We are looking for a Senior Advocate who will have day to day responsibility for the running and promotion of the advocacy service in Dorset.

You will manage a pool of advocates which involves recruitment, supporting them through induction and by conducting supervision and best practice meetings, ensuring the provisions of the service we offer to children and young people is to a high standard.

You will be responsible in managing the advocacy referrals and allocating these to the most appropriate advocate to meet the needs of the child or young person, whilst also carrying a small caseload of advocacy referrals yourself where you will provide independent and confidential advocacy to children and young people to empower them to express their wishes and feelings in decision that affect their lives to ensure that their voices are heard.

You will help drive the performance of the service by monitoring the referrals, activity and budgets, and using bespoke system, to prepare statistical and qualitative data reports for monitoring meetings to evidence service target achievements. This will also enable you to identify recurring themes and concerns which can be escalated.

This role also provides the opportunity to work in co-operation with other NYAS services and departments and well as acting the link between NYAS and the local authority.

New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. The Services Manager (Day Centre) is a brand new role for the organisation. They will work as part of the existing Youth Work Team to provide vital additional capacity and expertise to respond to the significantly increased demand we have been experiencing. The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.

TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.

This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.

In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.

Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. Senior Team Leader – Care

An established and successful charity, our client provides hospice care for children with life limiting conditions and their families in the South West of England. They have three hospices in North Devon, North Somerset and Cornwall. They deliver services to children and their families who have a palliative care need and meet the agreed referral criteria. Their ethos is support the whole family making the most of short and precious lives and their current delivery model includes care wherever the child is when they need it most including care at the hospice base, at home and virtual support.

JOB TITLE: Senior Team Leader - Care

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: Two

SALARY: £49,237 - £55,663 (Pro rata if part time) plus an attractive benefits package (including the ability to maintain your NHS pension) and work environment (relocation package may be available for the right candidate)

HOURS: Full time at 40 hours per week (willing to consider part time hours with a minimum of 32 per week), including weekends/bank holidays/evenings and nights as required, for which unsocial hours enhancements are payable

Are you an excellent communicator, motivated and passionate about children’s palliative care? This is an exciting time to join our team as significant investment is made to reflect our adapted ways of working and focus on staff and service development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic clinical leader with a passion to have a key influence to making a difference to the lives of children with life limited conditions. In this role you will be a key part of the hospice care leadership team ensuring that care standards are high, care delivery is responsive and reflects the model of hospice, that families are engaged and the team is well led and supported. Providing line management to the Team Leaders as part of a leadership team, projects and portfolios will be undertaken to support the Head of Care deliver a well led, responsive, and kind service.

Working closely with the Deputy Director for Quality to ensure the quality agenda is taken forward including supporting the hospice based teams with audits, policies, standards and learning.

You will be visible to the team, maintaining clinical credibility through working regular care shifts and to develop a clinical facing role.

To be successful you will be/have:

- Qualified RSCN with demonstrable experience of leading, motivating and supporting a successful team.
- Highly specialist clinical skills within paediatric palliative care with the ability to provide clinical leadership.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and families with palliative care needs
- The commitment and ability to champion the values and behaviours of the Hospice delivering their services reflecting the ethos of the organisation.
