About the opportunity

As Accounts Assistant focusing on Treasury and Accounts Receivables, you'll play an important role in delivering a high-performing, efficient financial transactions operation with partnership and improvement at its core. This is both an operational and developmental role, offered with the possibility of pursuing a formal qualification such as a financial accounting apprenticeship or another appropriate finance or administration-related qualification.

You'll be part of our Finance & Assurance directorate, reporting to the Financial Transaction Team Officers and working alongside other assistants and trainees. Focusing specifically on Treasury and AR activities, you'll gain broad experience across cash management, income processing, and receivables. From recording and processing financial transactions to supporting month-end and year-end processes, you'll monitor daily communications and role-model brilliant partnership and customer service, support reconciliations and audits, and work in an agile way across multiple projects and workstreams.

This is a role where your success is built on strong collaboration across multiple teams. - Supporting the effective running and performance of the Financial Transactions team, with a specific focus on Treasury and Accounts Receivables activities.
- Undertaking specific projects to demonstrate or drive improvements across Treasury and AR processes.
- Monitoring and responding to daily communications from colleagues and role-modelling brilliant partnership and customer service.
- Recording, processing, and filing financial transactions in line with internal procedures, including completing reconciliations.
- Assisting in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing for and supporting audits.
- Identifying ways to improve processes and making recommendations to senior colleagues.
- Supporting colleagues across the organisation to operate within best practice for financial transactions.
- Role-modelling working in ways that always adhere to internal policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Liaising with suppliers and other third parties where appropriate.
- Supporting officers and managers with reconciliations, reports, and analysis related to cash management and receivables.

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced practitioner to join Become’s Care Advice Service. They will respond to enquiries to our independent national Care Advice Line (CAL), advising children and young people in and leaving care, and professionals and caregivers supporting them, so that young people understand and access their rights, are signposted to specialist support, and feel less alone as they navigate care. They will deliver workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands, advising care experienced young people and care leavers to understand their rights.

Location

We are currently hybrid working: our team primarily works from home with in-person attendance and meetings generally expected once or twice per month, usually at our central hot-desking location in Old Street, London. For non-London based staff we will consider hot-desking options near you, if required. This role will deliver regular in-person workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands. As such Become is unable to meet the cost of travel for this from other regions, or the accumulation of TOIL for travelling to or from the region. However, any travel required within the West Midlands region for work purposes and required travel to our London office will be reimbursed by Become, as London is not the specified location for this role. What to expect

This cross High Value Partnerships team brings together the existing functions Prospect Development and High Value Events alongside the brand-new Information and Assets function. You will be responsible for overseeing these functions and developing the cross-team strategy. There are two excellent senior managers to lean on delivering Prospect Development and HV Events, so it is expected the main focus for the first 6-12 months will be driving the development of Information and Assets.

You will be required to translate organisational priorities into compelling cases for support and donor communications, create and manage funding priorities and funding gaps, improve access to case studies and other storytelling tools, partner with HVP teams to understand their requirement and their prospects and donor’s needs. Your work will be key to creating an inspiring donor experience that clearly demonstrates impact and encourages continued support.

You will champion new ways of working and best practice in high value fundraising operations, working to develop streamlined processes and systems to empower fundraisers with the tools they need to work their portfolios efficiently through the donor journey.

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced individual who has a strong understanding of high-value fundraising and a proven track record of leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams, ideally within a high value fundraising environment.

You will need to have the ability to identify fundraising opportunities within complex strategic plans and be able to effectively shape these into compelling presentations for potential funders to drive income.

About the team

The newly formed High Value Operations & Stewardship team will sit in the High Value Partnerships (HVP) sub-directorate which is part of Shelter’s Income Generation directorate. It’s an award-winning team that is responsible for all areas of high value income generation across philanthropy, trusts and foundations, statutory funders, corporate partners and legacies to power Shelter’s fight for home.

Shelter’s High Value Partnerships (HVP) team is an energetic group of around 50 talented professionals who collectively raise over £30 million each year through voluntary and statutory income. By harnessing the support, networks, influence, and expertise of our supporters, the team plays a crucial role in powering our mission to fight for home.

As our portfolio of high-value funders continues to grow—and with ambitious targets ahead—we’re building a dedicated operations function to act as the central hub for knowledge, insight, and coordination within HVP. This new function will lead enabling projects and drive collaboration across Shelter, ensuring our fundraisers have everything they need to secure transformational support.

The Role

The Events Assistant will provide administrative and event delivery support to the Head of Events and the Events Coordinator in the planning and delivery of physical and virtual meetings, events and courses.

This role is hands on and varied and duties will include:

• Supporting the delivery of BAUS’s flagship Annual Meeting and a calendar of Specialist Section Meetings, Education Courses and virtual events.
• Maintaining accurate delegate and speaker databases, attendee lists and name badges.
• Assisting with event websites, mobile apps, social media and marketing campaigns.
• Liaising with venues, suppliers, exhibitors and delegates.
• Providing administrative support including processing payments, handling enquiries, and producing post event reports.
• Supporting set up, breakdown and onsite delivery of events (some travel and overnight stays will be required).

The Person

We are looking for a motivated and adaptable individual with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a collaborative approach. You should come to us with experience working in an events environment, or the completion of an Events Management course.

This promises to be an exciting and busy role so you will need to be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and have the ability to multitask effectively demonstrating a high level of customer service skills.

Perhaps most importantly you should be enthusiastic, flexible and pro-active, be a genuine team player and able to work independently when required as well as collaboratively along with colleagues.

The Work Rights Centre, in partnership with the LEF Fellowship Programme, is looking for a Trainee Solicitor to join our ambitious and driven team. We are a charity set up by migrants and for migrants, and every day our multilingual team of legal advisers stand up for their employment rights and secure their immigration status. 

This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with a strong sense of justice, who is looking to build a career in a legal profession. This role will suit someone who values impact, and the opportunity to make a real  difference in the lives of vulnerable migrant workers and disadvantaged Britons.

You will be able to learn from three experienced solicitors, exercise your skills as an adviser, and progress your career in a friendly and supportive environment. The LEF Fellowship Programme will cover the cost of your mandatory legal training and exams. By the end of two years you will have had the chance to complete your SQE training and gain the required practical experience to fully qualify as a solicitor.

The role

As the Trainee Solicitor,  you’ll work on a stimulating range of issues across two wide areas of law -  Immigration (in Year 1) and Employment (in Year 2). You will learn how best to support vulnerable clients with limited English language and digital skills, how to spot signs of modern slavery or manage safeguarding concerns.

Working with our immigration team, you will help clients understand and secure their immigration status in the UK. You will support clients who have limited leave to remain (e.g. on employer-sponsored visas, Ukraine Visa Schemes, or pre-settled EUSS status) or who are entirely undocumented. Working with our employment team, you will work on cases involving non-payment of wages, non-provision of work, unlawful deductions, race and gender discrimination, or unfair dismissals. Crucially, you will have the opportunity to understand the real-life intersection of the two areas of law, as they are often experienced by the same clients. 

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain well-rounded experience across all stages of the legal process, including interviewing clients, collecting information and assessing evidence, taking down witness statements, providing over the phone and written advice, and collating evidence bundles. 

Alongside your legal work and SQE2 study, you will complete an independent social justice project aligned with your personal interests and objectives of the charity. This might entail legal research, sourcing strategic cases, or compiling data on the impact of the current policies. Working on this project will give you an opportunity to conduct strategic legal work contributing to systemic change.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a talented Bookkeeper to maintain our financial records and handle financial operations in the charity.

Core duties include processing all routing transactions encompassing supplier invoices, sales invoices, bank transactions, petty cash, credit cards and treasury management. You will also make payments, prepare our in-house payroll and submit pension returns. 

You will work closely with our Finance Director to support the month end close while complying with and upholding the Charity’s policies and procedures.

• Experience working in Early Years settings (for example: nurseries, preschools, childminders, or family hubs, local authorities' Early years teams).
