We are seeking a dynamic and driven fundraiser to be our Trusts and Foundations Manager. The Sutton Trust is at an exciting point in our organisational journey, with a new Chairperson and ambitions to significantly grow our impact and fundraising as part of our 2030 strategy.

Over the past five years the impact of the Sutton Trust has increased, especially in our programme numbers, securing a relatively stable income of c.£6m over a number of years. In recent years this has grown to c.£7m, and our organisational strategy to 2030 will continue this fundraising trajectory to increase income to £12m. Trusts and foundations income currently accounts for c.37% of our fundraising, and we know there is considerable enthusiasm and opportunity in the grant-making world for building strategic partnerships with us.

Our fundraising approach will continue to focus on major gifts and strategic multi-year partnerships, leveraging a range of drivers to secure Trust, Foundation and Statutory support. There is significant opportunity to build mid-level income (£50k-£100k) from family and organisational trusts/foundations, in which the Manager will play a pivotal role, as well as completing a deep dive into the team’s extensive prospect pipeline.

The Role and Team

As Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will be an experienced, proactive relationship manager and fundraiser. You will be confident in securing new business through active prospecting and networking, along with securing and stewarding funding relationships with a wide variety of Trusts, Foundations, Statutory and organisational donors. With an entrepreneurial mindset for income generation, the postholder will be able to confidently manage competing demands to balance securing new funding and delivering high quality stewardship and grant management to a portfolio of current and prospective supporters.

The role will manage a growing portfolio of mid-level Trusts, Foundations, and organisational donors (predominantly £50k-£100k), while also providing strategic support on grant management of our major Trust and Foundation partners. This will include compiling key reports and support of gathering and analysing programmatic data.

The role sits in the Trusts and Foundations team of the Development Department and is managed by the Head of Trusts and Foundations. All team members work on both new business and grant/account management, with ambitious individual income targets. You will work closely with colleagues across both the Development Department and the wider organisation.

Main duties

New Business

• Undertake prospect research into trusts and foundations, statutory opportunities (contracts or grants) and organisational funders in collaboration with the Head of Trusts and Foundations, and other senior staff and senior volunteers. This includes identification, due diligence, qualification, and creating briefings and outreach plans.
• Work with the Head of Trusts and Foundations to cultivate a prospect pool of potential donors, looking at lapsed supporters, the prospect pipeline, stakeholder network mapping through the Board and Trustees, as well as funders with an active interest in education / social mobility.
• Submit compelling funding proposals and reports to mid-level trusts, foundations, statutory and organisational donors to secure income (predominately £50k - £100k) for the Trust. Work alongside other Development team and wider organisation members to ensure high-quality submissions.
• Alongside team members, manage the shared Development inbox to ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a prompt, consistent, and friendly manner.
• Follow all relevant policies and processes to ensure due diligence is completed for prospective donors and account management plans are kept up to date.

Account Management and Development

• Manage and grow a portfolio of mid-level trusts, foundations, statutory supporters and organisational donors, delivering impactful stewardship (e.g. impact reporting) while meeting all donor reporting requirements to maximise financial income and partnership longevity.
• Support senior team members on strategic management of our major trust and foundation partners, including leading on compiling key impact reports, coordinating meetings, attending programme visits, event invites, writing targeted donor communications and reporting.
• Work with the Head of Fundraising Operations to compile and analyse key programmatic data for use by the Development team in their grant reporting.
• Be accountable for achieving agreed trusts and foundations income targets, looking for opportunities to grow funding and diversify income for this stream.
• Ensure all record keeping and administration relating to trusts and foundations income is maintained, up-to-date, and processed in accordance with GDPR and Sutton Trust policies and procedures.

Fundraising Finance and Reporting

• Act as an ambassador for the Trust with external audiences, delivering presentations and providing expertise as required.
• Work with colleagues to deliver impactful events to cultivate prospects and steward partners, with a focus on experience for trust and foundation supporters and prospects.
• Work with colleagues across Development and Finance to ensure accurate forecasting, income tracking and reporting for trusts and foundations income, through the Trust’s CRM (Salesforce), account management plans, and all relevant income pipeline documents.
• Ensure you appropriately follow policies and procedures on due diligence, Salesforce and data management, account management, stewardship, and reporting.
• Stay up to date with grant fundraising best practice, learning from senior members of the team, and keep abreast of developments and opportunities within the wider fundraising space.
• Other duties as necessary from time to time.

Person Specification

We welcome applications from individuals who have:

• Experience in successfully securing, managing, and developing Trust, Foundation, Statutory or organisational donor partnerships at five figures or above, from initial prospect research to securing income and ongoing grant management.
• Experience building and managing relationships, particularly in the philanthropic sector with organisational donors.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to write compelling proposals and impact reports, or pitch to audiences with the intent of persuading them to your point of view or secure a specific outcome.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to summarise information from readily available sources clearly and concisely.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and tasks to successfully achieve project or other goals.
• Excellent prospect research skills and strong analytical skills.
• First-class interpersonal skills - a natural ambassador able to represent the Sutton Trust with confidence in a range of settings.
• Knowledge of fundraising in the education and/or not-for-profit sector.
• Experience using CRM software (ideally Salesforce) to accurately record funding relationships (desirable).

And someone who is:

• Sympathetic to the aims of the Trust and its mission to address educational disadvantage and increase social mobility.
• Able to take the initiative and take responsibility for a wide variety of tasks and projects.

Terms of Appointment

• Contract: Full-time, Permanent
• Salary: £43,000-£48,000
• Working location: Minimum of two office days per week. Our home working policy gives staff the option to - work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
• Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP.
• Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This role is likely to also be required to attend events / meetings outside of normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends, in line with organisational policies.

Job Title: Director of Operations - Maternity Cover

Salary: £55,000 - 65,000

About the Role 

The Director of Operations is a member of GiveOut’s leadership team, partnering closely with the Executive Director, they will lead on all operational matters, ensuring GiveOut is an efficient, compliant, and resilient institution capable of delivering lasting impact.

The Director of Operations oversees the charity’s financial and administrative systems, human resources, compliance and risk management, and internal communications. They will support the Executive Director in strategic planning, budget management, governance, stakeholder reporting, and cross-organisational projects, deputising for the Executive Director when required.

Key Responsibilities

Governance and Compliance

• Support the Executive Director in servicing the Board of Trustees; preparing papers, coordinating meetings, and onboarding new trustees.

• Ensure organisational compliance with statutory, legal, and data protection requirements.

• Lead on risk management, maintaining robust policies, risk registers and assessments, and mitigation strategies.

• Coordinate the annual audit and reporting to the Charity Commission.

Strategy and Planning

This is a key role to oversee RDA UK’s approach to safeguarding, supporting senior management and working with external partners. This is crucial to maintain good practice, resources, quality and support to RDA Groups which includes driving RDA safeguarding training.

Purpose of the Role 

The Development Manager will play a vital role in expanding The Churchill Fellowship’s income from Trusts, Foundations, and other institutional funders. Working closely with the Development Director, the post holder will identify, cultivate and secure new funding partnerships that support our core Fellowship programme, unrestricted income, and the Activate Programme in line with our organisational priorities. 

The postholder will manage the full funder journey, from initial engagement to long-term stewardship, ensuring all relationships are grown and managed professionally and effectively. They will work closely with relevant departments to coordinate proposals, reports, and communications, helping maintain strong connections with funders.

Key responsibilities 

Prospecting and Pipeline Development 

• Research and identify new potential supporters, primarily from the Trusts & Foundations sector, with some engagement of aligned individuals or family-foundation prospects in conjunction with the wider Development Team.

PCS is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our Member Response team as Team Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the growth and success of the union by leading a dynamic team handling queries and call. This post is based in PCS Clapham with hybrid working arrangements. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in our union.

• Starting salary: £43,715 p.a. rising to £48,846 p.a. in annual increments

Successful candidates for the Member Response Team Leader will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience leading teams or supervising staff
• Working in a customer-focused organisation or service
• A strong understanding of GDPR
• Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce

The main duties of the Member Response Team Leader role include:

• Managing a team of Member Response Team Administrators
• Day-to-day operations of the team
• Ensuring workflows are managed efficiently and service level agreements are consistently met

With an ability to foster a positive and collaborative working environment both remotely and in person, the Member Response Team Leader will be expected to provide clear direction, conduct appraisals, and support the professional development of their team. Strong leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to motivate and engage staff are essential.

The role of Member Response Team Leader offers hybrid working with flexibility to work from home outside of peak periods. Due to key operational and democratic activities, the Member Response Team Leader will be required to attend the office daily from February to April each year and additional periods throughout the year. Outside of this period, hybrid flexibility will apply in line with team needs and organisational policy.

Purpose of the job:

To assist in maximising the potential for union growth, development and success through managing, co-ordinating and supporting the work of the Member Response Team, in line with PCS policy and our ethos as an organising union.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. People Management

• Day-to-day management of staff and workflow
• Manage work allocation, future planning and support for team/line manager
• Through the appraisal system, identify training and development needs, train or organise training for staff
• Undertake induction programmes, 1 to 1s and appraisals with staff as appropriate
• Apply the staff conduct policies e.g. discipline, grievance, capability, dignity at work and IT security policies as and when required
• Check work standards and maintain consistent quality of delegated tasks
• Proactively promote diversity including equality in line with the wider PCS approach
• Continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency of the administrative team
• Ensure health, safety and welfare of team members

2. Systems Management

• Develop and make best use of relevant systems e.g. office, IT, finance, etc.
• Attend relevant training and ensure staff are appropriately trained on system changes and developments
• Regularly reviewing existing systems, and ensure consistency and organisational best practice is followed
• Equality-proof and check that the design and operation of any new systems are in line with wider PCS policy, e.g. health and safety, and IT security policies, and make recommendations to senior officers as appropriate where new systems are designed that could be applicable to the wider union
• Implement an ongoing development and monitoring process for systems including managing resources, gathering, monitoring, collating and reconciling information, checking allocations, preparing reports, highlighting budget over and under spends
• Set up statistical systems to produce reports and analyse information i.e. membership reports, personal cases management system, equality statistics
• Organise and allocate work, deal with queries and correspondence, research information, produce briefs, documents and responses
• Ensure the membership system e.g. Salesforce is used to maintain up-to-date data
• Contract management work including scoping suppliers, drawing up tendering documents and recommendations, provide reports to bodies and committees

3. Team Working

• Proactively promote team working
• Initiate, organise, lead and participate in team meetings as appropriate
• Maintain high levels of confidentiality of sensitive issues at all times
• Provide assistance to team members

4. Office Coordination / Project Management

• Plan ahead and prioritise the teams work
• Share best practice with colleagues across the organisation
• Manage the physical work environment e.g. undertake risk assessments, coordinate office resources, review office layout in line with facilities systems, work with department head / SNO to deploy non-staff resources (e.g. office furniture and equipment) in the most effective manner
• Prepare for, attend and record meetings and events and take follow up action
• Liaise with senior officials both within PCS and external organisations e.g. trade unions, government departments and agencies
• Handle projects as directed by the line manager
• Deal with complex queries, issues, arising from staff or via correspondence from members
• Draft complex correspondence, briefs, reports as appropriate

5. Meeting, Conference, Election, Ballot, Events Arrangements

• Organise, co-ordinate and supervise arrangements for meetings, elections, conferences, seminars and other external and internal events
• Develop appropriate systems and support for events, conferences, elections, meetings, ballots, etc. e.g. ensuring computer and internet services are available, determine schedule for printing materials, and encourage participation
• Agree and manage timetables, processes and procedures
• Attend and contribute to events as appropriate
• Ensure compliance with rules and legal requirements, including equality issues, seeking guidance where appropriate

6. Union Organising and Campaigning (where appropriate)

• Co-ordinate and assist in the delivery of union organising activity at PCS members workplaces in support of and alongside the relevant PCS Officers
• Prepare, plan, and co-ordinate team(s) support for scheduled union organising and campaigning activity
• Maintain direct contact with PCS members within their workplace(s)/branches as required
• Co-ordinate and delegate union organising and campaigning support work/activity to direct staff team as required
