The Finance officer is a new role in the Finance team at the British Pharmacological Society. The Finance Officer will work with the Financial Controller to ensure that all aspects of finance are operated effectively and efficiently. 

Who would suit this role? 

You will have experience working in a finance organisation and/or experience working for membership organisations. You should pay close attention to detail, and the ability to suggest and make improvements to procedures.  Additionally, you should be a good team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Main Purpose of Role

CFAB is a national charity and the UK-branch of the International Social Service network. Our social work team helps to resolve cases involving child protection, children in care, and vulnerable adults when the case crosses international borders. CFAB social workers offer advice and guidance to individuals and local authorities and help to link social work services between the UK and another country. CFAB social workers engage in direct work with beneficiaries through kinship assessments and risk assessments.

The main purpose of the role is: to manage a caseload of complex cases originating in the UK or overseas which involve child protection issues; to support, advise and quality assure the work of social workers in other countries; to deliver training to professionals on issues related to international social work, and: when needed, to complete kinship assessments of family members who have come forward to care for a child in care.

Note: Whilst there are some opportunities to complete direct work with service users, such opportunities are limited as the focus of the role involves supporting social workers abroad and delivering training to UK Local Authorities.

Main duties, tasks and key results

1. To hold a caseload of allocated cases originating in the UK or overseas

• Quality assuring complex kinship and parenting assessments completed by social workers abroad for court proceedings in the UK.
• Managing complex cases requiring liaison with local authorities or individuals in the UK, and the relevant authorities overseas to resolve the case;
• Assessing cases referred to CFAB, identifying the intervention required and the resources/agency to undertake it
• Preparing information for referral abroad or to an agency in the UK;

3. To provide training to local authority professionals

• Deliver training sessions, jointly and single-handedly, to UK authorities on issues relating to international child protection, e.g. child trafficking and private fostering
• Present on CFAB’s behalf to conferences on international child protection, as required.

4. To undertake social work assessments

• Undertake kinship assessments of individuals in the UK who have applied to care for a child within their family who is in care in another country;

5. To support the development of the Social Work Team and wider CFAB team through:

The foundation fund work that helps young people to raise aspirations, build confidence and feel equipped for the next stage of life. They also support work that joins up fragmented services and pushes for policies that reflect the real experiences of young people. The Role
The role of Grants Manager will work to support the successful delivery of grant within the Building Independence Portfolio. • Design and implement sector-leading stewardship journeys for legacy audiences. 

• Collaborate across fundraising, marketing, and supporter care teams to integrate legacy messaging and supporter journeys. 

• Work with internal teams and external agencies to deliver high-quality campaigns and supporter experiences. 

• Monitor trends in the legacy giving landscape and use insights to inform strategy and innovation.

What We're Looking For

About the role

This role is key to turning data into insight that drives strategic decisions and deepens supporter relationships. Collaborating across fundraising, digital, and service teams, you’ll proactively identify opportunities, shape analysis, and influence decision-making.

You’ll deliver clear, accessible reporting and dashboards, support and mentor colleagues, and contribute to the development of our data warehouse. You’ll embed segmentation and find ways to include AI into our work and ensure insights are timely, relevant, and easy to understand.

Trusted to work independently and manage competing priorities, you’ll deliver high-impact insight with confidence and clarity. Your expertise will help shape how data is used across the organisation, and your ideas will be welcomed as we continue to evolve our approach.

About you 

You’re an experienced analyst who’s confident working independently and partnering with senior stakeholders. You bring a strong track record of translating complex data into actionable insight and influencing decisions at all levels.

You’re comfortable using tools like Power BI and combining supporter and digital data to uncover trends and opportunities. You’re proactive, detail-oriented, and confident working with complex and sensitive data, ensuring accuracy and integrity in everything you do. You communicate clearly and adapt your approach to suit different audiences, helping others build confidence with data.

You’re curious about new technologies, including AI, and keen to explore how they can improve our work. You enjoy mentoring others, improving processes, and driving continuous improvement.

Above all, you bring a collaborative mindset and a commitment to making insight meaningful and accessible.

Dartington Service Design Lab is a national charity that harnesses experience, cutting edge evidence and design to tackle the challenges children and young people face today, securing thriving futures for tomorrow. As we move forward with our refreshed strategy, we are looking for a new Bid Writing & Business Development Lead to join our dynamic team.

We are seeking an individual experienced in developing bids in response to tenders, research and consulting opportunities. The role will lead the end-to-end bidding process, from identifying and nurturing suitable applied research, evaluation, service and systemic design and consultancy opportunities. The role involves reaching out to and  fostering relationships with potential bid partners, developing compelling proposals (involving the wider team as required), managing bid submissions, adherence to compliance requirements and deadlines, and supporting the team with preparation for interviews.

This role is instrumental in expanding the organisation’s client base, enhancing our visibility, and fostering sustainable growth through effective business development strategies.

As a team, we operate remotely across the UK with regular project-related travel. Our staff work from home or when appropriate, together in local co-working spaces, and normally, a few times a year we meet as a whole team for a few days to develop and connect.

The Safe Haven Crisis Hub is an out of hours community crisis service, the Hub provides a safe space for individuals who may feel that they are at risk of a mental health crisis. The Safe Haven provides short-term support and social prescribing to individuals who are vulnerable and isolated into relevant support service pathways.

The post holder will be required to be self-reflective about their personal lived experience of mental ill health. An essential standard of the role is that successful applicants will use this experience and be able to recognise the values and impact of their lived experiences. They are required to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
