JOB DESCRIPTION

Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. You will also work within the team to research and identify new fundraising opportunities from trusts, foundations and companies and convert these into long term business relationships.

This position provides a full-time, permanent contract with hybrid working hours, consisting of a 35-hour week. The role allows for hybrid work, including remote work from home, with one day per month at our head office in London.

Principle Responsibilities:
​

• To work closely with the Head of Development to research and identify new opportunities.
• Develop, prepare, and submit high quality funding applications, acting as bid writing SME.
• Peer Review support to mentor other team members.
• Work with Head of Development to increase the accuracy of our Salesforce data, resulting in data dashboards suitable to the reporting needs of our funders.
• Collaborate with Development and Senior F&R Officer to implement a team strategy and support a lean process of reporting.
• Work with Senior Finance & Reporting Officer to report impact to our funders in line in the funding requirements.
• To work closely with Head of Development to develop and implement our fundraising strategy.
• Represent the organisation at research based events, developing our understanding and enhancing our delivery.
• Identify new opportunities and working with the team to covert these to applications and funding.
• Lead on individual Giving Strategy, working with Head of Development and Development Officer to expand opportunities.
• Any other relevant duties at the discretion of management.

The Senior Finance Officer will sit at the heart of our Operations Team, reporting to the Head of Operations and the Co-CEOs and playing a crucial function in ensuring the efficient day-to-day management of the organisation’s financial functions.

This will include all day-to-day management of our financial systems and banking, including our accountancy software (Quickbooks) and our internal financial spreadsheets. This involves recording and tracking the income expected from funders, processing invoices and payments, preparing payroll and producing monthly reconciliations and termly budgets. You will also work with our teams to ensure compliance with our financial policies, process expenses and work with our external accountants each year to provide the information needed for our accounts.

You will also research, advise and steer on both necessary changes to our processes, policies and procedures and standalone project work which may involve tasks such as reviewing our pensions processes or any savings and investments. You will understand and enjoy the challenge that working at a charity with multiple complex funding streams brings.

You will have experience of similar work, ideally in the charity sector and will be familiar with the use of both accountancy software and managing cashflows and budgets using Excel. You will have excellent communication and people skills as well as a proactive approach to problem solving and be methodical with a very keen attention to detail.

The British Asian Trust is one of the most exciting and innovative charities working in South Asia. We are looking for an exceptional philanthropic fundraising leader, with experience of leading an appeal and first-hand programme management skills, to undertake a one year maternity cover as the Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the appeal, working collaboratively with the team to reach their significant fundraising targets across HNWIs, trusts, institutional funders and corporate partners.

About the role

As Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal, you will:

• accelerate and coordinate fundraising for the Child Opportunity Appeal across a diversified range of high value income streams in the UK, India, Dubai and globally;
• drive and implement the fundraising strategy, ensuring KPIs are monitored and met;
• coordinate internal working groups as well as external senior volunteers to ensure a consistent and aligned approach to fundraising and new donor engagement;
• produce effective prospect research and robust donor pipelines to secure major donations at the 6 and 7-figure level from HNWIs, corporates, trusts, foundations and institutional funders;
• ensure all donors and partners receive first-class stewardship and relationship management, working closely with in-country, programmes and communications colleagues to produce compelling proposals, reports and updates;
• support the CEO to manage the partnership with the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation;
• develop and deliver strong engagement opportunities and leverage cultivation event and project visit opportunities;
• contribute to financial planning and reporting, and develop processes and systems for effective fundraising and stewardship.

Chief Executive – full-time, permanent, London (flexible/hybrid)

The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next phase of its growth and development. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and energetic senior player to lead a small executive team, along with many highly dedicated and capable Institute members, as we embark on a number of key development projects which will continue to grow our charitable activities and influence in the food sector. The individual will have attained a BSc or equivalent level, and have demonstrable experience in leadership and people management. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice. 

With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.

The Role

We seek a Development and Grants Senior Officer to support our funding applications and grant reporting for Blue Ventures’ Indonesia programmes. The pillars of our work are a well-respected handyperson service and a day centre offering a range of activities focusing on health and well-being, socialising, art, gardening and intergenerational work with and for older people.

The CEO will need to embrace our aims and lead the EV team to provide services based on holistic, long-term, high-quality relationships and to ensure that older people shape development of our services. In this difficult economic environment, we need to explore new funding opportunities and transition away from a reliance on local authority funding.

You will report directly to the Chair of the Board of Trustees and be supported by the board and a small, dedicated staff team.

Your role:

• To lead the staff team to deliver excellent services for older people in Brent.
• To ensure the financial stability of Elders Voice.
• To work with the board of trustees to develop and deliver the strategic plan.
• To act as an ambassador for Elders Voice and the older people we represent.

A lot of what we do is writing applications and reports for funders that need to be written in a way that tells a compelling story about our work, as well as being factually accurate and concise. We deal directly with our fantastic supporters who fund some of our key projects, as well as researching and contacting potential new ones.

As Senior Trusts and Grants Officer, your primary priority is to generate multi-year income for YoungMinds specifically from Trusts, Foundations and occasional Government funding i.e statutory sources.

This role is vital in implementing our vision to create a step change in YoungMinds’ fundraising.

Moving from a funder-led approach to engaging all supporters as part of our movement, where effective fundraising builds relationships and becomes an essential part of achieving our charitable objectives, not just funding them.

The successful candidate will have:

• experience of successful multiyear applications for funding from Trusts and other grant-making bodies
• experience of using databases for effective fundraising and supporter retention
• an ability to develop and maintain relationships with a range of audiences
• an ability to pitch/make the ask for funding by phone, face-to-face and/or with a written proposal
• knowledge of the UK voluntary sector, funding sources and fundraising law and methods
• understanding and awareness of AJEDI (Anti racism, Justice, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion)
