meetings in December and impact and systems change meetings in June.

• Project manage the Portfolio Progress Meetings with our fund managers with admin support from the Investment Project Officer, including finalising minutes, lessons learned and actions in a timely manner.

Provide support across the investment group as required for ad hoc projects that support the effective working of the team, working closely with senior stakeholders and other colleagues within and outside the investment group.

CPAG is seeking an AI Coordinator for a two-year fixed term to support our work in the responsible use of AI. In this role, you will lead on planning, delivering, and monitoring AI projects in collaboration with our partner organisations. This work involves the ongoing protection of CPAG's intellectual property and reputation as a sector leader. You’ll carry out regular evaluation of each project and regularly update stakeholders with performance metrics, user feedback, and impact assessments.

This new role also involves developing training materials and delivering sessions to upskill CPAG staff in AI technologies, with tailored materials for the needs of different teams. You will ‘own’ and maintain the relevant internal policy documents and processes for AI use and will oversee the use and optimisation of AI tools across the organisation. Alongside colleagues, you’ll manage risk and compliance (including legal and ethical standards) to ensure responsible AI adoption that is fully compatible with CPAG’s mission. You’ll monitor developments in AI, assessing new products for risk and opportunity, and share lessons learned across the charity.

We’re looking for someone with strong project coordination skills, experience of managing multiple stakeholders, and a keen interest in and experience of AI and emerging technologies.
