The Autism Centre of Excellence exists to improve access to high quality support and remove barriers and stigma for autistic people, but to do this we need to grow our funding.
We aim to raise £5 million over the next five years to increase our reach, impact and activities, whilst creating a sustainable and predictable income stream for the charity. To do this we need to systematically build a pipeline of donors and supporters, to build profile and new relationships. In the short term we need someone who can lead the development of a series of applications to trusts, foundations and other sources of funding to support our priority workstreams.
Main duties and Responsibilities
- Primary focus will be on managing and soliciting income from your own portfolio of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders, securing gifts of between £10,000 - £1,000,000 to successfully achieve the charity’s ambitious fundraising targets.
- Secondary focus will be on the planning and delivery of first-class Special Events and Major Donor fundraising.
- Create a robust prospect pipeline of effectively researched and qualified funders, ensuring a continued flow of prospects through the pipeline, taking a sales approach to lead generation and the assessment of the warmth and value donors.
- Deliver effective research of prospective and existing donors, which enables us to raise significant income through both new and existing relationships; utilising our networks effectively.
- Implement effective cultivation and stewardship journeys that provides a high-quality supporter experience to your portfolio of donors and prospects.
- Deliver first-class relationship management to ensure excellent ongoing relationships with donors in both a written and face-to-face capacity.
- Deliver exceptional writing skills through proposal and bid writing and day-to-day communication with donors and colleagues.
- Fully understand the charity’s projects and activities to both ascertain their suitability as funding propositions and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders.
- Work closely with operational colleagues to develop compelling and thorough cases for support to inform our research and fundraising strategies.

We are seeking a highly experienced Trusts and Foundations fundraising consultant to spearhead the Trusts programme at Dreams Come True. The Thalidomide Trust is seeking a collaborative, inspiring and empathetic leader to join as our next Director of Health & Wellbeing, providing leadership to a committed and expert team as we work to deliver the best possible support to thalidomide survivors as they enter older age.
The Thalidomide Trust was established as a registered charity in 1973 to support individuals living with disabilities caused by their mothers taking thalidomide during pregnancy. Today, our support encompasses financial grants and guidance, together with comprehensive health and wellbeing support (including emotional support). We also undertake research to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries and provide vital information resources for professionals working with them. Secure funding means we can focus entirely on how to improve the lives of our beneficiaries.
We assist 430 beneficiaries, most of whom the Trust has worked with since they were children. We are often the first port of call for any issues they face. As our beneficiaries are now in their 60s, we must continue to evolve to meet their changing needs. The Trust is approaching a crucial transition point - effectively becoming an older person’s charity over the next 10-20 years, as the group’s needs become ever more complex and diverse. We must ensure we are ready to provide much-needed support to our beneficiaries as they face the typical challenges of aging that impact them more as thalidomide survivors, as well as the unique impacts and accelerated aging caused by thalidomide damage.
Our current Director of Health & Wellbeing is taking on the Joint Chief Executive role with our existing Executive Director. This means we need a new Director of Health & Wellbeing to join in October this year to lead our fantastic, 12-strong team of health & wellbeing professionals though this transition period. They will ensure they have the resources and skills to support our beneficiaries into this next phase of life, maintain and build on our award-winning culture, contribute to the development of the Trust’s next Five-Year Strategic Plan, and lead the implementation of the health and wellbeing objectives and deliverables within the plan.

A leadership role with real purpose within the Executive Team of Papworth Trust, a well supported and long established charity. You will work with a broad range of colleagues across the Trusts Work, Care and Day Opportunities Services.
The plan into 2027 and beyond is growth and you will be an effective part of the team to meet the Boards strategic objectives and deliver sustainable growth in your areas.
Responsibilities
- Determine strategic growth as part of the executive team
- Ensure the trust meets statutory and regulatory requirements (CQC)
- Lead and inspire, creating a high-performance culture and delivering high-quality services to customers
- Create opportunities for growth through forming alliances and relationships with authorities and commissioners
Experience
- You must have experience working at Senior level within the provision of Care, Day Opportunities, or Work
- Of course confidence around disability, and understanding the impact disability can have on the individual and the people around them is a prerequisite
- You will carry a passion for equality and social change with you in everything that you do
- Solid leadership skills, budget management, and enabling innovation through your teams will all be needed in this exciting and challenging role
The Head Office of Papworth Trust is located in Huntingdon with offices across the East of England, with a high concentration in Suffolk, you will need to be based in East Anglia and be happy to travel across the region to fulfill your role.

To help us maximise our work with funding partners and strengthen the wider work of the communications team we are seeking a Communications Officer, Partners & Content to create engaging and inspiring communications plans and content to help us reach target audiences.
We know that we have been too quiet for too long but the urgency of the nature and climate crisis means that we need more people to know more about our unique work and influence in nature conservation. You will bring ideas, energy and ambition to help us redefine our communications work with trusts, foundations and other organisations that support our work, to help us towards our organisational objectives.
You will be a talented wordsmith – knowing how to engage different audiences whether through our website, publications or social media. Always listening to what is needed, understanding why and when, and then delivering on time to a high standard.
