About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. 

All of us will experience violence at some point in our lives. For many children, it is a daily reality. Each year, tens of children are killed, hundreds are hospitalised, 1 in 5 teenage children are victims and the majority admit to feeling afraid of violence. It scares them when they travel home from school, prevents them from going out and makes the most vulnerable feel like they don’t matter. It is taking lives, traumatising families and dividing communities. It robs potential, progress and hope. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives. 

The evaluation team contributes to the design and implementation of the fund’s various funding rounds. The team is also responsible for assessing, appointing, monitoring, and the quality assurance of rigorous impact evaluations from experts in the field. The Senior Evaluation Manager will play a key role in leading evaluation work. The post holder will also lead a team of evaluation managers, ensuring they have the support to deliver a portfolio of evaluation projects. 

Key responsibilities 

The core of your job is to ensure that we are excellent at evaluation, so that we can find out the very best ways to prevent young people and children from becoming involved in violence. 

Evaluation 

Working with the Head of Evaluation the post holder will: 

• Implement the processes for assessing the quality of evidence underpinning applications to the fund and making funding recommendations to the Grants and Evaluation Committee. 

• Shape the evaluation approach for individual grant rounds, including leading on this for a small number of rounds. 

• Act as a source of expertise on the statistical underpinnings of YEF’s evaluation work, including on issues such as  power calculations, regression analysis and  missing data.

• Lead the delivery of YEF’s evaluation work, designing, commissioning and managing complex and large-scale RCTs and QEDs

• Be responsible for YEF’s evaluation policies and reporting templates, ensuring they remain consistent and fit for purpose. 

• Be responsible for the ongoing development of YEF’s commissioning guidance. 

Team management 

The post holder will likely lead the recruitment, management and development of a team of evaluation officers and will: 

• Ensure they have the knowledge, skills and support to carry out their work effectively. 

• Provide regular feedback and coaching on written outputs. 

• Supervise and project manage the team’s evaluation work, providing quality assurance and monitoring of progress against project plans and project budgets. 

Collaborative working 

The post holder will contribute to the wider YEF team and will: 

• Be accountable to YEF’s Fund Leadership Team for the delivery of evaluations, on time and on budget, including reporting on risks and issues. 

• Work closely with colleagues across YEF and specifically the Programme team. 

• Ensure high-quality evidence is at the heart of all YEF activity and that the evidence we produce is communicated in a clear and accessible way which will drive sustainable change. 

• Support the management of YEF’s panel of evaluators and expert panel 

General 

The post holder may be involved in other elements of YEF's projects, working with senior colleagues to commission, scope and deliver projects. 

About you 

You are this sort of person: 

• You don't want your days to pass without making a difference. You want to play a significant part in reducing the level of youth violence and see the value in an evidence-informed approach.

• You are an excellent communicator. You can produce technical documents that accurately report methodological and statistical information. You will combine this with experience of communicating complex evidence and analysis in a simple and accessible format to non- experts. 

• You have a post-graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in social science, social policy, public health, health services or other field, with a significant quantitative component, or relevant experience equivalent to a Masters qualification. 

• You have strong knowledge, experience and technical expertise in evaluation methodologies including experience of RCT design and/or design of complex quasi-experimental evaluations (e.g. propensity score matching, regression discontinuity design, instrumental variables). 

• You have quantitative analysis skills  including experience of using advanced analytical software such as R, Stata or SPSS. 

• You have significant experience in carrying out or commissioning research including designing all aspects of the research and managing external contractors.  This may be in academia, government or a related sector. 

• You have strong relationship management skills. You are comfortable working with a wide range of people, including senior academics and other research experts, children and their families, practitioners, and policy makers. You’re able to provide constructive challenge when required.

• You bring the best out of your colleagues.You have experience in leading teams and managing others to achieve amazing results. You can both take and give direction. You may have, but they are not essential: 

• A good level of knowledge and understanding of crime or serious violence. You know the facts, understand the issues, know the key people, and can discuss the theories. Alternatively, you might have a strong understanding of a relevant area such as education, youth work or social care.

Hybrid Working Details    

The office is based in Central London. Those living in and around London are expected to be in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month.

Supporter Journey Lead

We’re looking for a Supporter Journey Lead to join our Supporter Experience team.

This is a key role in shaping how supporters experience Help for Heroes across different journeys, touchpoints and moments that matter.

You’ll work with teams across Commercial to map, develop and improve supporter engagement journeys, turning strategy, insight and campaign learning into practical plans that strengthen relevance, supporter experience and long-term value.

About the Role

As Supporter Journey lead, you’ll lead the mapping, development and ongoing improvement of supporter engagement journeys across Commercial.

You’ll work with product owners, delivery teams and enabling colleagues to understand current journeys, define target journeys, identify pain points and opportunities, and turn strategy, audience insight and campaign learning into clear, practical plans.

In this role, you will:

• Map and maintain current and target supporter journeys across Commercial, defining key stages, touchpoints, triggers, handoffs and moments that matter.
• Run journey mapping, process discovery and improvement workshops to identify pain points, gaps, opportunities and inconsistencies.
• Work with product owners and relevant teams to define journey requirements for campaigns, communications, process changes, data capture and operational improvements.
• Coordinate with Digital/ESP, data, content, supporter care, fundraising and other teams to make sure journey changes are understood, aligned and deliverable.
• Help ensure audience segmentation is applied meaningfully, so content, asks and next steps are relevant to different supporter groups.
• Use campaign learning, supporter feedback and operational insight to identify where journeys should be adjusted, strengthened or simplified over time.

About You

Are you someone who enjoys understanding how people experience an organisation across different touchpoints, channels and moments?

Do you like bringing people together to map journeys, uncover pain points and turn ideas, insight and learning into practical improvements?

You’ll be confident working across supporter, customer or audience journeys, with a good understanding of how touchpoints, handoffs, segmentation and communications shape experience.

You’ll be comfortable working with product owners and delivery teams to define clear requirements, actions and workplans, while keeping activity aligned, realistic and deliverable.

You’ll also be someone who can use campaign learning, supporter feedback and basic performance information to identify where journeys could be strengthened, simplified or made more relevant.

Malaria No More UK is looking to appoint a highly motivated Senior Advocacy Officer to join our team and help implement our advocacy strategies. Working with both our UK and global advocacy, you will cultivate a new generation of malaria champions and push malaria up the political agenda. This role will work on increasing our visibility and the resonance of our case with key stakeholders, including decision makers in the UK and around the world. Securing increased support will be vital to global efforts to accelerate progress towards ending malaria for good within a generation. We are looking for a confident communicator with strong project management skills and a good understanding of political advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Providing project management support for a range of projects relating to our UK and global advocacy, including acting as project lead on agreed projects.
• Strategic stakeholder mapping, including building and maintaining relationships with UK parliamentarians and keeping contact records in our database updated on a regular basis. 
• Lead the delivery of high-quality events for policy and political audiences, including at the UK party conferences, and international meetings.
• Daily monitoring of the global malaria landscape and UK parliamentary activities and keeping the team informed of relevant developments and engagement opportunities.
• Drafting of political briefings on key policy areas within malaria and global health.
• Providing administrative support relating to our UK and global advocacy, including the coordination of stakeholder mailings, updating our contact management system (Salesforce), scheduling and attending meetings, and taking minutes.

Hackney Empire is looking for a new Deputy Technical Manager.

The new role of Deputy Technical Manager will play a critical operational and leadership role within our busy 1,250-seat theatre and additional rehearsal and event spaces. Supporting the Technical Manager, you will lead and motivate a committed technical team to ensure the flawless execution of large-scale transfers, touring musical theatre, dance, opera, comedy and live music shows; supporting produced work and public-facing activity from our Creative Futures programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Freshwater Habitats Trust’s New Forest team, delivering practical, landscape‑scale freshwater conservation projects across the National Park.

The role will focus on identifying, developing and delivering habitat creation and restoration projects to improve freshwater biodiversity at a catchment scale. This will include undertaking catchment walkover surveys to identify issues and opportunities, and working closely with landowners, technical specialists and a wide range of stakeholders to design and implement effective interventions—including habitat creation, restoration and nutrient management.

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to lead advocacy on two of the most important fronts in international development. You will co-lead the External Engagement and Influencing workstream of What Works to Prevent Violence – Impact at Scale (What Works II), a FCDO-funded programme working to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls globally. Alongside this, you will drive CIUK's own influencing work on gender equality, shaping UK Government policy and building CIUK's reputation as a thought leader on gender justice.

You will co-manage a global team of six advocacy and communications professionals for What Works and represent CIUK at senior levels across FCDO and UK Parliament, with sector colleagues, global and domestic women’s rights organisations and influential thought leaders. You will oversee the development of high-impact advocacy products, events and influencing strategies for both briefs.

This role sits in the Programme and Policy team and is line-managed by the Head of Advocacy & Influencing.

Overview of role

The UK Casework Lead is responsible both for a personal caseload and for the supervision, output, quality and revenue performance of RLS's UK legal team of three frontline caseworkers. We are looking for a qualified solicitor who is also IAAS accredited at Supervising Senior Caseworker level, qualifying ideally to supervise both the Immigration and Asylum and the Public Law contracts. The post holder will also hold the role of authorised litigator.

The postholder will be expected to generate legal aid income at a level that covers their own gross salary cost, and to lead the team's growth in legal aid billings against an agreed annual target. 

We are looking for someone with a positive, can-do approach and a strategic, ambitious, big-picture view of the team and the work. We want someone who will set direction for the UK team, grow the LAA contract in line with RLS’ strategic objectives, and support caseworkers and operational colleagues to become confident, self-supporting practitioners on a day-to-day basis, working in a trusting collegiate environment.

Key responsibilities 

Legal aid income generation 

• Lead the growth of RLS's legal aid income and maintain a personal legal aid caseload sized to generate billings covering the postholder's own gross salary costs. 

• Design and oversee caseload allocation across the team so that caseworkers develop skills and expertise, progressing swiftly in their professional development, legal aid revenue grows in line with the strategic target of 10–15% year-on-year, while preserving quality of advice and client care. 

Personal casework 

• Carry a legal aid caseload in immigration and asylum / public law, including controlled and licensed work as appropriate. 

• Provide high-quality legal advice and representation to clients throughout the application procedure, on appeal and in related judicial review claims where applicable. 

• Maintain client files and records to LAA, SQM, and SRA standards, and in line with GDPR and RLS's internal procedures. 

Supervision and team leadership 

• Supervise three frontline caseworkers (currently covering refugee family reunion and asylum) - including regulatory compliance, file reviews, technical supervision, casework allocation, performance managementand professional development. 

• Set and keep under quarterly review, ambitious-but-achievable case targets across the team in consultation with caseworkers, and monitor progress against them. 

• Help to supervise pro bono volunteer lawyers and trainees through three established pro bono partnerships

• Deliver internal and external training

• Foster a supportive, learning-oriented team culture 

Legal aid contract and regulatory compliance 

• Act as the LAA Supervisor for both RLS Immigration & Asylum and Public Law legal aid contracts 

• Manage the LAA contract end-to-end: compliance with the contract specification, oversight of controlled and licensed billing, exceptional case funding applications and billing of ECF files, and audit (LAA, SQM)readiness. 

• Act as the LAA authorised Litigator, the RLS's Quality Representative for the Specialist Quality Mark (SQM); manage Peer Review readiness and oversee actions arising from LAA and SQM audits, reviews or visits. 

• Ensure full compliance with IAA, SRA (where applicable) and SQM standards and record keeping across the UK casework team. 

• Maintain accurate financial records and information as required. 

• Provide half yearly reports to the RLS ED and Trustee Board on RLS audit readiness, and confirmation of progress to monthly and annual record keeping being up to date.

Monitoring, evaluation and reporting 

• Lead monitoring and evaluation of the legal team's outputs: case numbers, client outcomes, billing performance and quality indicators. 

• Report against targets internally (to the ED) and to funders where required. 

• Use case management system data and other evidence to inform team development, fundraising proposals and external impact reporting. 

General duties 

• Keep abreast of developments in immigration and asylum law and practice 

• Deliver training internally for caseworkers, trainees and pro bono volunteers 

• Adhere to all RLS policies and procedures, including safeguarding. 

• Undertake other duties within the scope of the post as agreed with the Executive Director. 

Person specification 

Essential criteria 

Candidates must meet all the following: 

• Qualification and accreditation: Solicitor qualified in England & Wales and IAAS accredited at Supervising Senior Caseworker level, qualified ideally to supervise both the Immigration and Asylum and the Public Law contracts. If only currently qualified to supervise the Immigration and Asylum contract, willing to work towards eligibility to supervise the Public Law contract as swiftly as possible.

• Casework experience: At least five years' (or equivalent) experience of running a caseload of complex asylum, immigration and human rights cases in a legal aid environment (including appeals and judicial review). 

• Billing track record: Demonstrable experience of meeting personal and/or team legal aid billing targets, and a clear understanding of how cost-billable work is generated and managed in practice. 

• Supervision experience: Experience of supervising caseworkers working in an LAA environment, including SQM and Immigration Specification compliance, file review, technical supervision and performance management. 

• LAA contract knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of LAA contract and specification provisions in the immigration and asylum, and public law categories, including controlled and licensed work, exceptional case funding,

• Tribunal experience: Experience of litigation in the Immigration Tribunals and the Administrative Court.

• Working style: Strong organisational skills; able to prioritise and meet deadlines; comfortable working autonomously in a small team and balancing personal casework with supervisory responsibility (anticipatedratio 75:25) 

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to deal effectively with clients, colleagues, commercial pro bono partners and external stakeholders.

SCIENCE PROGRAMME LEAD - RESEARCH

We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong people skills and ecological research background to provide leadership across BTO’s research programme, and to work as a small team of senior science leads to support the Director of Science leading BTO’s Science Department. The post will oversee the line management of a number of existing science heads of team, and work collaboratively with many others to achieve strategic and operational goals. The role requires demonstrable experience in supporting, motivating, and leading experienced teams and excellent people management and influencing skills. It will also require experience in developing strategic vision, setting measures of success, securing funding, and ensuring delivery of multiple and often complex projects. The post holder will need skills in, and a passion for, communicating internally and externally; and a background in leading ecological research. Although primarily a management role, there will be opportunities to oversee project development, management and delivery of ecological research projects, and particularly to use the postholder's technical skills to provide strategic and cross-cutting leadership to relevant areas across the BTO. The postholder will be responsible overall for teams comprising over 40 staff  and directly line manage the Head of Terrestrial Ecology, Head of Wetland and Marine, Head of Dispersed Threats and Head of Statistical teams. Ideally, the postholder will be based out of the BTO HQ in Thetford, but we would, for the right candidate, consider staff working out of the BTO offices in Stirling, Bangor or Lisburn, near Belfast.
