The Magpie Project is a fast-growing, Newham-based charity working to create a better world for mums with under fives who are at risk of homelessness, and subject to the hostile immigration environment. We do this by providing mums and minis – together – with emotional and social support and the essentials they need at all stages of their journeys towards secure status, suitable homes and good health, we work through, trust, love, endurance, hope, and joy. We deliver services under one roof, where play is centred, information flows, and the whole person matters. We concentrate on building relationships of trust and community where each Magpie Mums’ and minis’ voice is heard.

Overview

Since our establishment in 2017 many funders, community members, professional partners – not to mention mums and minis - have bought in to our vision and seen our project grow  to a staff team that hovers around the 15, and a turnover well above £500k. Our success means that we are now looking to recruit to a new and vital role of director of operations. This critical  role  will work alongside the CEO to make sure that our ideas and ambitions are matched by sure-footed implementation, safe structures, and workable policies.

You will ensure efficiency, compliance, clarity, reporting and calm in the running of our fast-moving, multi-faceted grassroots charity. You will be the unwavering back-stop behind the exciting innovation, and the busy front-line.  Your organisational skills and operational expertise will create and maintain a structure which is safe, sustainable, efficient and transparent -  while being agile enough to allow our volunteers and staff to pivot when necessary in order to meet the ever-evolving needs of our mums and minis.

This leadership role includes line management of project leads, staff and volunteer recruitment, reporting and budget management, HR responsibilities the development of policies and procedures, as well as occasionally deputising for the CEO 

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership
  • Work within the charity’s mission, vision and values, and strategic plan to ensure and oversee the smooth running of all day to day activities of the charity.
  • Work to create, maintain and deepen our culturally competent, anti-racist, decolonised, psychologically-safe environment for all mums and minis, staff, volunteers and visitors.
  • Ensure that – as a charity – we are always ambitious but operating within our means in remain fully accountable for every penny and hour that we spend.
• Centre Management
  • Provide strategic oversight and support for project leads in their delivery of projects and programmes at the centre, ensuring alignment with charity objectives.
  • Provide line-management support to Play, Resources, Kitchen, Finance and Fundraising leads.
• • Foster a collaborative environment in which shared decision making is embedded, where all staff members and volunteers feel valued and  where projects are well-integrated into the charity’s overall operations.

• Staff & Volunteer Recruitment
  • Lead on all recruitment to attract skilled staff and committed volunteers.
  • Create, update, and implement onboarding, training, and retention strategies.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in hiring practices.
  • Work to further enable our ‘community first’ recruitment policy.
  • Work to create a ‘staff handbook’ and a ‘volunteer handbook’ to aid with onboarding and induction.
• HR Oversight
  • Work with external HR support provider to oversee employment contracts, benefits, for all staff, and support and supervision for staff that you manage.
  • Work with HR to review and create fair, compliant and benchmarked employment contracts for all staff.
  • Oversee and record holiday, sick, maternity and bereavement leave in line with charity policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws and best practice.
  • Work with our Finance Director to ensure smooth running of payroll, SSP and other contractual arrangements that are compliant and transparent.
• Policies & Procedures
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure clarity, fairness, compliance, consistency and efficiency.
  • Regularly review and update policies in line with best practices and legal requirements to a timetable in agreement with the board of trustees.
  • Keep abreast of governance regulations and report to the CEO and on Trustee Board on GDPR, financial, safeguarding, and risk assessment policies.
• Financial & Resource Management
  • Oversee and assist the Finance manager  in creating annual and multi-year budgets,monthly management accounts, financial planning, resource allocation, reporting to funders and trustees to ensure transparency and sustainability throughout the charity.
  • Implementing strategies to delegate budget-holding to project leads, and to ensure operational efficiency at all times.
• Facilities & IT Management

o Ensure smooth operations across physical assets and digital infrastructure.

o Oversee health and safety compliance within the charity’s building and off-site delivery.

o Manage external providers of HR, Salesforce and H&S functions.

o Liaise with co-tenants and freeholder as well on all building matters.

• Board Liaison

o Prepare for, attend and play a leadership role in quarterly Finance and Risk meetings as well as attending termly Board meetings

o Prepare Board meeting papers on operational and financial matters

o Oversee, maintain and ensure adherence to a schedule of delegated authority across the organisation

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in charity operations, non-profit management, early years setting, or a related field.
• Management qualification a bonus but not essential.
• Strong HR expertise, including staff recruitment, salary benchmarking, and compliance.
• Experience in line management of project leads, with a track record of strategic oversight and performance development.
• Ability to develop and implement policies and operational procedures effectively.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, management accounts, and resource allocation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams,  Xero accounting software, Payroll protocols,  Salesforce or other CRM systems.

Person Specification

• We are looking for a leader with a proven track record as Director of Operations, COO or Operations Manager in a similar sized organisation. .
• In this role, you will be able to gain the trust of the team by balancing kindness, care and compassion with competence and decisiveness gained from your years of prior experience in similar work. Above all, you will bring integrity and commitment to this role, in service of the mums and minis who make up our community.
• You will be confident in taking the lead on all your works streams while remaining in constant – daily, even hourly - communication and collaboration with staff, CEO, Finance, and Fundraising leads.
• You will unflinchingly interrogate our systems, policies and practices, while be extremely gentle with our people – creating psychological safety not only for all of our mums and minis, but also our staff and volunteers.
• Your attitude will be pragmatic and ‘can do’  as  you carve a realistic path between confidence and caution when planning projects and delivery.
• You will understand that structure creates safety, but too much could be stifling  – you will be emotionally and socially aware enough to walk this line.
• You will have experience of in line-managing project leads, with a track record of strategic oversight and performance development
• You will be able to develop and implement policies and operational procedures and report on them to the board
  
  Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the CEO,  and - on occasion - the board of Trustees, working closely with Finance and Fundraising leads, Project managers, and external HR and H&S provider.

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment. 

We are recruiting Employment Advisors to join our IPS service, you will be based in the Tower Hamlets team, working 35 hours per week and co-located in a mental health treatment team within the Borough. This service was awarded the IPS Grow quality mark and 'Good' Fidelity in 2023 and adheres closely to the principles of the IPS model in supporting people in to employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental health support needs, wanting to gain paid employment. 

There are currently both permenant and fixed term contracts available. The fixed term contract ends 31st March 2026 (maternity cover).

Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to employment as an integral aspect of wellbeing and supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training on the IPS model and in supporting people with mental health issues. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health, either personally or through a close contact.

You need to have a desire to support people to achieve their employment goals, and the ability to multitask and manage your workload effectively. Good organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in mental health, and the role it plays in the workplace. The successful candidate will need to become comfortable in approaching employers, and showcase the advantages of our service in order to work with them to recruit our clients to fill vacancies and sustain employment.

You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences. You will deliver the IPS approach (for which training will be given); providing person centred support and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment.

You will work as part of a mental health team (NHS Trust) maintaining positive and integrated relationships, fostering a holistic approach to recovery through employment. You will work closely with clinical teams, providing a coordinated approach that always remains client led.  You will also be working to targets whilst maintaining a high-quality service.

Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on UK roads. For families affected, the emotional and practical challenges are immense. As a Caseworker, you will provide direct, trauma-informed care to individuals and families suffering from the sudden bereavement or life-altering injury of a loved one. Working mostly remotely, with home visits to service users, you’ll offer vital emotional and practical support—including helping them access therapeutic resources, financial assistance, and guidance through the complexities of medical and legal processes.

This role is flexible, allowing you to structure your own working pattern within weekdays from 8AM to 6PM. While travel is required, you’ll have control over your diary. The work is challenging but immensely rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and a dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct support to road victims and their families in the North Yorkshire  region, following Brake’s trauma-informed model of care.
• Managing a caseload of service users, ensuring their emotional, practical, and advocacy needs are met.
• Undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and creating individualised support plans
• Offering emotional and practical support—this can include helping families access therapeutic resources, financial aid, or even facilitating keepsakes to honour the memory of their loved ones

It’s an exciting time to take on this refreshed role as Digital Marketing Manager at Hospice UK. After significant investment in our digital infrastructure and an overhaul of our communications strategy in recent years, we’re looking for someone to take our digital offering and supporter engagement to the next level.

Line managing a team of two, and with shared oversight of the organisation’s brand, this role leads the delivery of key digital marketing products in the organisation, including our Dying Matters campaign. It’s an influential and visible role within the organisation, and has the great privilege of overseeing the telling of deeply moving human stories of grief and compassion at the end of life.

The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for creating a rich and varied online experience for Hospice UK’s supporters. Overseeing our digital marketing and content strategies, you will work with powerful personal stories of hospice care, loss and grief. Your goal is to use these to inspire our public audiences to get behind our mission to make sure end of life care is there for everyone who needs it.

You’ll be a key member of our External Affairs directorate, and you’ll manage our digital content and marketing team, leading the delivery of key campaign and marketing content and products. The team is currently made up of three people. You’ll have a sophisticated understanding of how to get our audiences’ attention through effective use of tools including Meta Business, Google search and email marketing.

We recognise that search engine optimisation (SEO) and user experience are both critical to achieving our business objectives. You’ll lead on planning content that is SEO-optimised to get us appearing in front of as many people as possible, and structured in a way that gives users a top-class online experience.

Our social media channels have undergone a transformation since our brand refresh in May 2024, and are now engaging our supporter base – and those new to hospice care – in a highly effective way. You’ll lead the team that plans and produces content for both our member and supporter-facing social channels, finding new and engaging ways to keep growing our social presence.

We’ve made great strides over the past 18 months in working much more effectively with our Income Generation directorate across appeals, organic social media and paid social marketing campaigns. You’ll be a key part of the continuation and development of our work here, sourcing stories and content that further develops our success in these spaces.

With a highly motivated Membership Engagement team in place to strengthen our position as a membership body with the UK’s 200+ hospices, you’ll collaborate with this team to identify opportunities to work with our members for things like photography and filming, social media, and other campaign-related content.

You’ll have a key input into the delivery of content for Hospice UK’s flagship campaigns including Dying Matters and Hospice Care Week. With shared responsibility for brand development and guardianship, the role has significant visibility across the organisation, requiring strong relationship, motivation and influencing skills.

This is a reshaped role which comes at an exciting and important time in Hospice UK’s digital evolution. We’ve significantly invested in our digital footprint and infrastructure in recent years, with a new website and CRM, and a recently completed digital fundraising and social media strategy review now ready for implementation. As we develop a new organisational strategy, you’ll lead the development of new, audience-led and integrated ways to recruit, engage and mobilise our supporters online.

The Role

We are recruiting a Team Leader to cover a period of maternity leave for 9 months. There will also be the possibility of an extension.

As Team Leader, you will lead the operational delivery of our Greater London support service that identifies, supports and provides interventions for people at risk of/or experiencing gambling related harms.

You will be responsible for the ongoing improvement and evaluation of services, leading and developing staff to ensure high-quality outcomes for service users, as well as recruiting team members.

You will ensure service users and other stakeholders are involved in the design, delivery, and ongoing improvement of services in order to increase awareness of gambling related harms and the reach and impact of the service.

Developing excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships, using service data to facilitate business decisions, and providing regular reports and communications on service operational progress are also key responsibilities of this role.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis. Monthly visits to the GamCare Head Office in London to attend meetings and training will be required.

About the Minster Centre

The Minster Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee that provides training in psychotherapy and counselling and an affordable therapy service.

It was founded in 1978 as the first Integrative psychotherapy and counselling training in the UK and is a leading psychotherapy training institution. Now based in Queens Park, NW London, it runs training ranging from open access introductory courses to post-graduate degrees validated by Middlesex University. The Minster Centre caters for around 300 diploma and MA students each year. It is registered with the Office for Students.

The Minster Centre Psychotherapy & Counselling Service (MCPCS) also provides a safe, affordable and professional counselling service to people over the age of 18 who are experiencing a range of difficulties. The service is provided by senior trainees who are in the process of completing their therapy training.

Role purpose

The Minster Centre is seeking to develop and further professionalise its operations and is recruiting to a new Head of Finance role. This is a part-time, flexible role for two days per week in the first instance. Some time in the office will be needed to work alongside other staff and key stakeholders – this can be managed flexibly alongside working from home. The role would therefore suit someone who wants to balance an interesting and senior role alongside other responsibilities or interests.

The Head of Finance will oversee the financial operations of the charity, owning and ensuring compliance to financial policies and procedures. You will provide strategic financial guidance to the Management Committee and contribute to the delivery of the charity’s financial strategies.

Early priorities will be:

• A review of existing financial policies and procedures to support the ongoing effective running of the charity.
• Working with the Lead team to ensure the charity’s finances are sustainable long-term

Salary: Pro rata, £55,000 FTE

The postholder will support the delivery of a specialist domestic abuse (DA) project in partnership with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) in the London borough of Brent. The role aims to raise awareness and promote best practice in responding to domestic abuse across CLCH staff, improving support for patients impacted by domestic abuse. This will involve delivering training, workshops, and guidance to health professionals, providing consultancy on embedding DA response pathways, and helping CLCH navigate referrals to local domestic abuse support agencies. The role combines professional training, advocacy, and systems change to strengthen the health sector’s response to domestic abuse. The postholder will work across the Brent borough, attending community hubs and co-locating to deliver services when needed.

The postholder may be approached by staff seeking advice or consultation regarding male victims of domestic abuse. While the role’s primary focus remains on supporting women, the postholder will be open to supporting male victims through appropriate signposting and referral guidance. They will also be willing to undertake relevant training (e.g. Respect toolkit) to ensure inclusive and informed responses. Training will be provided.

About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Advisor & Trainer you will need the below experience and skills:

Purpose of the job

This role is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and driven individual to join the UK Youth Network Delivery Department. The Summer Jobs Programme is the largest programme in UK Youth’s portfolio. Funded until the end of 2026, the programme is currently operating in its second year. Reporting to the Head of Programmes, you will be responsible for programme managing our Summer Jobs programme. As Programme Manager, you will deliver the programme to a high standard and that the benefits to young people are realised. This will include ensuring that colleagues and stakeholders are clear on their roles and delivering on them effectively, that programme deliverables are met, risks managed effectively, and delivery is within budget.

The Summer Jobs Programme is a paid employment initiative running from July to September 2025 and 2026, supporting vulnerable young people in England and Wales. It aims to reduce youth violence and improve future engagement in education, training, and work by removing barriers to employment and offering structured, empowering opportunities. This programme is delivered with a network of local youth work Delivery Partners and employers. Young people begin with a one-week pre-employment training course, followed by a five-week job placement. Throughout, they’re supported by both a local youth worker and an employer-based supervisor to ensure they receive consistent guidance. 

Funded by the Youth Endowment Fund and Youth Futures Foundation, the programme launched in 2024 with over 400 participants and has expanded in 2025. A built-in Randomised Control Trial (RCT) will assess its impact on youth violence and long-term outcomes. In 2026, the programme will grow further, including working with over 2000 young people, completing a three-year period of delivery and investment aimed at driving long-term, evidence-based change.

The Trauma-Informed Programme Manager will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of trauma-informed practice across the organisation. This role is responsible for embedding trauma-informed approaches within service design, staff development, and partnership work. The post-holder will champion best practice in supporting  our beneficiaries, our staff/ volunteers impacted by trauma, building internal capacity and influencing wider systems change.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Lead, and manage trauma-informed initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and trauma-informed principles.

Oversee project planning, risk management and reporting to ensure the effective delivery of all programme objectives.

Contribute to organisational policy development, ensuring policies are trauma-informed and inclusive.

Organisational Development

Embed trauma-informed practice across our services through policy review, reflective supervision models, and systems design.

Support a positive organisational culture grounded in safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment.

Training & Workforce Development

Support training  and learning programmes on trauma-informed care and practice.

Build Trustee, staff and volunteer confidence in identifying and responding to trauma using evidence-based approaches.

Coordinate reflective practice sessions and peer learning opportunities.

Partnership and Collaboration

Act as a subject matter expert on trauma-informed practice in external partnerships, multi-agency forums, and strategic networks.

Engage service users and communities in co-producing trauma-informed strategies and feedback mechanisms.

Provide capacity-building support to partner organisations as needed.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

Develop outcome frameworks and indicators for trauma-informed practice.

Monitor impact and collect data using quantitative and qualitative tools.

Produce reports, case studies, and learning briefs for internal and external stakeholders.

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

Promote a culture of safeguarding that recognises the impact of trauma and adversity.

Work closely with safeguarding leads to ensure consistent and trauma-aware safeguarding practices.

Champion  Trustee, staff and volunteer wellbeing and lead initiatives that support resilience and emotional safety in the workplace.
