We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.
Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.
In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.
We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.
Purpose of Job
To be the Dementia specialist for Shine.
To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH/Dementia and to support their families/carers.

Young Care leavers are some of the most vulnerable young people in our society; many leave school with few qualifications and a significant number are unemployed, living in inadequate housing, and experience poor health and levels of poverty. Nationally 25% of female care leavers become parents between 16 -18 years of age and 50% by the age of 24.
Adjusting to parenthood must happen simultaneously whilst they are still in the process of transitioning out of care or adapting to independent living. Coping with the stressful demands of learning to take care of themselves and a baby at such a young age, whilst often still struggling to make sense of unstable, often chaotic childhoods, can leave little space for engaging with services in the wider community. Instead, many care leavers struggle with poor self-esteem. Isolated and lonely, they may lack the confidence, social skills and social network to join new parenting groups in their community.
Additionally, time spent in the care system can make care leavers reluctant to ask for and accept support. Becoming a parent can be the most rewarding experience in the world, but all parents need support networks to thrive as a family.
The post of Parent Coordinator is an established role. The role is to take full responsibility for certain aspects of the projects work, as detailed below. All duties are to be carried out in line with current operating policies and procedures and any procedures of the partnership agency. Street Paws is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 2016 with the aim of providing free and accessible veterinary care and support services to pets of homeless people in the UK. We strive to bridge the gap between animal and human welfare services. Ensuring that pets are not left behind in the fight against homelessness.
Demand for our services is ever growing due to the impacts of cuts to public funding, rising private rents, limited social housing and cuts to housing benefit. Role Summary
This is a new position at Street Paws which has been created to support ongoing projects in the Greater Manchester region. Role Description

Job Purpose
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Coordinator position sits within the Research, Evidence and Learning team and will make a key contribution to the quality of our programmes. The post holder will keep abreast of state-of-the-art M&E approaches to ensure the use of technically appropriate monitoring and evaluation models and information systems. The Operations Volunteering Experience Coordinator helps people with sight loss live the life they choose by ensuring volunteers in Operations-based roles are set up for success by preparing and training them for their role. Once in their role, they will support a positive volunteering experience by working to retain, further utilize and develop our volunteers in their role and wider into the Guide Dog family and community. Without our volunteers, none of our services would be possible.
We currently have 2 roles available one would work across the two teams in Sheffield & Notthingham; and the other to work across the two teams in Atherton & Liverpool. A typical fortnight would include days working from the office, days in the community, and some home working. The role holder will manage the time and location of their working days.
For this role, you’ll work 35 hours per week, 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Please be aware that this role may include some travel covering your region and work outside of your usual 9-5 working hours.

Grandmentors
Grandmentors is a national volunteering programme where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young adults leaving the care system. These young adults often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.
Volunteers meet with a young adult regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each person.
Role Purpose
We are recruiting two part-time Project Coordinators to effectively deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project in Wiltshire, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The postholders will work alongside teams within Wiltshire Council and with local volunteers to ensure that we improve the lives of care experienced young people (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Effectively manage the service to ensure it meets agreed targets and millstones.
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and local authority staff.
- Ensure volunteers are recruited, appropriately trained, and supported in their role; this will involve processing volunteer expenses, DBS checks and maintaining databases.
- Ensure regular communication between project staff and volunteers is maintained and that regular supervision for volunteers is provided.
- Work with your line manager to ensure project expenditure is in line with the budget.
- Maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto a secure system.
- Manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes and ensure contractual compliance.
- To implement and maintain appropriate risk assessment management processes.
- Prepare impact and progress reports for both internal and external purposes.
- Develop relevant information to promote and raise the profile of Volunteering Matters locally.
- Promote and adhere to Volunteering Matters Equality and Diversity Policy and all other Volunteering Matters policies which relate to the work of Grandmentors.
