The Operations Officer is a vital enabler within UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA), supporting the Director of Operations and wider team to ensure that internal systems, communications, and events run smoothly and effectively. Operating as a competent professional with minimal supervision, the postholder brings a practical, solutions-focused mindset to help our staff and volunteers navigate UKMSA with confidence and ease.
Acting as both a systems fixer and first point of contact, the Operations Officer handles incoming queries, whether by phone, email, or other channels, making sure they reach the right person quickly and are followed up appropriately. They take ownership of the “how”, for example, ensuring platforms like SharePoint are clear and usable, templates and resources are easy to find, and everyday processes feel intuitive and joined-up.
They also play a key role in supporting the delivery of UKMSA events, helping to coordinate logistics, manage information, and ensure all activities are well-organised, inclusive and aligned with UKMSA’s values. Proactive in spotting friction points across systems and operations, they resolve them constructively and collaboratively, always aiming to make things easier for others.
This role will suit someone who is calm under pressure, friendly, and unflappable; someone who brings patience and clarity when others feel frustrated, and who sees their job as enabling others to succeed. Key responsibilities:
1. Support to the Director of Operations
· Provide flexible and proactive administrative support to the Director of Operations across a range of operational functions.
· Maintain and update Breathe and all HR records and internal trackers, ensuring information is accurate, current, and securely stored.
· Assist with project coordination, document preparation, supplier management, and other operational tasks as delegated.
· Ensure tasks are completed in a timely and organised manner, helping the Director manage priorities and maintain momentum.
2. Systems and process support
· Help the entirely remote staff and volunteers navigate UKMSA’s systems and tools (for example, platforms like SharePoint) with clarity and confidence.
· Work with other UKMSA staff to make systems more straight-forward. For example, work with the Finance Manager to help volunteers find easier ways to claim expenses.
· Act as a practical, approachable source of support for system-related queries, ensuring others can easily find what they need to do their job. Adapt systems considering their experiences.
· Identify pain points in internal processes and work constructively with others to improve them, streamlining structures, simplifying workflows, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
· Maintain and update shared systems and spaces to ensure they are accessible, user-friendly, and fit for purpose.
3. First point of contact
· Receive, triage and manage incoming phone calls, emails, and letters to UKMSA, ensuring they are passed on promptly and appropriately to the right member of staff or volunteer.
· Maintain clear systems for logging, redirecting, and following up on incoming queries to support accountability and responsiveness.
· Identify and suggest ways to make it easier for people, both inside and outside the organisation, to get the information or help they need efficiently. For example, work with the Membership Manager and Head of Volunteering to develop a bank of frequently used resources and materials.
4. Events co-ordination
· Support the Director of Operations, colleague and external consultants in the planning and delivery of UKMSA events including conferences, online webinars, training sessions, and member gatherings.
· Liaise with venues, suppliers, speakers, and internal colleagues to ensure smooth and timely event logistics.
· Manage practical event delivery tasks such as attendee registration, materials preparation, evaluation collection, and post-event communications.
· Contribute to the creation of inclusive, safe, well-organised events that reflect UKMSA’s values and create value for members, volunteers, and partners.
Key expertise required:
· Strong administrative and organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy across a range of operational and logistical duties.
· Experience supporting senior leaders or operational functions, ideally in a charity, membership organisation or similarly values-led environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence and professionalism to liaise effectively with staff, volunteers, suppliers, and members of the public.
· Proficiency with digital systems and platforms, including file storage systems (e.g. SharePoint or Google Drive), spreadsheets, document templates, and basic CRM or event tools.
· Experience supporting events coordination, including handling logistics, communicating with participants, and ensuring smooth delivery.
· A practical and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to spot inefficiencies or confusion in systems or processes and work constructively to improve them.

This job is not:

· This is not a technical IT role, though the postholder should be confident using digital systems and helping others navigate them.
· This is not a passive or isolated role. The Operations Officer is expected to proactively work closely with colleagues, volunteers, board members, and external contacts, often representing the operational “face” of the organisation and playing a key role in how things function day to day.

Role Overview
This is a part time (21 hours per week) and fixed term role. We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Empower & Exchange Project—an ISEAL-funded initiative to create user-centric data products, and advance future-proofed data infrastructure to improve the sustainability and transparency of the sugarcane supply chain.
This role sits within the Corporate Services team and will lead the project from planning through execution and reporting, collaborating with internal teams, stakeholders, and project partners.
The Empower & Exchange project is an integral part of Bonsucro’s broader digitalisation strategy and is closely aligned with other organisational initiatives. The project has five core objectives to be delivered to an agreed workplan:
1.Engage market actors to identify key ESG reporting metrics.
2.Create data reports tailored to certified sugar mills and the wider supply chain.
3.Develop a secure, user-friendly system for access and export of producer data.
4.Map the evolving technology ecosystem for traceability and ESG reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Project Strategy & Management
- Act as the Project Manager for the Empower & Exchange project, overseeing implementation, donor reporting, and team coordination.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation in alignment with funder and organisational expectations.
- Ensure project activities are agile, adaptive, and responsive to changing needs, contexts and feedback.
Product Development & Research

- Lead the preparation of donor reports and documentation of project progress and learning.

What will my main duties be?
Programme Management
- To oversee the IntoUniversity Boarding School Bursary Programme including recruitment of potential students and ongoing support of current boarders.
- To prepare the students and their families for Royal SpringBoard and school assessments as well as reparing for boarding school life.
- To plan and/or attend boarding school taster and pastoral visits across the UK.
- To create a calendar of out-of-boarding events and support for students and families to connect to their local centre, including centre visits and community hubs.
- Work with the Safeguarding Team to promote the wellbeing of students and respond to safeguarding concerns (additional training will be provided for this aspect of the role).
- Encourage post-18 alumni to engage with the Royal SpringBoard alumni programmes and the IntoUniversity Student Associate Network

Stakeholder Management
- Manage the relationship with Royal Springboard, including reporting on KPIs and maintaining communication.
- To build strong relationships and liaise with the host boarding schools and the key staff members such as Houseparents.
- To provide support to parents/carers as needed and manage any issues that may arise sensitively, mediating between the boarding schools, parents/carers and students as necessary.

Main Purpose of Role
CFAB is a national charity and the UK-branch of the International Social Service network. Our social work team helps to resolve cases involving child protection, children in care, and vulnerable adults when the case crosses international borders. CFAB social workers offer advice and guidance to individuals and local authorities and help to link social work services between the UK and another country. CFAB social workers engage in direct work with beneficiaries through kinship assessments and risk assessments.
The main purpose of the role is: to manage a caseload of complex cases originating in the UK or overseas which involve child protection issues; to support, advise and quality assure the work of social workers in other countries; to deliver training to professionals on issues related to international social work, and: when needed, to complete kinship assessments of family members who have come forward to care for a child in care.
Note: Whilst there are some opportunities to complete direct work with service users, such opportunities are limited as the focus of the role involves supporting social workers abroad and delivering training to UK Local Authorities.
Main duties, tasks and key results
1. To hold a caseload of allocated cases originating in the UK or overseas
- Quality assuring complex kinship and parenting assessments completed by social workers abroad for court proceedings in the UK.
- Managing complex cases requiring liaison with local authorities or individuals in the UK, and the relevant authorities overseas to resolve the case;
- Assessing cases referred to CFAB, identifying the intervention required and the resources/agency to undertake it
- Preparing information for referral abroad or to an agency in the UK;
- Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with clients and/or agencies in the UK and overseas to ensure the progression of cases to resolution;
- Ensuring that all cases are dealt with in a manner consistent with CFAB guidelines and Social Work England’s’ professional standards;
- Undertaking the required administrative tasks.
2. To participate in running the Advice Line service and responding to enquiries made to CFAB
- Offering advice to local authorities, NGOs and individuals
- Advising on referral procedure and fees
- Sending follow-up documents to enquirers
- Liaising with overseas partners for advice and to establish if services are available
3. To provide training to local authority professionals
- Deliver training sessions, jointly and single-handedly, to UK authorities on issues relating to international child protection, e.g. child trafficking and private fostering
- Present on CFAB’s behalf to conferences on international child protection, as required.
4. To undertake social work assessments
- Undertake kinship assessments of individuals in the UK who have applied to care for a child within their family who is in care in another country;
5. To support the development of the Social Work Team and wider CFAB team through:
- Participation in social work and CFAB team meetings
- Regular supervision meetings with line manager
- Representing CFAB to external partners
- Contributing to special projects as required
6. To be adaptable and willing to take on new roles and responsibilities as the services of CFAB develop in response to the changing needs
7. To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and policies affecting the work of CFAB to ensure a high quality consultancy service to service users.
8. To present, represent and promote the organisation to a range of audiences and settings, including promotional events.

The Senior Programme Manager will work across teams within Breast Cancer Now and externally, to plan and manage, as part of Breast Cancer Now's exciting transformational growth plans, the delivery and evaluation phases of a 3-year pilot, train the trainer programme, in defined targeted areas within England and Scotland. This role covers the final 2 years of the pilot.
The programme will help drive forward the public health, inclusion, and awareness team's work across the UK, which is to empower patients and the public to play a full role in managing their own risk of getting breast cancer, diagnosing breast cancer earlier and improving their quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, thereby reducing the risk of recurrence.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and development of Breast Cancer Now's Train the Trainer programme, ensuring effective project management, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage a remote delivery team and external partners, including evaluation agencies and suppliers, providing strategic oversight and direction.
- Oversee public health and inclusion initiatives, building strong relationships with stakeholders, community groups, and health sector partners across the UK.
- Ensure high-quality programme delivery, maintaining documentation, monitoring impact, managing budgets and small grants, and driving process improvements.
- Represent the charity externally, including at conferences and meetings, championing equity and inclusion in all aspects of public health engagement.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing and delivering high-level projects and programmes, particularly in public health, behaviour change, and training delivery. You should have a strong background in developing both digital and face-to-face interventions for a range of audiences, including underrepresented groups and professionals across health, education, and community settings. Proven ability to manage people, budgets, and external partners is essential, alongside experience in independently delivering and evaluating projects. A solid understanding of health inequalities and the wider determinants of health are also essential.
You will need to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as the role involves engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including within the NHS and community sectors. The successful candidate will be confident working both independently and as part of a dispersed UK-wide team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. You will have excellent knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, as well as UK healthcare systems and the challenges they face. Experience of working in the charity/voluntary sector and within a cancer care environment are highly desirable.
This role can be based in the London or Glasgow offices. The programme is being delivered in England (Westminster and Leicester) and Scotland (Glasow and Lanarkshire), based on mortality rates of breast cancer and you will need to travel to these areas. The hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.
