Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Exhibitions Officer to join their Archives, Heritage Library and Museum services (AMS) team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering exhibitions that explore the history and evolution of medicine, with a strong emphasis on audience engagement and accessibility. You will collaborate with the AMS team to create compelling exhibitions that resonate with a wide range of visitors.

Their collections, including archives, art and objects, books, and oral history recordings, offer a unique lens through which they can engage, inspire and entertain audiences. In London, their permanent displays and temporary exhibitions are viewed by over 32,000 visitors a year, with a further 400,000 visits to items on loan to museums and galleries around the world. 

You’ll report to and work closely with the Senior Curator and hold a key role in a busy and experienced team of 9 heritage professionals.

Responsibilities

• plan and develop the content and delivery of a programme of changing exhibitions exploring themes from medicine past and present
• research and write interpretation for exhibitions and displays.
• collaborate with the AMS team to develop materials that enhance audience engagement and accessibility
• work with an advisory committee to ensure exhibitions reflect diverse perspectives
• manage the planning and logistics of all aspects of exhibition installation and de-installation, working collaboratively with other RCP departments and external contractors.
• contribute to AMS social media, history blog, exhibition webpages.

This role is a part time (14 hours), with a minimum of 7 hours per fortnight to be worked onsite. The remaining hours able to be worked flexibly across the week.

Experience

• You will have significant experience of developing and delivering exhibitions in a museum environment, including writing interpretation text.
• Your experience will also include managing loans in a museum environment, including legal and logistical requirements.
• You will be familiar with handling historic collections and with best practice guidelines like Spectrum.
• You will have a demonstrable interest in the history of medicine or a related subject.

This is a part-time role, with the option of working either 2 days (15 hours) or 3 days (21.5 hours) per week. Job Purpose

As Director of Partnerships, you will:

• Foster and facilitate collaboration across different departments within OSUK.

• Represent OSUK at a leadership level, building relationships with industry peers and peers within the Operation Smile global team to ensure best practice across all areas.

Key Responsibilities

Philanthropy Leadership

• Leads strategy, planning and operation of the major gift, trusts & foundations and corporate giving channels.
• Develops annual business plans and budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and Executive Team.  
• Strategically identifies and qualifies potential new donors to grow the prospect pipeline.
• Prepares development communications: solicitation and acknowledgement letters; case statements and proposals; stewardship reports; briefing notes; gift agreements.
• Identifies, cultivates, and solicits major gift commitments from high-net-worth individuals
• Monitors activity of the team, ensuring that benchmarks are achieved, including submission of solicitations, donor contacts and meetings, confirmations of donations, and other performance indicators as related to the team checking their portfolio.
• Provides the organisation with the interpretation of market trends and emerging issues that could impact the organisation’s partnerships fundraising stream.
• Ensures the effective collection of donor information and tracking of points of contact in accordance with best practices; provides and presents statistical analysis to senior leaders.

Financial Management

• Manages and implements approved business plans, ensuring that the annual revenue objectives and budget are met or exceeded, and oversight of the partnership’s departmental budgets.
• Provides leadership in the delivery of statistical analysis, projections, and detailed reports on partnerships fundraising goals and performance that may be used to contribute to the development of internal budgets.

Partnership Sustainability

• Develops donor relationships by researching, sourcing, cultivating, and stewarding existing and potential partners.
• Works to broaden sources of revenue, including working with corporate partners in various industries.
• Develops and implements a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors and corporate partners.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To manage, lead and support the Fundraising and Communications Team to retain donors, increase income and provide clear direction for our communications. Join our Legacy Administration Team and manage a varied and active caseload of specific, residuary, and reversionary bequests. This is a pivotal role, helping to ensure that every gift left to Marie Curie is handled with care, accuracy, and respect — enabling us to continue delivering our essential services.

Legacy income is one of the most significant sources of funding for our charity. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding and maximising that income through diligent case management, effective communication with solicitors and executors, and a firm understanding of probate law and best practice.
