The Head of Finance will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer and the Board of Trustees.

You will provide financial leadership overseeing all aspects of the organisation’s finances and in ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation and principles. You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be proactive in developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the British Deaf Association (BDA) as it grows. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the financial planning cycles, governance, and management reporting process as well as managing relationships with external stakeholders/advisers ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

With prior experience of working with charities’ accounts as well as experience of Sage accounting system used at the BDA, you will manage the Finance team and provide excellent business service and support to circa 28 staff across the UK.

As a bilingual organisation with a working language of British Sign Language (BSL) and English, we will provide BSL training for the successful candidate.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, unlike NHS emergency services, is a charity. This free life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and rapid response vehicles.

Each critical care team consists of a pilot and co-pilot, a pre-hospital care doctor and a critical care paramedic.

They can be rushed to the scene with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care, usually only in the hospital emergency department.

Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed to the most appropriate hospital by air or land.

About the role:

The SHP Somerset Cluster is based in the heart of the London’s theatre and shopping districts – the main hub is just off Drury Lane, with the other sites near Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. The aim of the service is to support people over the age of 18 to navigate various support needs and develop the skills required to maintain independent accommodation long term.   

As a multiple disadvantage (MD) referral and move on coordinator, you will work as part of a larger support team to ensure that consideration is given to the individual experiences of multiple disadvantage when it comes to accessing and moving on from our service.   

You will work with people from their first interaction with the service: at the point of referral, ensuring that all aspects of someone’s experience is considered by undertaking a trauma informed, culturally sensitive assessment and supporting your colleagues to develop their awareness of these experiences. 

From here you will then support their journey through the service by working alongside other support staff to foster a culture of move on, supporting the development of holistic and realistic move on goals.   

This work will be underpinned and supported through the development of a move on programme. This programme, developed and overseen by the MD Referral and Move on Coordinators in partnership with the Recovery and Opportunity Coordinators, will be not only look to develop confidence and ability to navigate social systems, but also be accredited through SHP’s AQA Registered Learning Centre.   

In addition, you will carry your own caseload for people living in the step-down services to ensure that they are prepared, equipped, and confident about moving on. This may include identifying current barriers within the system that can prevent someone from moving on successfully or within their set timeframe. 

About you:

• Experience of coordinating projects across multiple teams or people with varying roles to achieve successful outcomes for vulnerable people
• Knowledge and awareness of the intersection of needs in people facing multiple disadvantage & strong understanding of how the intersection & co-occurrence of these issues can make it difficult for people to engage with support or to move on from services.
• The ability to judge the appropriate response to situations that you find challenging or emotionally difficult
• The ability to work as part of a team to ensure that everyone is clear in their roles and provide peer support and guidance when needed, working through any arising conflict professionally and successfully
• Strong time management skills, ability to work on own initiative, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards.
• Excellent administrative and IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, database usage and e-mail, and the ability to interrogate and extrapolate data from various sources

We’re looking for a Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly team at our head office in Rugby, working with our Income Generation Manager to ensure our income meets the increasing demands for our services.

You will lead on developing and supporting trust, grant, commissioned and community fundraising activities, including researching fundraising opportunities and writing grant applications, working in collaboration with the Income Generation Manager.  Supporting our amazing community fundraisers is an important element of the role, providing fundraising newsletters, updates and maintaining our fundraising webpages.

We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.

You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.

The role also involves providing advocacy and support (key working) for up to 12 members and ensuring the smooth running of the day service as a member of the co-ordinating team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Activities in the art studio:

•  Support members to engage creatively and develop their personal artistic practise.
• Work alongside the studio manager, day service members and volunteers to plan and deliver events, including artist led workshops, exhibitions and open studios.
•  Plan trips to cultural events and experiences.

Key working:

• Act as key worker for up to 16 members, checking in regularly about their engagement in the centre and their general wellbeing, and supporting them with information, advice, and advocacy as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain contact with members’ families, carers, and relevant statutory partners to facilitate good communication and better provide appropriate support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.

Day Service co-ordination:

• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
• Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.
• Work sensitively with volunteers, supporting them alongside the volunteer co-ordinator to take on meaningful and rewarding roles in the day service.

This role is part of a small Finance team that supports the work of Headway - the brain injury association. The role is line managed by the Finance Manager and liaises with every team within the organisation.

What you will do

As a Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the purchase and sales ledgers for both the charity and retail company, supporting colleagues, and resolving queries from suppliers and customers. You will monitor the purchase invoice mailbox and online purchase invoice accounts, ensuring that all invoices are downloaded promptly and passed on to relevant colleagues for authorisation.

You will be responsible for recording all purchase and sales invoices on our accounts system, Exchequer and ensuring that all bank transactions are entered on a timely basis. You will also be responsible for preparing and entering key monthly journals, including but not limited to charity and retail income, charity merchandise sales, depreciation, credit card expenditure, pre-paid rent and service charges. The majority of this work will use our Excel linked auto-loaders, but some manual entry will also be required.

You will complete monthly supplier account reconciliations and be responsible for raising any concerns or discrepancies with the Finance Manager.

You will maintain the stock system for the online merchandise shop, updating it with new stock and prices, using the information from the system to create the monthly cost of sales journal.

The Senior Finance Officer will work with the Finance Manager to ensure that all monthly and month-end routines are completed in line with team and organisational deadlines and complete any other finance tasks that may be required.

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. About the role

The London Library is looking for an Acquisitions and Discovery Assistant to assist in the acquisition and management of Library E-resources and print resources.

The role includes supporting the successful acquisition and seamless delivery of electronic resources to library users, utilising and maintaining relevant library systems and records; assisting purchasing decisions and supporting licensing, ordering and payment processes; verifying access, liaising with suppliers & Library IT, and ensuring correct metadata is presented to users; plus monitoring resource use and collecting data for the evaluation of subscriptions. There is the opportunity to support membership and services, including giving tours to prospective members.

In addition to assisting with the administration of E-books, the role requires processes associated with the management of the print journal collection, including serials and donated materials, such as checking in new issues and ensuring publications are shelved correctly, applying stamps, recording invoices, recording changes in publishers' information and preparing completed volumes of serial parts for binding and checking. 

There is potential to grow and develop the role, which will join our busy Acquisitions and Discovery team and assisting with administrative tasks associated with cataloguing along with supporting the Library’s internal Digitisation processes as required.

Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to get on with a wide variety of people, even under pressure, you will have proven experience of working in a Library environment and of basic clerical/administrative routines.

Our new CEO will work with a small staff and a diverse group of regular teachers and other professionals to develop this long-established organisation. We currently provide yoga classes and workshops for 30,000 students each year. Are you keen to be part of this growing community?

You should be able to balance a wide variety of tasks, and bring your expertise to bear in advising and informing the board of trustees. You should also be able to work with sub-committees to guide them in bringing about the strategic objective of the board.

We are fortunate to own superb, purpose-built yoga studios (the first in Europe) and are marking our fortieth year in Maida Vale this year. We have ambitious medium to long-term plans to develop our work and buildings further. You will be an integral part in bringing this about.

You should bring a willingness to take part in all aspects of the organisation from accounting and management reports to scheduling classes and workshops, and facilities care. This will involve working closely with professional and service-based contractors at every level.

Harris Hill is recruiting for a Head of Finance for this well-established Charity based near Leamington Spa and Coventry. (Hybrid)

• Reporting to: Chief Executive and Interim Head of Finance (3 months)
• Management: 3 staff
• Salary: £55,000pa
• Position: Full Time, 5 days a week
• Hybrid Working: 4 days a week is required at their offices in Leamington Spa

JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Finance will be active in preparing monthly management accounts and commentary for the Senior Management Team.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the ongoing development of the financial systems, processes and procedures, monthly accounts, cash flow, as well as budgeting and forecasting.

BUDGETING & REPORTING

• Preparation of annual income and expenditure budgets for the Charity, working collaboratively with Heads of Department and members of SMT.
• Review and collate all Head office service costs and professional fees and calculate cross company charging for financial reporting.
• Provision of income and expenditure reports, variance analysis and reconciliation of fundraising activities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheet, metrics, and commentary.
• Provide a quarterly report for submission to the Board of Trustees
• Formulate monthly rolling forecast cashflow for the Charity and Trading Company including phased income budget and planned expenditure.

FINANCIAL SYSTEMS CONTROL

• Ensure the organisation operates robust accounting procedures and systems of internal financial control in line with current good practice and legislation.
• Oversee and facilitate the annual external audit but effective liaison with the auditors and preparation of accounts ready for inspection.
• Regular review of access rights and permissions for accounting, banking & HR software systems
• Ensure the Charity works in accordance with Charity SORP, HMRC, Charity Commission Regulations and other relevant bodies’ recommended code of practice.
• Keep up to date with changes in legislation affecting finance, payroll & HR ensure this information is cascaded down to other members of the Team.

KNOWLEDGE

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified with significant post qualification experience
• Excellent technical and analysis skills, including advanced Excel modelling and analysis.
• Knowledge of the Charity SORP and Charity Commission requirements and guidance
